Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I mean just take one fact - without Lewis we are 0-7, that’s JUST without Lewis. Let alone the rest and fact we’ve had ZERO continuity! And it’s 0-7 with bag loss of over 20 pts im pretty sure.. about 25-12 with him..that’s just One Key System player missing.

Vandenburg, Lever, Hannan are others and May will end up one also eventually too it’s a MAJOR issue and it’s poor luck, but that’s life! But for GOD sake..

If I hear another douche_puff wag on about recruiting or Sparrow or Marty Hore or Bedford etc I’ll bloody spontaneously combust!!! LEAVE THE RECRUTING to the men that have assembled champion data’s best list - OK! (And yes, list is ONE comp to winning but you can have best list ever assembled, EVER - With a lack of system, def run, continuity and communication leaders - they’ll get SMASHED most weeks irrespective of whom they play or whether they are 2nd best all time list or in bottom few all time, they’ll STILL get smashed by both at times!

Not sure what you're referring to, no doubt it was a hectic environment, and I appreciate that you took the time to post. My comment was re what BM was saying.

Conflicting numbers with the tackles above. Earlier posts had Bedford 9 tackles and Maynard 17.

I was out running near Gosch's Paddock this morning and Braydon Preuss was doing specialised ruck work with the ruck coach and an older ruckman who I couldn't identify as his foil. The older guy was not quite as tall and had grey hair. They were doing centre bounces and boundary throw-ins with a fourth guy taking hit outs and feeding it back to Preuss in a sort of follow-up strategy.

It was obvious they were probably going to keep him back for Thursday.

Bedford isn’t slow that’s just idiotic - 14 touches is PLENTY for a small fwd since when do disp mean a damn thing? Finding footy isn’t our issue locking ball in, fwd entry kicks & outside pace are! Maynard will also help release Clarry and gus more on outside so they’re not inside all day long, never ceases to amaze me how many dills there are in footy supporters I mean seriously some of you are just like those members who still cry out “kick ittt” when there’s a vacant bloody 50..

Grrrr! Our issue is not complicated - where not running hard enough defensively, our key backs are Inj (draft Collins I hear someone say, yeah that’s the bloody solution, pls - turns it over a heap and socks pace another omac with better marking but gets shown up 1/1 - diff is his mids are running BACK!!!) but they’ll be back and then prob neither of frost and OMac ever play once May/Lever play and have continuity of form that’s it both will go, Lever will play intercept role Max will push fwd more & Smith will play back 1 every 3/4 was whenever match ups suit by then Our mids will actually be as fit as other sides are atm which makes a MASSIVE diff re consistency and setup it’s x15 these days re when your underdone plus the game is so much bout setups these days if your system is off your almost never going to win, we thought we could play catch up and punch 2 wins (Port/Ess) but we haven’t and it’s [censored] but it’s also life - Pies & Tigers are 1 win ahead of us, if we get our system working and some key role players back that can actually mean we at least half ground balls in either 50 arc then the diff will show.

WC loss was symptomatic of where we are - inconsistent, and it carried over to this year cus we have key ground ball personnel and MORE importantly key SYSTEM leaders out ie Lewis, Lever, Hannan, Vanders - players that are HUGE in talking and communicating re system which is multiplied AGAIN this year with no runners out there.

ZERO to do with recruitment lmfao - our recruitment team have done a fantastic job, but right now other factors mean we’re relying on players that arent capeable of optimising our system which iS killing us.

Thats what BM was saying to Chaplin today - all our best def runners and communicaters are out or down on form and are mids are forced to constantly win win win every contest instead of being able to run more defensively cus they’re not confident in rotating back and not halving contests or staying outside cus they’re trying to be there for every single contest & are hack kicking cus there has been no continuity & many still not game ready they’re still weeks away form other teams re setup and being able to gel as a single unit setup wise - look at GC today, 100% that win was about setup & def run to halve contests to allow the time to stay in the game and prevent run ons..

HOW can we win games when we aren’t in sync systematically and we can’t buy any sort of breathing room at all - cus we get scored against every damn entry.. and can’t get ground balls i50 Either end! Insanity - midfield is great but not miracle workers it’s all about being able to absorb pressure and then capitalising when you Your chance - we can’t do either atm!!!

What a great post. Nice change from blaming everyone from the toilet cleaner to the president as to why we're losing.

The ruck coach is Gregg Stafford who has grey hair and would be a bit shorter than Pruess. But Greg is the ruck coach so who was the other guy?

The ruck coach I referred to was the old Casey coach Justin Plapp (who is the midfield coach - sorry). The fourth person was a trainer for MFC who I have seen often down at the Paddock when I have been around (about as short as Plapp, heavy set, unshaven).

Plapp was throwing the balls up or in. The other guy was receiving the hit outs and handballing back to Preuss and the grey hair guy was competing against Preuss.

Grrr. I prefer it when the Casey games aren’t televised, so we can get the great reports from the handful of die-hards that go. The manic hyperbolic rambling of the match-day thread types drowns out all the actual proper information.

I know you can't do it as a mod, but it almost gets to the point where you need to use the ignore function on a large amount of posters so it's easier to wade through the rubbish on game day.  It would make for easier reading if you had the time and patience to do it.

I ignore the match day threads for the MFC games. I might post the odd thing in the half time break to pass the time and soothe my anxiety that makes the break feel like it goes for 6 hours, but other than that I can’t bear the over the top moaning and player bagging that fills the threads. When we’re playing poorly I generate more than enough anger and frustration of my own without needing to feed off others. Plus I prefer to actually focus on the game, not my phone.

But yeah, was hoping for a neat summary of the Casey game from someone not over the top. If you know what page it’s on that’d be great, I read page 7-10 and didn’t find one.

I don't think having Lewis in this team will help 'Nudge', he was a main offender in the Prelim loss and we have to realise the game has passed him by.

If we haven't developed players to take his role in the last 2 years, we've got trouble.

There are senior players in the defensive half who need to stand up.

With due respect the 2019 model Lewis just gives the opposition another avenue to play through.

A wonderful thread by quality posters.

Every third post was about Keilty and how poor he was playing.   Even though he's been incredible for weeks.  I think I hate the guy and he's probably a good bloke.  Seeing a bloke's name 35 times will do that.

Every fourth post I learnt that Hore is horrible.

Apparently Petty wasn't playing well before being injured and was Oscar reincarnate.

I believe Bedford was ''unsighted''.  Notwithstanding his 14 disposals and 9 tackles.

I learnt a bit about the game plan being the same as the seniors.

Tim Smith can kick as well as Chaplin can coach.

Stretch played well.

Chandler was good, but he's supposedly not quick enough.

And a rebuild is on the cards.  I'm sure I've missed a few things.

Why people need to post the same observations over and over and over is extraordinary.

Since I can’t get much sense out of anyone else, how’d Garlett go? Did he do enough to come in.

I'd like to formally announce my candidacy for a Mod position on demonland.

Imagine how good this place would be with the bans I'd impose on certain posters.

Srsly.

For examples, a poster disagrees with a view I have on Oscar McDonald/(or any topic) and BAM!..... Immediate life ban for said poster.

I only watched the first Q and most of the 2nd...

His ball touch was a bit off as to be expected but he got involved and his pace is a problem for the oppo...

I think as soon as he hits some match fitness we need to bring him in, at least he has some leg speed, a bit of X factor and is a goal kicker. All things we lack.

How can you say that when you haven't seen the 2019 model Lewis?

We had about 3 good players during the prelim, not sure why Lewis has to become "a main offender" when pretty much everyone offended that day.

He can't do too much worse than some of the current 22 and his on-field leadership is sorely lacking.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
