Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

C'mon, Oscar got done by Henney in a marking  contest and scrubbed 1 kick but besides that had a good full backs game. He did his job really well and unless injured his spot in the team won't be in question for next week

Did he do his job really well? I can’t remember seeing him in the last quarter.

I honestly thought he might have been at least injured

Loved Hunts two games up forward. Doesn’t get a heap of it, but he’s so damaging with his pressure and hits the scoreboard. Ticks all the boxes needed for the small/medium forward type player. He and Petracca really stood up tonight.

Still zoned but were able to transition across a lot better to effectively become more like a man on man scenario. The first half they still just ran in waves with no accountability. They worked hard. Not a brilliant display, plenty of errors, but willed themselves over the line. hope it builds belief to go on from here.

Fine by me - raw footballers that play as a team I will always favour over talented individuals

The teammate to his right was Charlie Spargo. Probably didn’t see the point in putting his arm around fresh air.

Great to see Hunt back playing good footy. I think a lot forget how good he was a couple seasons back before getting ko’d.

Loves a chase, tackles hard and can take a decent grab. Great to see him playing well again.

Only got to see a bit of the third and the fourth quarter so only a small sample size, but our defensive press was markedly better. More chasing and harrassing in our forward half, a better and tighter zone through the middle, and when Sydney did get through our last line was in a better position to defend.

Then I looked at the stat sheet and saw that we won the CPs 153-133 and clearances 44-37.

So it looks to me like we got our "one wood" back again (midfield dominance) and the defensive side of the gameplan improved, and that took us back to something which more closely resembled Melbourne of 2018.

Let's hope we've learnt something from what we did to get the game on these terms.

Looking forward to seeing the replay, not just to see the win but also to see how we turned it around from the first half.

Loved seeing the Wagner brothers able to share it together. Without meaning to be disparaging, they’re both fringe players and you wouldn’t expect that they’ll get to play a huge amount together over time. Must be such a great feeling.

Thought they both play well for a second week in a row too.

I have been pretty happy with what i have seen from Corey so far. Very happy for him to be making up the numbers as I think he could improve enough to be a handy player for a number of years.

Marty Hore  9 Marks.

still butchered a few kicks especially in the first half, but showed an ability to read the ball and the courage to get across and mark under pressure. Surprised me, against Port I thought Tom Gillies was back in number 34!! Good gutsy effort, hope that becomes his norm!

Preuss is just the type of big nasty baaastad we've needed for years.

Nope. we don't need one of them.....................   we need a team like that.

Our team came out with aggression tonight and we carried it forward.

Did you see Reid at all? The majority of the last term was played on our terms so none of the backs were really seen, although I didn't notice him in the last 10 mins or so, but I just assumed he'd be back last line and it didn't go down there.

I missed a bit of the game, but what I did see we looked a lot better team with Preuss contesting stoppages in the forward 50.  We won stoppage clearances by a mile tonight, and looked like we could have scored from most of the ones I saw.  Contrast last 3 weeks where our forward 50 stoppages were more likely to result in goals at the other end.

Prior to about the two Jones goals in the second term, it all looked as leaky and off the mark as it had previously. We were also behind on contested possessions at half time.

The second half was unrecognisable from anything we’ve seen this year to date.

His confidence will grow.   And composure as well.

I highlighted that,  because we need the whole team to take more marks.   Especially Maxy thru the middle.

Great performance from the boys! It wasn't perfect, but you could just tell that the team felt it was coming back to life - and are starting to believe again.

Jones has been under the pump, but how good was he!? Petracca was a straight up bull. Maxxy owned everything in the centre, Preuss showed a lot of promise, loved his hunger and the physicality of his game. Hore was tops, as was Oliver. I really liked Hunt's run, Wagner's enthusiasm, and the ferocity shown by the team. It was also great to see Goody down there tonight.

You could see how much this game meant to the boys. I hope they take this belief and run with it.

Immensely proud of the boys. I have been a Jones knocker of late and I’d like to apologise. Yes, he made errors again tonight and looked slow at times, but he put us on his back at the same time and kicked captain’s goals.

Things clicked tonight in patches. We busted Our guts. Blokes put their body on the line. Hunt was magnificent. He has found a spot. Leave him there. Let him chase and attack and he will bob up and kick a couple a game.

Let us go on with it next week. Must build on it.

I see the CP count was +31 in our favour in the second half, righting the ship after being -11 in the first quarter and even in the second.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
