Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

There was one at the 12 minute mark of the 2nd quarter, and another one right at the start of the 4th.

He may have some concussion concerns.  He belted his head on the ground at one point and then spend almost ten minutes on the bench while Dec rucked.

He was on the bench for almost 10 minutes because there were no goals and play was on the other side of the ground so they couldn’t get him on. He was pacing the bench waiting.

This is why we need Preuss. We almost lost the game when Gawn was off. He comes back on and helps us win with 40 seconds left.

I thought the Suns player grabbed ahold of Harmes as he took the kick making him spray it.

Correct. The spin of the ball proves it was a shank. In saying that Mcdonald really should have held the mark.

Anyway...who cares...crap game, crap performance, but 4 points banked and a pantsing awaits in WA next week..

Wet blanket.

Don't get me wrong, it's great that we won - we didn't give up at the end, 4 points and all. I'm not normally a wet blanket, in fact quite a dry one (?), but even the way in which we won, the dropped mark etc was depressing, and totally reflective of how we have played all year (with no learnings in this space). We'd have been beaten by any other team, and I'm still at a loss as to how a team can fall so quickly. I don't mind losing, but I question the gameplan and the boys' fundamental inability to hit a target, take a mark or make even one smart decision going forward.

Lifetime Dee here, I go to many games (during the darker days, as well), never microwave my membership etc, but I'm entitled to a real world opinion. I still hope for the best, and maintain that every year will be our year, but in doing so we need to be honest with where we are, learn and move forward.

Go Dees.

Went outside and put a brick through a picket fence when the Suns hit the front and missed the Hore goal. Did see the winning point though. All happy then. ?

Ok boys get it out of the centre as quick as possible, crash a pack and get a handball away to your running team mate, then run inside 50 and kick to your team mate who is standing on his own.

The next bit and I cant stress this enough, drop an uncontested mark.... the opposition will think they've got it, then BANG soccer the ball but not through the goals, straight into the post.

Game.

So cynical. Excuse me for reporting what one of our players said and trying to find some positives. Guess you would know better huh? What positives could you see?

Tom McDonald being called the “star of the show” by Mooney is laughable.

He was deplorable along with just about everyone else.

What a horrible game of football.

Our coaches have done nothing to fix our fumble and ball on ground problems from last year.

The forward line is a mess, the structure is non-existent and we have no plan when then ball hits the ground.

Some sort of record low inside 50 conversion to any score let alone goals.

Can some stats guru find the data Please?

Great win - good work Tmac. Didnt panic.

Didn’t mark what he should have but recovered composure in the nick of tome.

Like last night’s game, did the siren sound before the vital last kick (mark last night)? I must say I feared it had.

Alternatively we could just have a half forward with any kind of game sense watching repeat stoppage after repeat stoppage move towards the benches and then sprint off for Gawn.

A second ruck who can do the job forward as well would be nice and hopefully Preuss can do that, but Keilty v Peter Wright wasn't a concern tonight and he held up against Witts pretty well too. The other players on the ground should be aware of when Gawn is desperate to come back on.

Harmes looking to be unselfish almost cost us as Tmac dropped the simple mark but thankfully got enough on it to get a score

He got pushed as he kicked and it came off the side of his boot, it wasn't meant to be a pass.

An apt result. Toady Nathan Jones equals Robbie Flower in the number of AFL/VFL games played. These players have seen the worst results for Melbourne. Today both men will be celebrating Melbourne's nail-biting, excruciating, unbelievable final second win.

Only after we'd won.  I hate listening to the radio without being bale to see whats happening. I sat at the computer checking the scores every now and then. I thought it was going to be a draw and came back to check to see we got the behind.

But that last passage of play was great and well done to maxy for not only getting the hit out but just bombing it into the forward line and also to harmsy for getting the ball forward and tommy for having the smarts to just get it through and not trying to pick it up.

The fact we managed to score twice in the last 50 seconds is a miracle.

Look we are one game and % out of the 8. We are still alive. We won lets bank it and hope we play better next week because we will need to.

Also, check in Slo-Mo,  roll back and forth,  between 1:20_  thru to 1: 37 secs...

OMac allows his man to run thru to receive,  and OMc's standing still until his man has 10 Mtrs on him...  that is Holman,  who ends up kicking the goal, that puts THEM in front...  Omac asleep as usual.

IMO,  Omac should have left his man at that stage (prior to his man offering the offensive option),  and gone to the wing in front of stoppage, ahead of Jones, edge of the square.  Or switch with Jones on the mark, letting Jones be spare defender....

Instead OMac strolls thru the middle of the ground,  as his opponent streams forward with ball in hand...  and goals.   this would normally be end of game for us.

I've just got back from the ground, and luckily my apartment had foxtel record, so i could see the last 2 minutes.

Aside from the fumbles... what I have noticed live, is how we handball at all costs... to effing flat footed people... it's incredible and exemplified by OMAC getting tackled in the last 2 minutes at the top of the 50. And that isn't really about OMAC - although I've never seen a player have 3 fresh air swings for a spoil in a game before...

By god, we have a lot of work to do...

By god, it's great that we can grind out wins when we play like $hite.

We kept going despite several players clearly injured....Gawn, Melksham Hibberd etc.....we were out on our feet. Yes it was horrible, but we never gave up. TMac was interviewed by Jeff White after the game. He said they practiced and practiced all pre season for just such a senario where they were having to score a goal with less than a minute to go. He said it worked just how they wanted it to....and in fact it worked twice.

Should just do that all game really, don’t worry about their other plans, just go with the one they used inside the last minute it clearly works

Realistically Oliver should have checked his run.

We made mistakes all game, to pick out that by OMac I think is pretty rough, but also I think he’s probably actually not really don’t the wrong thing in that instance

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
