Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I beg to differ, and I wouldn’t trade him for anything less than a top 10.

We need him 'Mach' but I don't think we would get a top 10 pick for him...his currency will rise though if he keeps up his present form.

At the moment he's our best kept secret, probably due to the rest of the team performing so poorly. Would have to be leading the B&F by a fair margin.

Opposition supporters may not know, but think other clubs definitely do.

You have to give something to get something, and i think Harmes is the most likely player to have reached his peak value out of our mids, whereas the rest have a far higher ceiling and will get better as runners. Our core inside mids can be surrounded by better runners than Harmes and they will flourish even more. Petracca is the only other player i think that has collateral, and his ceiling is far too high for the next few years before a trade is even thinkable for a player like Langdon who's more your pick 15-20 player.

Harmes will not be traded. Full stop.

Harmes absolutely would be traded if the price was right, i think you're incorrect. The question i'm answering is Langdon vs Harmes. I'd take Langdon and that's the trade it would take to get him right now. They wouldnt take our 2nd round pick imo. And I wouldn't trade Salem for Langdon. We have too many similar mids, hence the need to 'diversify'

A pick. Not first round. And definitely not Harmes.

The going price would've been a second rounder two years ago when we last had a crack at him. He'll cost a first rounder now in my opinion. He'd currently be leading Freo's best and fairest and would be All Australian on the season so far. His pace and running power both ways are currently amongst the best in the AFL. His trademark is using his pace to run opponents down from behind.

Can't remember the last time a Melbourne player ran that hard defensively for half the field!

Ed Langdon 2019 average stats:
28 disposals
4 inside 50s
4 rebound 50s
2 clearances
3 tackles
8 marks
5 score involvements
505 metres gained
disposal efficiency of 77%

For comparison sake, he's at a similar point in his career to Christian Salem, but was drafted a year later and is performing slightly better. Would you trade Salem for a second rounder?

Christian Salem 2019 average stats:
26 disposals
2 inside 50s
6 rebound 50s
1 clearance
3 tackles
4 marks
3 score involvements
464 metres gained
disposal efficiency 70%

Langdons out of contract and if he asks for a trade then you generally get away with paying less. If a club chased salem, offered as bigger contract while under contract, i would expect a later first round, same situation as above and you'd be getting an early to mid second round pick.

Players have to much power, who other than kelly for geelong hasnt got thei r own way when asking for a trade under contract recently?

A player says i want to be traded to x club, x club offers what they want, stand off, then the club normally accepts less than they wanted from said club. Unless its melbourne, then we blink first and pay more.

Do we get one pick (Nietschke) or two (Walker) in this mid-season draft? Seems NQR that you'd be allowed to pick a ready made player to replace a Category B rookie but with the AFL who knows.

Wonder if there's any electric forwards in the mix? Helps take a chance on somebody unusual when you can chuck them 12 weeks later.

Only one pick sadly.

Just seen a post on a Facebook trading page that tom papley might seek to come back to Victoria at season's end. 23 years old in July and is a quality & speedy small forward.

Us along with the blues, saints, doggies and norf are currently the teams to express interest

As a poster said earlier, we could, and not without significant risk, back ourselves and trade next year's future first rounder. In the belief that it would equate to somewhere between picks 15 to 18.

Mid Season draft now really shapes as an important pick for us, we can add something really important straight up. We will have a pick in the top 4, apologies i couldn't find a mid season draft page.

I feel we should take a punt on a classic footballer, no project players, get a seasoned player in and give them a chance.

i would love to get one of the host of victorians playing at freo back as cheaply as possible

be it langdon, brayshaw, cerra, ryan...the idea of pilfering one of their 20-23 year old vic boys after they've taken several of our wa boys in the past appeals greatly

Out of interest, who have they got from us? Hogan, Farmer and ?

I'd like Langdon... But I reckon we should go all out for free agent Coniglio, first and foremost...  with Jones and Lewis nearing the outer edge of the AFL footy. And Jeffy... then Nev,  not too far off, as well.

... so, for what I've read above... In order I'd want us to go hard at >>>

Coniglio 1st.....  open your cheque-book Melbourne...  this one we have to WIN.

Langdon 2nd

Papley 3rd

Tom is a very good player and a something that we lack, a quality crumbed. He was recruited from Casey so he knows a lot of the boys on our list. Very gettable.

Re Sydney 'bottoming out'.  On OTC last night Roos said he was aware there were 2 outstanding players in the draft.

It made me think Sydney is positioning to get them: one with a very early pic and the other with an upgrade of a low 20's pic.  It may be a race to the bottom between them and Carlton.

Didn't WCE and Colllingwood do something similar at one stage?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
