Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If you think the quality of entries is the sole reason Weid and TMac can’t mark the footy you’ve got rocks in your head. You’re way too forgiving.

Or maybe you’re right and that Clarko is a mug when it comes to recruiting.

Clarko has:

Tom Mitchell

Omeara

Impey

Warpedo

Isaac Smith

Sheils

$cully.

Strong rumour is they have Cognilio in their sights.

3 x A graders at least. 4 if they get Cognilio.

With that midfield, of course they will also go for Patton to replace Roughy. It's a no brainer.

Do you even watch the game, mate???

Move on.

Yeah I watch the game thanks for asking.

We’ve got:

Clarry

Gus

Viney

Harnes

Petracca

Salem

Hunt

3 A Graders there too with potential of 2 more and our sights set on who knows.

Your point?

The point is only you want Patton.

Why start a thread if you don't accept perfectly logical counter suggestions which happen to be right?

Oliver is our only clean A grader. Brayshaw's foot disposal is average, B grader. The rest are either perennially injured, not playing as mids or horrifically out of form. Open your eyes mate.

You're the type of poster who will watch the Hawk mids tear us a new one next week and still claim Patton is a better get than a free agent Cognilio!

Can't be bothered wasting any more time on this, C ya

Brayshaw a B grader? Mmmkay. Third in ‘18 Brownlow says you’re wrong. As would most knowledgeable pundits.

And correct me if I’m mistaken but I seem to recall our midfield putting  Hawthorn’s to the sword about seven games ago?

Im perfectly happy to read your counter suggestions but it’s you I’m afraid who’s been shown to have Swiss cheese holes in your logic.

Again, if he’s good enough for Clarko he’s good enough for ya. We should be making serious enquiries about Jonno Patton.

Thanks for proving my point

Name one of our mids with A grade foot skills, partic inside 50 delivery? Oliver comes closest, but no cigar. Salem and Fritter are playing back. The rest are average to poor. What hope do our forwards have?

Cognilio and Rowell/Anderson/Young would be a massive improvement going inside 50

Patton can't get on the park, would command $800k pa and cost a 1st round pick in trade. But sure, I'll go with your call.

FMD...

Unrelated to this topic but that gets me thinking, why don’t we try a few of our best ball users to distribute to the forwards - Fritsch, Salem, Melksham etc. Currently it’s painful watching some of forwards leading and it goes directly to an out of position opposition player

Melksham played some time in the midfield on Wednesday, and looked ok early on. By quarter time I thought he was doing well. Faded like the rest of the team

Unfortunately, Salem and Fritter are needed in the backline to distribute. Lewis, Hibbert, Frost and Hunt cannot be trusted to kick the ball with any degree of reliability. Lewis spends most of his time on hands and knees

Prefer Jeremy Cameron...

Has the edge over Patton where it counts playing as a key forward (career averages)...

> Marks inside 50 (elite)

> Marks on a lead (elite)

> Score involvements (6.4 per game!)

> Goals (2.6 per game... elite).  Finished 7th for average goals scored per game 2018 (just  behind T-Mac) and presently leading the Coleman.

Free agent.  No brainer.

Not a free agent = Brainer. Sell the farm for Cameron as a 'pre-agent' a la May or compete in a crowded market? We don't have the draft credits to get it done so would have to trade out. Weid to Collingwood would be a start: may as well capitalise on McGuire's grand-pa/grandson fetish while he still has some influence. Pick 18 & 19 (exaggerated estimated Collingwood first and MFC second-rounder before adjustments) for Cameron might get it done a year ahead of f/a. Would you pay that?

I'm amazed that many think Hawthug is somehow the measuring stick for what we should do in 2019 for an attack on the flag in 2020. That is the club we towelled up six months ago and consequently went out in straight sets, didn't make the finals in 2017 and went out in straight sets again in 2016. So they haven't won a final in three years . . . the same time they have taken money ball to a whole new level. (And for what it's worth . . . won't win a final in 2019 IMHO.) Anyone who thinks the Dorks currently have it sussed is living in an alternative reality (shoot . . . I realised I'm writing this on Demonland . . . the home of alternative reality).

Hawthorn has been the measuring stick of what the MFC should do for the past 10? 20? 30? 40? hell let’s say 50 years.

I emphasise the word ‘should’.

Yes.  You have to move heaven & a bit of earth sometimes to get what you want and obtain the ultimate prize.  The top line clubs have been doing this for decades.  Even the Bulldogs did it, once, and snared one!   We are still in a window if alot goes right from here.

Lets get it done Demons.

P.S. not the greatest brain at any point...especially with drafts/trade details!  Proceed with caution.

As good as he is the greater priority for us is a key forward. Can’t go into 2020 with current personnel in the forward half.

We will have a top 4 pick to draft a quick midfielder with. Quite possibly pick 1.

Look at the Pies. Cox and DeGoey.

No way we’ll have pick 1.

28 goals 2014

37 goals 2016

SuperCoach points and average marks taken per game climbed north every season bar periods out injured.

And still only 25yo.

The raw stats don’t match your assessment. Nor Clarkson’s.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
