Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jack has made Jack sh!tt difference in a final.

How did Tom Lynch go in his 1st finals last year? Not that he is that good but he would most likely lessen the amount of average players in our best 22. I think $650 per annum is pretty good value. How much is Jake Melksham on?

Yeah I reckon adjusted for the rise of the salary cap in the last and next few years 625 pa is about equivalent to what we would've paid Melksham and Hibberd (both 2nd round trades). Or Jack Watts to Port (although we chipped it 50 or so).

Completely reasonable amount of cash.

Unfortunately what's unreasonable is the 2M in the first 2 years and that's Carlton's gain and the Suns loss.

Are you saying that we couldn't or shouldn't arrange our salary cap for Tom Lynch?

He is worth it And is s better player than you imagine

Tom is no 2 and Weide or Joel Smith No 3

mite sll sbout depth and what defenders are needed to mind players !

Quick question, if that salary takes him up to being worth a first round pick, then when he comes into free agency (2020 or 2021**?) - won't they effectively be getting pick 2 compo again with their wooden spoon? The salary cap hit makes sense then if so?

I hope their front loading of Martin’s contract screws them over from any chance of getting anyone else over the next couple of years.

Blue bagger wankers.

Why are we still talking about a bloke that has Zero relevance to Dees??

Melbourne has not ruled out taking Martin in the pre-season draft, although the Demons have said they would only want him if he was interested in playing for them. But Martin has not been willing to meet with them, clearly wishing to ensure he lands at the Blues, who were unable to reach a trade with Gold Coast during the exchange period.

When we rule him out we will stop discussing him.

Does the AFL have any rules to cover draft tampering? Obviously not it seems, GCS play hard ball for once but he gets to nominate a ridiculous front end loaded contract to put off potential suitors. Rules are too skewed toward the players at present.

Hope Pickett lines him up and knocks him into next year.

Soft and overrated. He's a master thief as well! $750,000?!!

Time to close this thread unless it's to add a clip of a Melbourne player lining him up ?

if we can perhaps ignore Carlton for a moment and concentrate on ourselves i  just wonder whether we did enough in this instance to take advantage of that serendipitous opportunity to gain a very good player .As we all know  Martin want one in the same draft that Jesse went two so obviously he was rated .it is difficult to assess his Suns form as he the type of player who would be at his best with talented players around him and those players were in short supply at the Suns .Martin made his preference for Carlton clear but he was just as clear the previous year for his preference for Essendon so I never saw him as welded to the Blues .I accept that his asking price for his first 2 years was high but that was a particularly unsophisticated ruse on Carltons part to fix the mess made by them in the Trade Period  Did we try enough to juggle the financial and personal issues that accompanied his potential drafting?.I of course have no way of knowing that but I my feeling just on reading published material was   that we let a great opportunity slip too easily

It’s a difficult one, when him becoming available in the PSD became clear the club made attempts to contact him and he seemed to flatly turn our approaches down. We didn’t chase him when he put himself up for trade both times so clearly he wasn’t really on the club’s radar. I found the fact he didn’t even entertain us as a bit of a slap in the face particularly as Carlton were the ones who failed at the trade table.

As for whether we could’ve creatively fit him into the club’s finances, what he’s being paid is over his worth, and getting players in on overs coin (particularly if they don’t even want to be there) sets a dangerous precedent for the next round of contract negotiations.

We may well be eying off a FA next year and don’t want to blow our cap.

I think Martin and Carlton are a match made in heaven.

*Bump.

Watched this fella and to be frank - he’s average.

The discussion at the time on Demonland (when announced Carlton) was how he could be that outside runner, good in front of goal player we need, etc blah blah d dah blah and we should shaft them in the PS draft.

I know it’s a bit revisionist but given this example, I think our list management right now is as best as it’s been for a long, long while.

I’m glad they don’t jump at shadows like a lot us of do.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
