Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

On a more serious note; kudos to Hardwick for a developing a system of play that players can understand and have confidence in. Tonight fielding the 5 youngest players on the park and they didn’t miss a beat.

Am I too late to play, I swear I haven't seen any pressers yet.

1. Proud that we were able to play something like 'the Melbourne way' in the first quarter.

2. Proud  that we showed a defensive edge and didn't leak goals under pressure in the second.

3. Disappointed that late in the game our concentration lapsed, which resulted in a scoreline that I thought we did better than.

4. We have something to work with and will go into next weeks game against Hawthorn with a much clearer view of what still needs to be worked on.

5. No, the season is not over for us, we have a great opportunity to play 'the Melbourne way' next week against quality opposition, and really set ourselves up for a return to form. I think our supporters can begin to believe that we are beginning to begin to turn the beginning of a corner.

then go out next match and do it again

In the year forty five forty five
our rate of scoring goals will rise to the sky
we'll shoot at goal again and again
some games as much as nine or ten

the club will pull out of our crash dive
we may start to win some games
and even push for finals again, woa-woh

Goody's living in Disneyland.

Statistically our worst team performance for the year.

We also nearly cracked the turnover ton reaching what must be some kind of record with 97!

6 players accumulated nearly 50% of those alone, racking up 46 turnovers between them, they were....

Viney,  Melk,  Gus,  Frosty,  Hibb and  T-Mac

Two players racked up over 20% of our turnovers between them @ 10 a piece in Viney & Melk.

We got lucky tonight with theTiges missing many getable set shots as well.  The scoreboard flattered our performance and the Tigers weren't even hitting anywhere near their straps IMO.

Could it get any worse?  If we don't address the core problems and keep the blinkers on....hell yes!

P.S. Our team DE% hit rock bottom for this season @ 58.64%.  That's 14.3% below the approx usual AFL average of 73%!   That's the sort of disposal numbers one might expect from a half decent VFL level team (if they were forced to come into the AFL and play).

Forward pressure?  3 tackles inside 50.  2 from Garlett, 1 from Bull Smith.  That was it

I was listening to SEN on the way in and they interviewed their assistant Adam Kingsley. He mentioned that Hardwick is an amazing presenter, communicator and really knows how to motivate his players.

Goody seems very robotic at times, but hopefully he's improving his communication skills a long the way.

Hire the Richmond tackling coach, seriously if that manic style is what we are supposed to be playing then we need to poach the mentors of the teams that can do it properly. MFC is a sad place to be. I have no faith at all.

Simpleton comment.

Yes but we aren’t mentally anything like them.

We are a bunch of marshmallows.

It started in Perth in the Prelim and sadly no recovery in sight.

Seriously, 2 goals after quarter time last night. I was there - no wind and wasn’t that cold. No excuses. Richmond should’ve won by 10 goals.

We are going nowhere.

I can see how this season will now play out. We will be crap until mathematically out of the finals race. Then play good footy again. Everyone then will have high hopes for next season and set up for the next sucker punch. Jones will get another season.

The up side is we will have no.1 pick in the draft.

we have survived as supporters for decades on hope for the following year and enjoying the draft period as our season highlight.

This year is after all just another one of those years.

The sad part for me is that after 2018 I thought that stuff was behind us however it is now back to situation normal.

Summary of press conference:

We were better, because quite frankly, we couldn’t be any worse.

Our skills are deplorable.  Whilst I use the word ‘connection by hand and foot’, what I mean is the most basic skills that even the under 12’s would be expected to deliver.

Our forwards are out of form so badly we cannot even hide them in the backline

They will have 4 days away from the club.  Seek.com will be busy.

We are all in this together.  No one can escape this sinkhole of a season with any dignity alone.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
