Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We should have a drink one day at the footy DV8 to discuss the failure of the capitalist system to nurture a fair and just society and the insatiable greed that permeates the system.  Probably have to smuggle in my home brew so that we don't support one of the multi-national beer companies.

Don't worry the revolution is coming.

Maybe sooner than we expect, as soon as mid May I could be living in the PRK...People’s Republic of Kooyong.

.There used to be a disabled person living in my street. Looked quite normal and liked to roam the neighbourhood. Was quite harmless but had a potty mouth and sometimes would say the most inappropriate things to strangers. Every now and then he would come home with a black eye, scratches or a bleeding nose. Obvious that he had been assaulted. His mother used to tell him off because she knew he went and said something stupid to a stranger. Wasn’t clued up enough to say exactly what happened.

All the more reason not to knock a beer out of somebody’s hand.

Yes, Baldy from Baxter will be held accountable for his actions. These 2 f’wits from Hawk TV should be banned too; courting trouble and then playing the victim card when it comes their way. Who needs them?

I was down for the game and I was amazed at the aggressive nature of a lot of blokes there.  I left level 3 just after half time and went to the bar in level 4, we started to turn things around so I stayed there as I thought I was bad luck.  There were hawks supporters behind me, yelling into our ears when they kicked a goal in the 4th as they could see us cheering on Melbourne.

i haven’t experienced tension like that watching a game before with Melbourne involved.

unprovoked

What annoys me is how the video was cut and the "unprovoked, disgusting act of violence" story spun by the media got run. There is absolutely two sides to the event yet the media just shaped it to how they saw it and what would get the most reaction. Very poor all round.

Where was they're  (CH7's) investigative journalism?  before the story?

Seems we've done most of it for them...   more media  'demonisation'  of Males,  without fully investigating the facts...   placing all fault one way.

They don't care who they beat up on,  with their thrills TV...  they can destroy people with their ccrapp.

The victim might be an asshat but violence is never ok. Be the bigger person and walk on. Or report him to ground staff if he’s behaving poorly. Don’t hit someone.

Easy to say when someone has just attacked you ??? If someone swiped your face as you walked past and caught you unsuspecting, would you cower or would you be aggressive in responding ?

This might be the circumstances of what took place ?

When I was a bullied kid I would have coward.

My older wiser self would be aggressive back.  call it PTSD,  or whatever you want,  but the past torments do weigh high on the agenda of everyone...  even Police with PTSD.

Not everyone is as inwardly calm,  and well centred,  as that ideology requires.

Don't drag it down to bad publicity for Melbourne.

A person could be in real trouble...  because some idiot likes to abuse opposition supporters,  and knock beers out of their hands.

If reports are true, the beer-snatching occurred after the Hawks supporter had been verbally abused by the Dees guy.

As others have commented, physically attacking someone is unacceptable, and assault is a crime. Equally, calling someone with a disability a r*tard is unacceptable - and is also covered under abuse/offensive language laws.

Better than what? I said in my original post that I don’t condone violence and the hawks fan has been known to get lippy, both should be banned for the rest of the year

Having listened to this foul mouthed fool, egged on by a smirking creep - the one holding the mike - I can only say that I would be deeply ashamed of myself if I was provoked into doing something that had me charged with assault by either of these two.

I have no doubt that in an earlier era Benny, the 'victim' of the affair, would have earned himself some corrective attention. He is an unfiltered vulgarian. But to get into strife on his account...dumb.

As much as Melbourne has to condemn what our bloke did, Hawthorn need to reign in this garbage . The guy with the mike encourages violence and anger and offers nothing useful.

I am not familiar with the content of Hawks TV (heaven forbid!), but the interviewer is a disgrace. He actively seeks out this fan (it doesn't appear to be the first time, they seem very familiar with each other) to record a barrage of abuse of his own players and opposition fans at the ground with supporters walking past (possibly with young children). The interviewer is doing this young man a great disservice in encouraging his angst and foul language as a means of expressing himself. Is this supposed to be entertainment? It is uncomfortable viewing and somehow I feel the interviewer is not displaying sympathy for his condition, but exposing him to more mockery by putting him before the camera to put on this show. This young man needs to find some peace within himself, not get himself so worked up with anger and frustration that he finds it difficult to articulate his feelings without foul language and abuse. Hawks TV is guilty of exploitation of a naive young man who needs guidance and good advice, not to be egged on and encouraged to violence, as you said, pitmaster.

Correct. It's very exploitative of Benny. I suspect HawkFan TV is using B's disability as cover for having him say things others only dare think.

Yes, as I said before I think it is a disgrace. Hawks TV should be looked at by the AFL over this sort of thing. I gained the impression the interviewer was laughing AT Benny, not with him. He found it all highly amusing. Amusing it certainly was NOT.

May be the AFL should be made aware of these video's,  on so called Hawk TV.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
