Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Improvements in areas that needed improvement - back to scoring decent amounts again, 18 goals.

But ... back line. Just not happening at the moment. Petty for Frost?

Only getting one game out of the first five for Steven May isn't ideal either.

Frost has had to join the throng backing and supporting the errors of OMac, his tendency to run away from and often, behind his opponent. That, to my eye, totals: Jetta, Hibberd and now Frost playing two opponents in one-on-ones, and up to six opponents in the congestion of an active backline. Frost was terrible, as a result. Frosty is a HB Flanker, has been asked to play CHB and usually does reasonably well (not against Essendrug). The noose around the MFC tied and held by TMac that he ain't going to play unless OMac is also in the side should be tested and ended. TMac is a fullback but is waning as forward, in general. Both could go elsewhere to another club without any loss.

Whatever the case of brotherly interest over team interest, OMac has to go. He is a chicken and a shirker in our footy club; I have never seen him do otherwise, week in, week out across the last few years. OMac is the hole in the dam wall; his leakage is catastrophic for the team and for the rest of the backline. He actually runs away from the contest and never provides in-close support to playmakers. Petty, Keilty, the return of Lever, the just backline roles of Nev and Hibberd combined with May and Salem are the future, starting with such a line-up next week using Frosty as the CHB until the tastier items return from injury.

Brayshaw suggesting that some players are not buying in is a direct swipe at which individuals? Sounds like we need to only play those players who are buying in, even if they are youth.

What if what they're asked to buy is plainly rubbish ?

So you've arrived at Jonestown....and after a while you realise things are no quite as the were purported ?

Someone starts handing out the Koolaid ..

I know..an overly dramatic allegory. My point is...maybe some players have more intuitive footy sense than the coaches ?

I admire the care that most of you all show, I admire more the hope that some of you still have.

However, the harsh reality all Melbourne supporters need to face into is that this season will be a failure. Even if we manage to beat a few top 8 sides and show some signs, the season is now over and the next 19 games are irrelevant.

Absolute downside to overperforming in one season.

Yeah but as Brayshaw said after the game. There not to much concern internally. He got to be taking the xxss

I never bought into the pre season hype but  also never dreamed we’d be this diabolical either! Average to poor side who somehow played massively above themselves last year, that’s how it looks at the moment.

Melksham non-free kick near end of first half the turning point in this game. Absolutely disgusted and utterly confused by the inconsistent application of rules around prohibitive contact in marking contests, and holding the ball / incorrect disposal. It’s almost making the game unwatchable for me - and, of course, being 0-3 and getting home with my kids after midnight because of this city’s crap public transport system doesn’t help matters.

We can blame the umpires but they were pretty terrible all night for both teams.

The turning point for me was Hunt and in particular Harmes missing sitters in the 3rd quarter. Harmes misses and they take it down and kick a goal instead of 2 goals the margin is 4 goals.

That Brayshaw interview was weird, there was a massive sense of complacency and it worried me too.

He was so relaxed, it was strange and concerning.

Of course the players carry the message from the coach post game, so I’ve no doubt he was set into that mode by Goody.

Perhaps he’s a genius coach, keeping them believers even at 0-3.

The failures are bizarre, players like Frost and ANB aren’t as bad as that.

It all looks so inexperienced. Even the experience (like Jones) seemed to run to positions to escape responsibility, he guarded grass more than anybody.

Goody traded Watts and Hogan, he doesn’t play an experienced forward like Garlett. He believes full team buy-in to his game plan will win over individually gifted players. I’m going to say Goody is a genius coach as he’s doing everything different to what I would’ve thought.

He still has Brayshaw believing, so maybe that’s a good thing?

Unless you have some sort of irrefutable evidence, I’d suggest that this belongs in the Demonland Fact Check thread.

Regarding the umpires you need to look no further than the last quarter where Tipungwuti tries to break 2 tackles within a minute  by ducking his head, yet doesn't get penalised for either.

Who are these players with “intuitive footy sense” on the MFC list??

The failures are with the players who lack any sense at all, it seems.

No.not at all. What I'm saying is the current plan is shizen. Maybe some have twigged. Hell..17 other teams have.

There really isn’t an excuse to be this poor.

The list on paper has incredible young talent that should see significant improvement year on year. Chemistry solidifying. Confidence building.

There are similarities to last season where we were scored on too easily, this year there’s a lack of scoring power in the fwd half now too.

I’m a believer that this can turn around. But I confess to having absolutely no idea why the team as a whole is performing so badly. I can’t pin this on specific players.

If you overpay for something that doesn’t work, it’s hard to consider it a wise decision, particularly when what you purchase has an injury predisposition cloud.

The opportunity cost on this transaction is looking pretty aweful right now.

Hawks have rolled the dice with Scully & Omera...only difference they gave late picks.....Whats concerning is Lever is bad luck buy May coming into a new club & presenting himself in poor shape says a lot about him, not sure how recruiters can miss that

I don't actually blame the players for this disaster it's very much a combination of things.

For a start thank you Gil you [censored] for continually changing how the game is played. It is now a soft outside game.

In saying that we as a club are terrible at it. And our structures and execution are all terrible.

I have no doubt in saying we are now the worst club in the league because our ability to execute in open play is non existent.

After you all get over the fact the we are terrible at this new game style the real question is - is it time to rebuild??

There are some very senior players at the moment who are underperforming either due to possible injury or bad form. They are all slow and struggle to impact the game in this new format.

Tough time for Goody and co. Leaking 20 goals to a basket case side is not good

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
