Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Once someone is linked to a hawks you might as well walk away.. They are so ruthless and just know how to get the job done.

Yes. If the Hawks are into him, he has already committed to them. It's almost as if the Hawks modus operandi is to instruct a player to get injured, pick him up cheap, then turn him into a gun.

As others have pointed out the Hawks may think they have him stitched up but how are they going to compensate GWS for him? AFL rules say they can’t trade out their first round picks again this year. There’s a window of opportunity for us right there but it would require some seriously bold and aggressive trading on our part to trump the Hawks’ offer.

Everyone thought May to Collingwood was a done deal last October until we shipped out Hogan and leapfrogged them on the checkers board.

Nothing’s done until it’s done. And to concede that Clarkson can just waltz around and do as he pleases unchallenged is exactly the type of thinking that will keep a club like ours at the foot of the ladder.

If you were in his shoes which club would you join?

Not a hard one to answer.

2020 First rounder + 2019 second rounder.

Take 2019 first rounder to draft, Steve Coniglio as FA.

They bring in Patton, Coniglio and 2019 first rounder.

We have invested enough in the big boys, May, Lever, Weid, time to recruit more quality mids, it’s meant to be our strength but lack depth badly in this area..

Coniglio no problem offer him plenty.

We need top-flite class to aid our coalface players.

Recruiting Patton maybe similar to other recruits, large price tag that rarely gets on the field.

$700k is not high stakes these days for a 25yo key forward.

‘High price tag’ is the $1.2-1.5m it would take to get Jeremy Cameron’s manager to answer the phone.

Patton’s injury history is a risk but again the Hawks aren’t baulking at it and Patton himself seems brimming with confidence.

Risk v Reward.

The bigger risk is doing nowt and expecting a different outcome in 2020 IMO.

He fits the mandatory highly injury prone bill for our high priced recruitment, but he's actually a good player and plays a position we need. So we will pass. Plus it sounds like he wants to play for a decent team which rules us out. Only Gillies and Dawes-esque players would be attracted to this trainwreck.

Thanks for the obvious. Relevance?

Relevance is we are on the bottom and need to consider change. Some of our best kicks play in defence and maybe it’s worth them distributing to the forwards - Salem is the best example. We generally win contested footy and inside 50s, but rarely do we have quality delivery into the forward line. It was just a thought

Sure. That's why I've been suggesting going hard for Cognilio as a FA and drafting Rowell or Anderson

25 Yo with 3 knee recos

People having a go at the club for getting Lever who ends up doing a knee again.

I can only imagine if Patton come over & done a knee!

Yep, obvious isn't it.

But if Hawthorn are allegedly after him he must be fine... ??

The Hawks can have him.    Watch them play the Blues, they're getting flogged and their recruiting of injury prone players (O Meara, Scully etc ) will not end well for them.

Scully has done nothing for the hawks this year.

The point is only you want Patton.

Why start a thread if you don't accept perfectly logical counter suggestions which happen to be right?

Oliver is our only clean A grader. Brayshaw's foot disposal is average, B grader. The rest are either perennially injured, not playing as mids or horrifically out of form. Open your eyes mate.

You're the type of poster who will watch the Hawk mids tear us a new one next week and still claim Patton is a better get than a free agent Cognilio!

Can't be bothered wasting any more time on this, C ya

Is Brashaw the same guy who polled third in last years Brownlow despite not playing AFL in the first couple of rounds?

It was always going to catch up with Hawthorn, their lack of top picks over a string of years. They haven't got enough talent in their team.

Ironically, their game style is much better suited to the 'G than Tassie. They'll run rings around us next week, despite having a weak midfield. Their game style is so much better, particularly on the MCG.

The thing about Clarkson is they'll always be on the fringe of the 8 or the top 4, because of Clarkson's ability to establish a system that enables him to bring in average players to play 'system'. Their ability to rebuild will be based on trading and shrewd recruiting, because they won't have many top 10 picks.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
