Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Damn good assessment

Agree. A quality read with some strong points and arguments. 100% agree with his comments about our surfeit of contested ball winners and it is a point I have made since roos came to the club (which by the by is why I reckon roos should shoulder some blame for our unbalanced list and lack of skills for that matter).

He doesn't note that the he issue of too many contested ball winnets is componded by the fact all are butchers with the ball.

My only quibble is that he like so many others, does not take into account that it is not injury alone that is our issue. The issue is injury PLUS a rubbish preseason (an issue that was in turn compounded by some players not coming back in great shape if Lewis is to be believed). We were never close to being fit enough as our scoring (or more accurately our lack of scoring) p patterns clearly showed.

I feel pretty strongly that we are going to come to the stage where we have to trade one of the three big inside bulls, Viney, Brayshaw, Oliver and in my opinion Viney is the most one dimensional of the three.

If Oliver is in any such discussions i'll eat my hat PO.

And i doubt Viney would be looked at while Todd is in the house.  The fact he had an interrupted pre-season, gut feel is the FD will be keeping the faith here for an expected return to 'the old Jack' in 2020 assuming a full pre-seaaon.

That leaves Gus.  I think his underwhelming performance leaves him a tad vulnerable.  Who knows he might also want to head back home anyway to play with bro.  Meant to be?

Agree with the sentiment though.  Something has to give as we are well 'overweight' inside mids.  Time to free up some room if possible for some genuine outside and/or forward talent.

You can’t trade Oliver. I do believe every player is tradeable for the right price. It’s just no club can afford him / offer a realistic trade.

Viney is father son that addressed leadership issues from the moment he arrived and drives standards across the club. He is feared by opposition when his body holds up.

Brayshaw is a favourite of mine and I think his kicking misfortune is more to do with what is ahead of him ie. our structures than his poor use.

Of the 3 only Brayshaw could be traded and that is doubtful with his concussion issues meaning we wouldn’t get what a player with his output deserves.

One thing often neglected in these threads is the lack of players wanting to leave MELBOURNE. We wanted Hogan out and had to push Watts out kicking and squealing.

List management has many facets but keeping key personal is vitally important if not the most important factor. Particularly, in the age of free agency where you can lose or gain serious talent for nothing but salary cap space.

Not sure if either have been mentioned but surely we'd be looking at the below mature aged players from the state leagues.

Matt Hammellman has kicked 60 + goals two years in a row in the NEAFL. Previously listed at Brisbane and delisted in 2017. 197cm strong marking forward.

Liam McBean is leading the SANFL goal kicking this year with 46 goals from 17 games. 202cm forward, delisted by Richmond in 2016.

Love the name

Kerr from the blues officially delisted, this is someone i would consider as a delisted free agent or a rookie, he's big and strong, has a good set of hands and has a real presence around the ground. considering he'd come for nothing i think we could do a lot worse than roll the dice on this kid for a year or 2

Thoughts on Zac Fisher? i think he's got a lot of the attributes we're looking for. i've heard the Blues are potentially open to including him in trade packages to land jack Martin. i wonder if we could get involved in that and get him to the club.

I like it. Trades make sense to get Langdon, Jenkins and Amon.  Anb and Stretch are perfect trade options. Walker will be gone but probably only have 44/45 on list.

Use pick #2 or 3 on Anderson/Ash. #39 (Miles Bergman Wing) # 57 (Brodie Newman HBF)

rookie option is Blake Kuipers. 196cm ruck/forward.  Impressed in games for Dandenong Stingrays. Reminds me of Tom Lynch (tigers) in style but only new to footy after volleyball background.  Huge potential.

I thought Petty was more impressive better around the ground and defensively. Can't rely on Weideman has to show plenty next pre season.

With the draft picks I'm looking at 3 wingman\hbf and 3 small forwards. Do you have any small forwards we can look at?

i wonder, if we do execute the split with the two picks in the teens that gw$ hold, whether we'll go for brodie kemp, the kid who did his knee but was originally touted as a top five pick?

I hope so - he is described as playing like the Bont. That is good enough for me.

I always love these types of theories "I don't want these players so I'll use them in trades". why in earth would either side do those deals?

Unless opposition clubs come out and say they want either of our players they stay (or get delisted)

One of their better players. That'd be quite incredible if they traded him.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
