Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Thats not even what i was suggesting at all.

And i cant even be bothered trying to explaing you anyway, im sure you'll work it out.

I don't get why this slow team would be better being slower, on a wet, slow ground? I don't think you could explain it even if you could be bothered. I have no idea what you are suggesting? Perhaps that we have not been losing by enough?

Just hope we have reached our nadir last week and we start to improve. Or else its official we are back to the Schwabovian nightmare. Time to turn our season around is still on our side but only just.

I reckon the nadir was vs St Kilda. I saw some improvement in key structural areas vs Richmond.

Still, point taken, we can only afford to improve from here or we're in dire straits.

I agree with @Moonshadow - I expect to see the Hawks switching across half-back, opening up the fat side of the ground, and trying to move the ball down the wings with pace.

Three things I really want to see today (other than a win of course) - the forward press not being as high (which we saw steps towards vs Richmond), some marks inside 50 (or at least contests which bring the ball to ground), and more forward pressure from the mid/small forwards (Garlett, Hunt, Melksham, Petracca).

We passed through the straits of dire 2-3 weeks ago. We’re now in the cave of no return (classic D Gen - how do you know it’s the cave of no return? “I’ve been there before”).

So let’s see if this club has any ATTITUDE at all.

Goodwin your job is on the line, your players do not work hard enough every week. You can give me all the fancy [censored] answers about “processes in place” but that is all new age BS

It all comes down to Attitude.

There is little pride in wearing the MFC Jumper, it has been shat on for too long, so now it smells bad.

Lift your game Goodwin, Coach the dam team to win.

Yep, i sense a repeat of the Richmond game. Close for the first half, signs that we are fading in the third, before being blown away in the last.

Hawks by 8+ goals.

Unfortunately, it's not, we are stuck with him until 2022. Our window is nailed shut. Goodwin could not get the job done inheriting a good list. There is no evidence that he can rebuild anything, or develop a plan B, his job is safe as long as contracted.

Contracts can be easily broken, Goodwin won’t last long if nothing changes.

There is too much other money, reliant on positive results at stake.

We have been through the “patient” years

I agree that his job isn’t on the line right now, but no one likes being under unnecessary pressure. Having said that, coaches get sacked all the time mid contract so, it’s not iron clad.

Not these days - it is too expensive. When was the last coach sacked? I think Neeld was the last in the league and there has not been one since. Coaches don't get sacked anymore it reflects badly on the clowns who did due diligence on hiring in the first place.

If we are still rubbish next season Goodwin will go. Membership and Sponsorship $$$’s will dictate that.  I don’t think you realize how much money flows through an AFL Club.

The Coach’s Salary is only a small portion

I can’t overstate my excitement for today. Get to be in the rooms before the game for the jumper presentation then it’s meeting up with all the friends and family for the big day.

Don’t know you, never met you, but like many Demonlanders have followed your story with interest. Truly very excited for you and hope this is the beginning of something special for you and Dec. God knows we need a good news story..

Am a little bit jealous- wish my brother was debuting today, but unfortunately- he is a spud ?

Good luck mate, enjoy the game and the experience!!

Nor is there  also evidence that he has failed.

This has happened plenty of times before at plenty of other clubs, within the last decade and a bit

Thompson at Geelong

Clarkson at Hawthorn

Hardwick at Richmond

Simpson at WCE

Roos at Sydney

Aside from Beveridge, who had a lucky tin ar$e month - all premiers (and those who are there abouts 'Buckley')...have slumped before reaching the pinnacle.

Success is never linear, just because you want it now, doesn't mean its a failure...and to use a cliche - it's a process.

Richmond should have sacked Hardwick in 2016 and Collingwood Buckley in 2017. Lighten up champ.

None of those were sacked and all are better coaches than Goodwin. I want the Demons to win and be successful but I am a realist. I just can't see it happening under Goodwin, he does not think on his feet. Goodwin will manage the team and speak well publically but success needs a coach that can coach well.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
