Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Food for thought. The Football inner sanctum is a bit of an incestuous environment. CW , all dismissives aside does often have decent,if unfortunate , lines of information.

The other side of coin becomes her agendas. These are often not of our suiting. She vehemently hates all things Schwab.

Some occasional sources of goss suggest we aren't as warm and fuzzy atm as have been quite recently.

Not everyone is swimming the same way. All think it's best for Melbourne. Same ol...

Yet @Wiseblood, who has a contact in the McCartney clan, has indicated that the coaches and staff are not at war with each other, that they are more focussed on fixing our maliase than pointing fingers.

It's all food for thought, Bub, and who the f knows?!

However, there are certainly those on here that like to make up [censored] based upon far fetched correlations or who are perennially outraged and thrive on our misery, demanding heads roll everywhere.

Certainly you are right in that CW has her own agendas and loves footy politics

Personally I don’t feel like Pert has any influence on our current on field outcomes. Just the same as PJ had no influence, besides challenging the footy dept when required.

Fanciful and trollish to keep suggesting otherwise I think.

Disagree. If the CEO is shithouse, the football club is usually shithouse.

Don't get me wrong, I have no idea what's going on inside the football club and do not pretend to.

However, to say the CEO has no influence on the on field performance is failing to understand how organisations function. It becomes cultural and the agenda is set from the top down.

In terms of speculation, I do find it highly unlikely that we'd go from premiership fancies and top 4 finishers last year, to wooden spooners within 7 weeks, all because of a CEO though. Culture doesn't permeate that quickly.

IMO, the reasons for the drastic downturn in performance on field from what I can tell (by what has been said by the club and others connected to it in the media), are varied. From a broken system; players failing to implement the system; players not being fit enough to implement the system; players coming back late because of surgeries; players coming back unfit to pre season; the shortened pre season; potential disharmony amongst the players and coaches; and poor match day coaching.

There may well be other reasons not yet revealed, but mid (2-3 seasons) to long term (5+ seasons), the CEO will help shape how functional or dysfunctional an organisation is. In football terms, if the club is dysfunctional off field, it will eventually translate to on field performance.

I hope the right decision has been made with regards to Pert. I will wait and see.

Whether or not you feel Pert’s appointment has had any influence on this unfolding debacle, let’s not pretend the decline started this season. Let’s recognise that we were completely humiliated in the final game of season 2018 before Pert had even started. That team is this team.

"The old Melbourne guard - a vocal and gregarious group of former committeemen, coterie and old Melburnians (the school not the club) - were loud in their condemnation that Bartlett had recruited a Collingwood discard. Admittedly many of this group have had their time at board level with underwhelming results but many still give generously to the club. Ditto the Demons' most influential past players and ditto a long list of other club CEOs who have great respect for the achievements of the outgoing Peter Jackson and were dismayed that Jackson had been totally shut out of the search for his successor."

Good to know Caro got one last story out of the people who spent all of 2011-2013 leaking to her.

The ructions over Pert’s appointment started back in June 2018 during and after the hiring process.

It very much sounds to me that you could be one of those people in Wilson's supposed inside information article about unrest because of Pert's appointment.

Wilson is just another of the sewer rat brigade that masquerade as journalists.

Hilarious people talking about putting people on ignore because they don't agree with their opinion on a forum.

I'm not in the camp of blaming Pert for anything just yet, but to suggest he couldn't possibly have any influence yet is categorically incorrect. Culture starts at the top and can flow down quicker than you think. Anyone who has served in the military will have a very good concept of this. No-one here is a fly on the wall in the MFC offices, so it's all just speculation in the end.

Not really. It's quite strange to watch people refute this notion with authority when they couldn't possibly be fully informed on the inner workings involving the CEO of a footy club.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
