Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Don't want to be a wowser... but..

The predictability of the last 50 seconds was a concern. Melksham was never going to make the distance and the Hawks won and moved to ball very quickly, we were powerless to stop it until the long ball inside 50

The ball goes where rhe players go. Everyone was keen to get back, so contest was going to come inside 50 with numbers around.

Melksham made a bad error not laying his kick up in to the pocket so we could hem it in. If Gawn was drawing attention Keilty and/or Tom Mc should’ve been the targets leading hard to the boundary.

1 of 1000 mistake in the last 2 minutes alone but a controllable one. Still, he was clever to waste the 30 seconds

Lockhart showed his upside today with his ability to turn congestion in to space with some quick moves and hands. Plus turned a hospital kick in to a shot on goal with that pretty move at half forward to Hunt.

Glad we stuck with him, his skills on both sides and nippy movement should pay dividends if he builds from today

Oliver needs to practice his hand balling cause I reckon at least 90% of his handballs missed the target today.

Omac has an ok game but needs to practice going at the footy rather than waiting for it to come to him.

The umps did everything to help Whoreform - even break the rules of the game, blatantly - all the way to the half-time break. And, it showed.

Yep absolute disgrace

Lockhart seems to be an upgrade on Spargo and Jeffy has good energy today.

Hunt has a good game and TMac took a couple of big marks, so forward line was much better.

We looked to play with more confidence after half time, and should have been further in front.

Thought we defended well too and Marty Hore is a great find.

What really pisses me off is this magical protected zone whose limit seems to vary with the whim of the umpire. Blatant similar ones not paid, blatant worse ones under the old rules (which still apply) ditto.    Since the umpires are guessing already, why not have them guess whether the player running past is likely to interfere with the player with the ball.  If not, no 50m.  Almost every one of these 'in the protected zone' penalties would require the infringing player to tear muscles to be able to change direction to interfere with the player with the ball.

Yep, intent and faking such intent is not considered. Actual interference is occurring at a rate very close to zero per game so this rule is absolutely redundant, already. When the offence (as such) does occur, then pay the free -- not in anticipation of a free being appropriate if the line of attack or passage is actually intended to such an extent that it is interference.

I liked the argy bargy between Hunt and Sicily late in the 3rd.  There were a couple of other skirmishes around the ground.  They all seemed to really fire up the team because they ran faster and were desperate afterwards

After round 2 Goodwin said he wants the team 'to play grumpy'.  I guess he meant 'unsociable football'.  They did today and it was great to see a bit of aggro back in the team.

By the way, Goodwin looked quite emotional after the siren.  Big hug for Macca was good to see.

Agree, love how he gets to every player and just hugs them. Saw Macca and him give each other a hug to. At 3/4 time I saw him talk to goody about something, I think it was about Oscar because Macca said something to him as he was about to walk to his position. Just a bit of encouragement to him and a word.

But gee that will get the confidence back up I hope. I thought Goody giving them 4 days off was a bad idea but the break to freshen up may have helped.

Good to see Tommy get the ball back in his hand, taking some marks and kick a goal

Harmes apart from the 2 dumb 50's he gave away and Im pretty sure he will know not to go in that area again was just awesome. He shut down O'Meara after 1/4 time. He only had 4 possessions after that. Plus Harmes kicked an important goal.

Max was back to hs marking best and his ruck work. Apart from that stupid short kick in the final minutes he stood up.

I just love Lockhart and Hore. They are adding something to this team.

Jeffy was good to. Yes he was selfish in that first quarter but his pressure was pretty good after that. Sometimes he could have gone for goal and it was like he was in 2 minds about giving it off or not.

Keilty Id give another game to. He didn't get a lot but when he contested the ruck in that final term and then roved it himself, ran forward and set up the goal that was beautiful.

I just watched the final 2 minutes of the AFL site. Wow Frost was huge there. Also to Dwayne Russell, Frost isn't a goal keeper he is a full back.

On the umpiring they clearly missed that 50 metre penalty when Scully got done for holding the ball and the hawks player kicked it away. Also I remember Roughead got tackled in the middle of the ground and placed the ball on the ground and the ump said play on.

If we said we’d kick 11 goals for the game a win would be unlikely. Brilliant team effort, especially in the second half. Guts personified.

Lucky for Demonland to express thoughts, the voice has gone. The inexplicable decision not to award the 50 late in the game finished me off.

Mebourne supporters are loud when they want to be. Great to see so many smiles after the siren.

The best passage of play was Hunt’s lead from the goal square which resulted in a goal.

He actually waited and didn’t lead at the ball carrier too early.

It was good to see a decent lead for once.

Hibbo seems to be getting back to some good touch as well

The Match Review in The Age:

"Now with the Hawks, Scully heard the jeers when he had his first possession in the opening minutes. The Demons' frustration grew when he was involved in two pieces of play which resulted in a Gunston goal but Scully soon faded".

Dees fans will never forget! ?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
