Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

In Hore's case, might be a good reminder not to write players off after one or two games, @dazzledavey36?

Hore's kicking needs work but he reads the play as well as any defender at our club since Jared Rivers. He looks to me to understand defending really well.

Agree,

If selectors think that a player is good enough to get a game in the ones, then the player should be given a number of consecutive games to prove their worth. At least a minimum of 2 games and maybe 3 or 4.  Totally opposed to selecting a player for their first game and dropping them a week later.  It damages the players confidence and almost says'to everyone that the player should not have been selected in the first place. Sure there are players who put in a shocker in their first game, but that normally tells you that the player should not have been selected in the first place. Petty is an example.

Agree. Have to give Keilty a game this week.

Think both have been fantastic.  Hore is looking more and more reliable down back and is the heir apparent to Hibberd.  When Lever and May return he may be freed up to be even more creative across half-back.

Lockhart's had a great start.  A lot of x-factor in that things seem to 'happen' when the ball is near him.  Like Hannan, he regularly finds himself in the right place at the right time.

Hore could push Salem up to the wing when the cavalry starts to coming back into the team...

Both impressed me on Saturday. I’m really puzzled as to why Lockhart slipped under the radar, his attack on the ball was really first rate and his maturity is like someone in at least their 2nd season.

And I agree about Hore, excellent composure, excellent reader of the play. Thanks Collingwood. And both fitted into the team very nicely indeed.

When lever comes back in a couple of weeks it will be interesting to see what happens to Hore.  they play similar roles.

Lever, Frost, Hore and Hibbo in the same back 6?  could work

Agree, one of the successes this season alongside Hore

I think Spargo also has it but unfortunately does not do enough.

Lockhart is an improved version.

High praise from Hibberd:

On Hore:  "...He drops back in space, helps the other defenders in the air and he is a great teammate. I love playing with Marty.”

On Lockhart:  "You just know what you’re going to get with Jay. He is as hard as nails and probably one of the toughest players I’ve come across in footy,”

Hore and Lockhart would love hearing that from an experienced and  succesful teammate.

Only last week some on here were lamenting all the VFL standard players in our side.  Hore and Lockhart may just prove the doubters wrong (along with Fritsch, Hannan, AVB)

We might have to try Frost on a wing to fit Salem into the back 6.

Imagine TMc on one wing and Frosty on the other with Pertracca in the centre...  a strong marking centreline. with Lockhart on a flank Hannan opposite, & Keilty in CHF.  Weide deep with Hunt. And another small speedster in the pocket.

Salem off the B/Flank.

Lockhart has been a professional footballer for no more than a month or two. In each of his previous games, he was fading out quickly after a lively start, but he put together 4 quarters on the weekend and was vital. I think he will continue to improve.

Hore's disposal on the weekend was concerning, but love his intercept marking, which is as important a trait as you can get in today's game.

When May, Lever and Jetta return, it will free up Frost and Hunt for the wings. Open space to run and long kicks to attack.

Rotate through the wings with TMac & Weideman to offer variety in size and marking ability as well as run.

Tracca needs a chill pill and to be instructed to hold the ball after a mark to take the time to make good choices and to set up his kicking.

There is no rush to win.

We need speed, run and agility, in our forwardline...  so no Tracca or TMc.

TMc can start there...  but I want him high, up in the midfield, to take marks around the centreline.

Tracc I want him out of the F50.  I want him to start in the Pivot.  and rotate from the bench. He can run forward in play,  but I don't want him starting in the forward 50.  We need plenty of speed,  inside 50.

A selection of,  Weide, Preuss, Keilty,  can be the talls inside 50

IMO we need more marking dominance across the centreline...  with today's defensive press...  the '666' rule...  and the extended goal-square.

Class and speed,  across both half-back,  and half-forward lines

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
