Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Changes: Rd 05 v St. Kilda

out- OMac, Stretch,

in- Lewis, Garlett,

Lewis coming back in can release Fritsch and Salem onto the wing, which pushes Stretch back out of the team. playing Preuss fwd and having Gawn drop back to help out might allow us to play a smaller more mobile defence without a tall replacement for OMac. Garlett in for goal crumbing around Preuss's feet. if Preuss is injured bring in Keilty.

You might have your wish PF with Jeffy having a decent game today apparantly and kicking 3.

Billy was more a direct replacement for ANB but they might be able to swing Jeffy in anyway and push Spargo up the field to cover Stretch's role (if ommitted).

Hannan would have been the obvious replacement for ANB if fit.

Jeffy might come in for Corey.

I would maintain Spargo in the side.  He contributed to us getting into the game and winning it.   His linkup work is very important to us... we have been ordinary in transition.

Interesting selections this week - Lockhart will also be available. Goodwin doesn’t like changing winning sides so I can’t see much happening. Oscars concussion may provide an opportunity for Petty to come in. I reckon Jetta will need more than a week to get over his knee. Lewis is underdone and probably should have a run at Casey - he will hate that. Like others I can’t se May being ready for a few weeks.

I think we will see many changes between the Saints and Tigers matches, Re the 4 day turnaround.

Who do you think of the tall backs matches up againts the Saints  'cf'  ?   Petty or OMc ?

Also which of Tigers and Saints, has the most dangerous small forwards, for us to counter ?

Have to concur with this assessment. These changes are absolute no brainers!

I'd be dropping Spargo before Stretch.  Plus Spargo plays forward while Stretch spent most of his time on a wing.  Garlett won't play on a wing.

Spargo or Stretch it is much of a muchness, but we need Lewis and Garlett in.

A semi random thought regarding May and Lever - it kind of depends on how our key backs settle and build form over the next few weeks and it might be a bit old school, but personally I'd be in favor of bringing back both lever and May through the twos.  Let their bodies build back into a fully match fit state for the rigors of compeditive senior footy and let them build some confidence with the ball as well.

Steven May hasn't looked in great nick reading and finding the ball for his entire injury interupted preseason and Lever took at least half a dozen games to find form with us at the start of last season and he has missed practically an entire season of compeditive footy since then.

I want these guys back in the side as much as anyone, but I want them in and firing, not struggling to get back into the game.

Lever will come back through the 2's probably for at least 2 games.

May had some very good moments at training and wasn't too bad against Brisbane, I think even not at 100% he should be thrown in but given a bit of time to build fitness and form in terms of performance. In the Geelong game they tried to use him as the 3rd tall intercept player and something like that would be ideal - sit him on a resting ruckman and let him run off.

I’d drop Hibberd, he needs a rest. OMAC can be removed.

There are 168 hours in a week* of which game time is about 2.5. You'd think that the remaining 165.5 hours would be sufficient time for any player to rest. But, clubs "rest" players all the time, so clearly the effects of a single game are significant. However, I can't see how any player should need a "rest" after only four games. If he's injured, don't play him; if he's just out of form, decide whether he needs more game time to recover touch or whether he needs to drop back to Casey for a while. For what it's worth, in my view he's playing OK. Not AA form that he's capable of, but not worthy of demoting, either.

*Note: 168 hours is a normal week. Six day breaks, etc, stuff up the maths.

I agree we need both Lewis and Garlett in, but Spargo and Stretch play different roles within the side, and therefore it makes sense to drop Spargo instead of Stretch.

The odds on Saints winning v Demons was $3.32 on Sportsbet. Too juicy to go past!!

Those odds are now $2.92. I suspect they'll shorten further.

Saints' pace and willingness to run/spread will be the biggest problem.

Let your $3.32 come in to $2.30 then lay it off... While they're a real danger, I reckon we can grind it out

I put $30 @ $3.32.

I can cash out now ... at $30.18 !!!

Big decision: shall I take my 18 cent profit ????

Yes i was also advocating he stays for the match against the Aints DV.  But then again i don't think the FD will bring in a specialist small forward for a backman on Corey.  So who does Jeffy replace assuming he gets a call up?

Those changes look beautiful on paper.

I wouldn't play Lewis with the 4 day break into the Tigers game,  hes no spring chicken anymore and coming off a hammy..

Surely with today's amount of sports science and technology he can be  very carefuly managed over the 4 days and probably just gets put through a super light skills/recovery program in their one and only training session?

Nasher, I reckon when Jeffy plays a game like yesterday , his confidence soars! I wouldn't risk an extended break given Casey has a Bye next week. I think we pull the trigger and give him a chance, sooner rather than later. Next week ideal and if it works I reckon we go a long way towards a win. In a team lacking seriously good finishers with goal sense and pace, against the AINTS he must play! How many games has Stretch, Spargo, et al taken and become match winners. ZERO. Jeffy can and has done this for us and so he plays.

This ☝? Jeffy is a class above and brings a wealth of experience.  Provided he fires on the day he can finish and might be the difference on the scoreboard in a tight match.  Personally i just don't see what Stretch brings and have rarely seen him perform in the last few seasons outside of maybe a decent game against the Dockers last year?

Spargo stays and is utilised to replace Jeffy when rested plus a minor role helping out off one wing in a secondary further relief role for a wingman resting.  Jeffy replaces Stretch.

Spargo doesn't have match fitness or a tank to justify a permanent place just yet (if he underperforms) but IMHO he is more damaging when he's on (even if it's short lived atm) and is slowly building/showing some promise vs what Stretch brings (for an entire match).

Pressure right on Saints this week. Got to produce against a bottom three side. Should be able to get the required amount of exposure, with half their retired team along with their Coach/Captain in prime time TV

Corey Wagner.  But Wagner will be a harder worker upfield (assist mids) than Jeffy.... so I'm wondering which matchups...   Which opposition has the hardest working midfield ? Aints or Tiges ?

And which teams defence will we find more space inside,   Because that's the team we should play Jeffy against

Lewis would be touch and go this week, even if we were stretched and needed him... but I'd feel more confident of him coming in against the Tiges, when some won't come up following the Saints game.

It's a MUST for us to go in fully fit against this weeks team...  and the Saints are holding a top 8 spot tonight.  We want the points turnaround on them.

So I think Lewis won't play the Saints...  but will be one to come in for the Tiges game.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
