Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The game plan is not working. Heck, nothing is!

If nothing changes, teams will only continue to shut us down more easily as the weeks progress.

Plan B? C? K? Do we have any backup plans?

Oh man. Feels like the bad old days where you just wonder where the improvement is going to come from. It’s been the same story every week really - win the ball and kick it to a forward line that is outnumbered, talls don’t mark it, smalls don’t crumb it and sweet nobody puts any pressure between there and the opposition goals.

I’m ashamed to say I left at 3 q time - literally never left before final siren.

Absolutely gutted.

The upside is my family will get to see a bit more of me this winter.

And loving the fact I rushed to get a [censored] GF guarantee before round 1. I WANT MY [censored] MONEY BACK YOU IMPOTENT WANNABES ?

Game plan stinks and no Plan B

Stubbornly sticking with the way we want to play. I do get this strategy to an extent, but surely it is obvious now that it doesn't stack up and is easily dismantled. We need another game plan

Really poor coaching, or at least the players either refuse or don't know to carry out instructions. Or just simply don't know what to do because we have no plan to counter this type of game.

Capitulated once again when game was in the line and winnable.

We look slow

Disposal is rotten.

Zero plan to actually score rather than spray and pray.

A coach who has no contingency plan.

We are 1-4

Yep. Good times.

My reason being that TMc is obviously injured.  He can't seem to run like last year...  same with Viney,  IMO.

As McClure said earlier in the game,  Melbourne don't have the running power... we enjoyed last year.

Add to this the 666 rule,  and now we are slow as well under this rule.    Open spaces open up with  '666'...  and then we are too slow over the ground when the Oppos' are on they're slingshot.

We have to change our teams structural balance...  more run, more speed.

We have No choice anymore,  but to play Stretch continually.  Sparro will be back in as well,  in my books.

I’m glad I moved away from Melbourne 2 weeks ago. Don’t have to watch that [censored] [censored] anymore.

Nothing worse than having to spend an hour just to get home after a game like that. Now I can just stay at home and watch a movie on the couch.

Unfortunately about 47,000 people have been extorted by the MFC. Let’s take them to court.

Only reason I blame Goodwin is because his keeping Chaplin around. Personally I don’t mind Goodwin but if he doesn’t have the balls to sack Chaplin then the heat will come.

How can you possibly pinpoint which coach is directly responsible for this problem from the outside?

People can say the there was no heart, no desire, not trying, etc. but I disagree.

There was plenty of effort in the first half. The problem was the usual structural issues - we were absolutely slaughtered by a far better structured side forward and behind the ball. St Kilda absolutely schooled us in game style / structure.

So despite dominating most of the game, we were only 3 points up midway through the second quarter. The combined effect of not being able to translate midfield dominance into scores and the leaking of easy goals down the other end absolutely drained the confidence and belief of the players. Then you get what you get in the third quarter.

Time to make changes, especially behind the ball. The free players for the opposition inside 50 week-after-week is just disheartening and deflating for the supporters and obviously the players.

Unfortunately our style of defence is very high risk, super aggressive and only works when you're absolutely on top of your inside game, your forward 50 ground balls and your forward pressure. Clearly the players aren't at the level of last year at the moment and therefore we're getting completely exposed by our aggressive defensive structures. Surely we need some structural changes to help us defend better and stay in games when we're not producing the levels required.

Honestly thought half way through the second quarter we were about to run over them . Had all the play and just needed to tidy up inside 50 entries. But dumb decision making and poor disposal just handed the momentum back to them and it was though we just gave up.

just left the game and walked past the great barassi and just felt sad for him thst he will probably never see a premiership.

What has happened to us since our last game. Maybe we should have reviewed that prelim. A lot of star players down

Can we blame bartlett for getting pert in and pj leaving.  When he left he never would have thought we would go back to the days of playing woeful football

Story of the night in our I50 stats - we had 8 more than them, but couldn't turn those into goals. Melksham and Tom Mac - who has been one of the best KPF's in the league - both down on form, Hunt still finding his feet up forward (if he ever will), Spargo same, Petracca still getting going after not much of a preseason. The list goes on.

This then creates issues elsewhere, especially that because we can't capitalise or keep the ball locked in, it provides a springboard for their attacks: 46 rebounds to our 32. Ironically enough, our attacks become the basis for theirs.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
