Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Wow. I can’t wait for both of them to be out of the side. We won’t beat a top-10 side while they’re in ours.

We are not going to have our best 22 each week. If we at least get honest efforts from either and contribute like they did tonight then they are doing their job.

That's harsh, but true at the same time. They were terrific tonight though and showed how important they are for our depth.

I see their performances much differently to you. It’s like Frost has 2 little brothers.

I don’t expect superstars, but if either of them is in the side, we’re not traveling very well at all.

They are in the side right now because we have nothing else. They are depth yes.

Give credit where credit is due. They were good tonight.

They were just average. Just.  Not good enough in a team aspiring to be a top standard club.

Great young blokes but not showing me that they would be capable in the heat of a top of table physical and skilful encounter.

Josh’s lack of awareness in the last quarter was nearly costly.

I like the Wagner bros, but I didn't think they played to their potential tonight by any means.  Thought they gave great effort, went in hard, got to pleanty of contests and scrapped well, which is really their strong suit.  But I didn't think their ball use by foot was as clean as they are capable of.  Cory in particular just hacked it forward to no one in particular on alot of occasions, but that said the times he did it, it was actually mostly effective and came off to our advantage.

I'd really like these guys to improve their game just that little bit further to the point they could be at the level to justify holding down a regular spot in the team - guys like Nev and Hibbo are somewhat getting on in years and it would be good to have depth options to cover their absence when the time comes.

I've always liked Josh, thought he reads the play well, good in the air and can kick it nicely. Just is a bit slow for a back flanker and he went through big patches where he wouldn't stick tackles or attack the ball like he did in his first season. He's limited but it's nice to see him doing a job the last two weeks.

Actually not as sold on Corey. I think he does fumble and panic too much for even a depth player and he should be a better tackler given he's got decent pace. I was hoping for depth player with a little upside to build on. That said, worked some hard tonight and is still young and inexperienced, he might start to smooth the rough edges.

Along with Hore, Stretch and Frost the Wagners are mature depth players who did their role when supported by experienced players leading the way. Was nice to see.

Both solid tonight, but will be eclipsed in the near future. Or they aren't, hopefully it'll mean they've both improved immensely and deserve to be in our best, fit 22.

Would love a Rampe or Lloooyyyyyyd in our side.

I find these sorts of comments from armchair pundits really shortsighted and at worst condescending to the individual. All premiership teams have guys that play their role, that just do enough to be in the side at the right time.

Who would have thought these blokes would have premiership medals....

Nathan Vardy

Mitch Morton

Zaine Cordy

Matthew Spagher

Max Bailey

Mitch Morton

Trent West

Chris Dawes ?

and did I mention Mitch Morton?

I assume Josh’s “lack of awareness” was the hospital handpass he received and was flattened by Buddy the instant he laid a finger on the ball?

Hopefully you’re not not using one single isolated incident, that wasn’t really an incident, and applying it to a player as a whole of quarter issue, because I didn’t see any others.

Dazzle, do you think ANB should come back in to give us some extra run vs the Saints.  Get him in I say!

Yes

In all seriousness ANB would have smashed us last night with his constant fumbles galore. Especially after it got dewy and greasy after half time.

Most likely because he knew he was [censored] if his old man caught up with him after the final siren!

The  Wagner's are  playing there roll and picking  up good game time that will help us in the near future. They are doing the hard yards down at Casey and are consistent performers . They bring their talent to the AFL and as you can see they play hard run hard and still learning and getting acclimatized .  Josh has played 30 odd games now and Cory has been given a chance to show his talents.

However you can call them depth players but you also can see them forcing themselves as a permanent fixture in the side. Room for improvement a plenty. Just to say that they do bring back memories of the Febey's  Brothers.

This list is incomplete without former Melbourne great Steven Armstrong

I believe it's a Demonland rule that his name be raised in any discussion of undeserving premiership players.

You're a funny bloke.

You carry on about Hore, repeatedly denigrating him as though you think people need to be told something 20 times, because once won't do, and you now lord the Wagners, who are average depth players at best.

Josh played well last night, anyone who says otherwise either didn't watch the game or their views are completely clouded by previous performances. Clearly with Lever, May, Lewis and Jetta fit he won't be playing but I don't think anyone is suggesting that. My likely unpopular opinion is that he is performing better than Hibberd right now..

Corey had a solid game. He's unlikely to ever be a superstar but he's the exact type of player we want to play the ANB 2018 role. Is he can put the pressure on he will remain in the side. Unlike ANB, Corey doesn't butcher the footy. We could do alot worse than him right now.

Josh may never be a star but in his first few games in 2017, he showed grit, determination, guts and a willingness to take the game on that suggested he could develop into a good defender.

I prefer Josh over Corey but the two are tough hard players who relish the contest.

I prefer players like the Wagners and Spargo who have a real crack every week over others who go missing in action.

They may be depth but they are important depth.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
