Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I disagree. Weiderman never looked like trying to take a mark or even attack the football in the last 3 games. Keilty is ready to give it a red hot go. I dont think his efforts turned the game, I do however think the umpires did. He just did slightly more than I expected the Weid to do. I hope Sam W. turns it around but Im down on him ATM.

I disagree. Clearly you and I were watching different games. Apart from the one ruck clearance, I thought Keilty looked lost. I like his enthusiasm, but that's not what he was picked for.

I too hope he gets another game this week, but Weid has been better this year, though that's not saying much.

If Preuss is fit, I'd play him in his place

You are a bit tough Mr Shadow. Last year and this year we gave the Weid numerous games when he was contributing nine tenths of bugger all but you won't give Keilty a second game!

No changes.

Kielty, Wagner and OMac probably the bottom 3, but all deserve more than a week after only just coming into the team.

Of those who are a chance, I would prefer they play again at Casey for another week e.g. Weid, Preuss

Did you not read the bit where Moon says, ''I too hope he gets another game this week'' ?

Fritsch didn't have his best game but that is the first time he has been below par. He always looks a level above those around him in terms of skill. As for Lewis, Goody has made his feelings on the subject very clear: His value as an organiser is worth the occasional clanger. Until May, Lever and Jetta come back I can't see him being dropped.

Dropping Fritsch from a team with limited skills would be an error at this stage.

It’s difficult to have no changes if Pruess and Viney are available .

Im thinking Wagner and Lewis, which means Kielty or TMac can swing down back, but I don’t think Goody will drop Lewis.

Lewis aint getting dropped..The last 2 weeks we have been so better defensively.. coincidence? im not sure but i think he must organise a pretty limited defense.

For what its worth i believe he is totally done. but i dont think he is getting dropped.

Guys who try hard learn things and improve. Guys who try less enthusiastically generally fail.

Keilty deserves another game or two for adaptive reasons and the improvement of his awarenesses. He has the skills.

Oliver played the least amount of game time, and seemed to be on and off all game. Not sure if that is a fitness issue or a game plan to have him on for bursts more than long stints, but the danger with that is you can get caught on the bench at the wrong time. Maybe it's a way to try and shake any tagging, as they would disrupt their own game plan bringing players on and off for no reason.

He looked very sluggish during the warm up. Maybe he wasn’t 100%? Not sure if sore or sick but he looked to be hampered.

We finally found some form on saturday or some players found some form.

They say winning form is good form so unless there are any injuries I would not change the 22.

Keilty deserves a second week, there is a considerable difference between the pace of an AFL game and the vfl.

Give him a chance to adapt to the increased speed.

The main thing I noticed was that we were horrid in the first half with turnover after turnover but we kept at it where as in previous weeks we would have fallen away.

The second half we still had turnovers but less of them and again kept at it.

We have to start somewhere and hopefully we continue this week against gold coast.

He is in everything and is nearly always in an advantageous position. Works like a trooper across a game. Incredibly talented clearance specialist. Glad he had a little respite brought about by improved teamwork. He can be overworked.

Also want to get a gauge on how he compares to the Suns young players, at this stage.

Agree, first half was shocking, and interpretation of 50m rule hurt us. At least in the 3rd quarter we had 10-15 minute patch when we almost looked like a decent team.

Hopefully we can build on the good pieces of play from the 2nd half and have a few decent quarters against the Suns.

If Pruess and Viney are fit they will get a game this week. Wagner out and probably Kielty, even though after a long wait don’t mind if he gets a couple on the trot.

Lewis on his last legs.

Good to see Hibberd looking a lot better and TMac showing some signs in the 2nd half.

Fingers crossed we get on a roll and have a good win against GC,  would generate some confidence and with a couple of other players coming back, you never know when it comes to our Dees!

If Jeffy is out for a week or two , Id like to see Oliver tried in the forward pocket  for a qtr or so with Pruess or Gawn at Full forward.

Someone said he is getting less game time because of fitness, if correct he is still fantastic at roving packs and it would make him go for his shots more if he is closer to goal. Pruess with Clarry and Hunt in pockets could be workable.

Watching him on Saturday, I think the problem might be his back, rather than his legs. He seems either unwilling or unable to bend over which may explain why he goes to ground so often when there is a ground ball to retrieve. He's still willing to stand his ground in marking contests, knows where to position himself and (most times) kicks with precision, but it's not sustainable to keep him in the side for much longer if he can't pick up the ball from the ground. The time will come for him to retire -possibly quite soon -  and I hope when it comes it is done in a respectful way.

Garlett has a hamstring issue according to  Sam Edmund on SEN.

Could be an unfortunate out?

Hoping it’s the corky that was reported on game day. Encouraging second half by Jeffy and one I thought he could build on for the rest of the year.

If he does miss C Wagner seems ahead of Spargo for a recall.

I hope it was a corky too, but he was off the ground a fair bit in the last quarter including the final siren.

Hopefully Edmund has got this one wrong, but the fact he's gone out of his way to report a hamstring injury is not a great sign.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
