Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Except that it's not Misson's responsibility to clear players to play or not.

But heh, facts.

When Misson came on board the medical staff left because he had the final say on who played or not.

What do you know that has changed? Just facts, that's all I want.

The comment from Goodwin was that, if the Melbourne footy club was in Perth, then he would have stayed.

Going by what we've seen and heard, it sounded as though Jesse wanted to go back to Perth if a trade could be done, and we were happy to facilitate it now to get something out of it.

A month ago everyone was lauding the fact we traded him due to his off field issues.  Now he plays one good game, May is injured and we are going bad and it’s the worst trade in history.

Talk about jumping at shadows.

That last sentence is a neat summary of everything that is wrong with Demonland.

A trade is the "worst trade ever" unless it turns out to not be.

Well there it is. Roos has confirmed what most of us have been saying - that a substantial part of the list fronted up for preseason unfit. Someone has dropped the ball bigtime and needs to be held to account. It makes the Club look like a pack of amateurs. Completely inexcusable.

Barring post season surgeries (no finals this year), how about sending the whole team to the Kokoda Track end of the season? Might learn something about commitment, determination and sacrifice. Just a suggestion. Was thinking about this when buying my ANZAC badge today.

can someone post this as cant open...

So sad if the culture of the club hasn't changed!

Paul Roos says too many Melbourne players came back in poor physical shape for them to be a premiership contender, believing the Demons are heading for a bottom-four finish.

Former Melbourne coach Roos said the club’s game style in the first five rounds was “terrible”, stunned by their horror early start to the year.

Melbourne players have hit out at star recruit Steven May for his poor shape but Roos said his understanding was many players were unfit when they returned.

He stepped up his fight against the AFL’s player union, adamant clubs should have more control over their players all year.

AFLPA boss Paul Marsh this week said it was nonsense to suggest players had too much time off, saying most of them trained close to every day of the year.

But Roos believes Melbourne’s lack of conditioning — combined with another three-week break over Christmas — has been telling as they start the season with a 1-4 win-loss record.

“What I am hearing is a number of Melbourne people were disappointed with the conditioning,’’ he told 3AW.

“Steven May is on record and Simon Goodwin was disappointed with the way he came back. If you have got a whole group of players who come back poorly it’s a huge, huge disadvantage.

“I believe (it’s) across the board. To be fair to Jack Viney and a few others they did have operations.

“If they are coming back poorly that is three weeks wasted because all you are doing is getting them back into shape and now they have three weeks off again with the PA.”

Marsh told the Herald Sun on Saturday the idea players had huge chunks of time off was “one of the greatest misnomers in the industry” given how much training they did away from clubs.

Roos disagrees and believes clubs should be able to help players keep fit over their off-season break.

“There is a perception you have so much time off, perhaps I am not a full-time footballer. I just happen to be playing football as a vocation. They have to get that out of their mind,” he said.

“They have to drive their own careers and say ‘I don’t care what the PA think’.

Roos said it was hard to see what Melbourne’s coaches should rectify first given the team’s myriad issues.

“May is injured and Lever isn’t coming back (soon). Mitch Hannan and Aaron vandenBerg too. The confidence is eroded, the game style is terrible at the moment.

“There is no connection between the mids and forwards and they are the easiest team to score against statistically. The bigger problem is they need to fix something but there are so many things going wrong with their footy team it’s hard to know where to start.

“They are a bottom four team at the moment. They are a genuine bottom four team the way they are playing at the moment.”

JUST watched On The Couch and Roosy and Lyon reiterated a little of the above, but also said tht we commit to the footy too much. As in, we have too many players going to the ball carrier, which allows sides to get free numbers on the outside. It’s pretty accurate. That, coupled with a lack of leg speed and poor i50s makes us the worst side in the comp right now.

There are a few long-term posters... who cannot contain their frustrations of the footy world,  and so they dish out the anger on fellow posters in mean & derogatory posts... directed at individuals.

And they never seem to be pulled up for it... and score points against their avatars.  Some,  are protected species around here.

It says a lot about those few, who think they are gods gift to footy... and us others are mere posters.

Something for the mods to consider , perhaps

And he would have gone to Collingwood

Maybe, but they would have had to choose between May and Beams, they had no cap room once the Beams situation unfolded. Collingwood never had the assets that were going to tempt the Gold Coast, so it would of come down to how desperate Gold Coast were to offload him.

Be prepared for this comment re: his recruitment to be littered throughout the thread.

While May was unprofessional with the way in which he approached pre-season, and I'm willing to give him a little leeway as he came from the worst club in the comp, we can't judge this deal until he retires.  Moaning about the deal just because it's hit a roadblock early in the piece isn't solving anything.

We know the bloke can play.  If he is part of a premiership side, with Lever right beside him, then I'll be a happy man.  I'm judging it on that.

What, are we going to move both of them on to a professionally run club?

I have so much respect for Roos, and to learn this from him is extremely disappointing. There is no reason to disbelieve him.

What happened to good old fashioned hard work and hunger for success? Not indulgence and she'll be right mate.

Tom Morris reported on The Couch that Brendan McCartney is creating issues with the club and that he and Simon Goodwin relationship the past couple of weeks have been robust. He is also the defence coach along with Chaplin and ghat there seem to have been a breakdown of relationships between McCartney and the players.

Tom Morris is a little grub though.

I also think one of the reasons the sky is falling down with a few injuries is because of a severe lack of depth and a game plan that stinks.

Collingwood last year had a horrific injury list last year that would send this site into meltdown if it was us. GWS also. I think the difference there is they can have bodies come in and play a role because they are educated exactly on the game plan. We have a guy debut or come in and they’re either genuine VFLers or got no idea how to follow this BS zone defence

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
