Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

You're doing it again, dazzle.

You were completely in favour of bringing May to the club. You also posted a link to an article about May's character and what a great person he is.

You can express disappointment/frustration at the way May showed up at the club, or the way the club dealt with his fitness since then, but don't make it sound like the deal was a shocker from the get go because it wasn't, and you certainly didn't think so at the time.

What i didn't not know Titan is him showing up to day 1 unfit. I have also expressed in the past that him publicly shaming GC training standards wasn't the right way to go about it. Yes i was all for bringing May in (still am) but i am judging him on the now.. im sorry but we gave up a valuablepick and he has done nothing to return the favour except turn up unfit and hit some bloke off the ball.

Id stick a fork in him this year. As @Wiseblood said, lets play Petty and see what he has to offer. We have nothing to lose.

Obviously May turned up to the club out-of-shape and was playing catch-up through the preseason. It seems as though he is paying for this now.

However, the current state of the List reeks of mismanagement over summer. Players struggling after surgery, a general lack of fitness, and, most damningly, playing whilst injured both during JLT and the early rounds is either a complete breakdown in the football department or desperation from a coaching staff that is telling supporters it's a long season.

WTF is going on?!

Lets look overseas,  for a top-line Injury and conditioning head.

Too look after our knee and shoulder injuries,  and our FEET issues especially.

You are right about Tallarook. There is something wrong at the club. It isn't raining anymore it is starting to pour. Lets see if they now give the kids a chance or go on in denial.

Has anyone taken the time to speak to an official at Tallarook? They might just have a light cold.

especially when you consider he was eligible to be a free agent at the end of 2019

we could've held our nerve, held onto hogan, and then traded him as a non-free agent at the end of 2019 and picked up may on a freebie

disastrous list management when all is said and done

Yep. We should have kept Hogan till the end of his signed contract and then let him go, said it at the time.

What a disaster year this has evolved into

Hopefully now you can see Misson is [censored] terrible, AF.

It would now seem that way. Of course, it could be bad luck. Jetta certainly came off second best early on in the game, but to me, he looked unfit to play the first time he went near it.

Hogan didn't want to stay & wanted the trade done...dont disagree not looking great now but if a player wants to leave...

FB: Jetta.   Lever.    Hibberd

HB:  Smith.   May.    Kolodjashnij

We have one person available from our best backline (imo) in Hibberd who isn’t exactly in great form.

Id say the backline is the most important group of players who need to ‘gel’ for a team to be successful. They need to know who is going to go and when and back there team mate to win the contest.

I genuinely feel this year is toast. Can only hope all these boys get ten weeks after the bye to play together and develop something great.

Diabolical!  The handling of this team pre season is a disgrace!  As a paid up member I am sick of mismanagement of player injuries and fitness. Keep throwing money at the club that is giving nothing in return.  The club is not accountable to its supporters.  Stuff them!!!

I love Jetta as I think/hope most of us on here do.

But he's been so poor in the games he's played this year that the loss to us of him going out is negligible.

So I agree with you that this is at least a chance to see who else on the list can play on mid/small forwards and aspire to play the role Jetta's been struggling to achieve in 2019.

Fingers crossed Jetta comes back post-bye in good health and can make an impact in the second half of the season.

This (our poor start to this season) might yet have a silver lining for us,  but not this year on the Ladder.

Now Re Jetta being another long out.

We have always been torn up by classy small forwards.

This now, ( because of our ladder position ) and our unavailability of our better players...  gives us the opportunity to try out some kids,  of which we have a few small players, who have some speed.

Sadly I think this will shorten Garlett's time with us.  because he won't play a part in finals, for us.

We have to start to look at our future players, now !!!   Prior to the mid-season draft.

Interestingly... we withdrew many of these kids from our game against the AFL U-18's team this Saturday just gone.

I think, a couple will come in on Wednesday. ?

MFC is managing the whole thing like Fremantle did when they first played finals. Blaming next years poor start on a reduced pre-season, less injury/surgery recovery time and so on.

It's no excuse. Clubs like Hawthorn, Geelong and Sydney plan their whole year around having an off season that runs from early October to February. Clubs like St Kilda and the WB (and it looks like MFC as well) plan an off season that runs from the end of August to February. And they don't seem to be able handle an off season that included some September action.

Don't buy one then and move on.

In fact, I'll buy an extra one next year to make up for it.

The thing is wise, he was a free agent after this year so we paid top value to get him in and make us a threat this year or at the very least create the chemistry with the backline. It's a huge failure no matter how you look at it.

You've made a good point here.  In hindsight.

So its the clubs fault that 17 players needed surgery??

Don't disagree on questioning the  fitness & conditioning from Mission who FYI is leaving, but I dare say he would have warned the coaches  to expect an impact  on their readiness for the season.

I get what you’re tying to stay but all teams have to give players mandatory leave post the end of the year and then usually start preseason the moment that finishes.

So teams finishing earlier without finals obviously start preseason earlier.

One would expect the boys who finish late in September would still be professional enough to look after themselves.

Scully was cheap (trade wise) not just because of his injury if I remember correctly.

He was still on big dollars and in contract which means that the hawks have to pay this in full.

GWS clearly accepted less than what he would go for (trade wise) in order for someone to take over and pay his contract in full.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
