Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Nibbler is Goodwin's love child I don't think he will be replaced. Stretch maybe but I doubt it.

Even if Maynard is next in line, which in my opinion he shouldn’t be, I can’t see him coming in regardless of today. Is there enough rest time for him to back up after a full game 4 days later against Sydney?

Its a repeat of what we see at Senior level.

- Too many players going for a contest, balls spills free, swept away by Hawks and delivered beautifully by foot

- Hawks can take a mark, we are devoid of players that can mark

- uncontested possessions we are being creamed

- players doing basic things wrong, like being on the wrong side of a contest, covering space not a man, short handballs to a manunder pressure.

It's pretty demoralising watching this knowing that there is no-one other than maybe Stretch who will come into the senior side.

Our coaching staff at Demon HQ and Casey seem to be on the same page, it's just the wrong page.

Absolutely nailed the key issues.

Lack of footskills mean we rarely hit a lead.

Lack of aerial ability means we rarely take contested marks.. so bombing it doesn't work either.

That's why I was bloody annoyed when we lost Howe. At least he was better than 50/50 with the ball in the air.

When I look at the surplus of key marking/intercept players the Eagles (and many other teams have) it makes me weep for our future.

A nightmare

BEDFORD - Unsighted

STRETCH - Silky BOG for the dees but has he done enough to get ahead of love child ANB. He was better last week.

MAYNARD - OK game but can do better.

JORDON - Overrawed

SPARROW - Little to be enthused about.

BAKER - 1 tackle that was about it.

HORE - Worst player in the league.

PETTY - Woeful game then injured.

GARLETT - Typical Garlett game nowhere to be seen for the majority of the game.

CHANDLER - Done everything right looks a beauty hold your head high son.

T.SMITH - Tried hard but can't kick.

KEILTY - Unsighted woeful game.

I’m sure most of these guys will be devastated to miss out on your random team of the minute.

Agreed.

It's the same sort of thought process as the "I wish they wouldn't talk at press conferences" one we get whenever we're struggling.

We're not playing in the 80's and 90's now 'DV8', a defender who can't kick is a total liability these days.

...by the way Ayres is a legend, they don't just grow on trees.

Lovett is a Dee legend, they grow on the odd tree.

No matter how much you visualise Smith is never going to be in the ball park of these 2....

I'm not calling him Gary Ayers, you realise  'rj'.   And I'm talking about trying it with Casey.

It is worth a try,  rjay... he only needs to kick to advantage, every time

You need pinpoint kicks with zones... not as much with open spaces.  Smaller grounds will make it a tougher ask.

If the game opens up into one on ones, again,  it can work.

Bedford named in the best..

But according to old mate werridee he was barely sighted.

Think he needs a new job cutting oranges instead of randomly making team changes.

Shows how terrible we were. There was only 3 that could hold there heads high and that's Stretch, Chandler and Maynard the rest of the best were terrible. Stick to copying the other clown in wiseblood.

Bedford did a lot of unrewarded running and tackle and pressured amongst stoppages and also up forward. Just because he didnt kick goals doesn't mean he was varely sighted.

God Dazzle you have finally realised some on here think that , unless a player kicks goals, looks outstanding and has Bruce Mc salivating in their close proximity, they are unsighted

A wonderful thread by quality posters.

Every third post was about Keilty and how poor he was playing.   Even though he's been incredible for weeks.  I think I hate the guy and he's probably a good bloke.  Seeing a bloke's name 35 times will do that.

Every fourth post I learnt that Hore is horrible.

Apparently Petty wasn't playing well before being injured and was Oscar reincarnate.

I believe Bedford was ''unsighted''.  Notwithstanding his 14 disposals and 9 tackles.

I learnt a bit about the game plan being the same as the seniors.

Tim Smith can kick as well as Chaplin can coach.

Stretch played well.

Chandler was good, but he's supposedly not quick enough.

And a rebuild is on the cards.  I'm sure I've missed a few things.

Why people need to post the same observations over and over and over is extraordinary.

Disagree - was good by foot today as was stretch, both have lowered heads on fwd 50 entry and that’s the kick we need to hit. They’re not gonna be transistioN kickers that bust is open but they do lower eyes and look lateral unlike almost all our current senior players! I’d have Maynard over Nate any day of week, gets better each time I see him & I’d have stretch over a few also - can be caught out if trying to hit stagnant targets but inside 50 Disposal is good and runs well on outside which is what we need. That’s what’s missing - Hannan, Smith, Vandenburg, Maynard, Stretch all should feature and would have helped plenty if in last week - Hannan Mostly Vanders toughness and def run stretch is another who runs well defensively!

Stretch deserves to come in

Maynard a chance, but I still think he’s too inside, and although he had a shitload of tackles, he won’t necessarily help defending the spread from contest that we are struggling with. Not quite the balance we need atm.

I was praying Petty would put his hand up today. Either he or Kielty, but seems like he isn’t being considered as a key defender anymore for whatever reason.

Bedford isn’t slow that’s just idiotic - 14 touches is PLENTY for a small fwd since when do disp mean a damn thing? Finding footy isn’t our issue locking ball in, fwd entry kicks & outside pace are! Maynard will also help release Clarry and gus more on outside so they’re not inside all day long, never ceases to amaze me how many dills there are in footy supporters I mean seriously some of you are just like those members who still cry out “kick ittt” when there’s a vacant bloody 50..

Grrrr! Our issue is not complicated - where not running hard enough defensively, our key backs are Inj (draft Collins I hear someone say, yeah that’s the bloody solution, pls - turns it over a heap and socks pace another omac with better marking but gets shown up 1/1 - diff is his mids are running BACK!!!) but they’ll be back and then prob neither of frost and OMac ever play once May/Lever play and have continuity of form that’s it both will go, Lever will play intercept role Max will push fwd more & Smith will play back 1 every 3/4 was whenever match ups suit by then Our mids will actually be as fit as other sides are atm which makes a MASSIVE diff re consistency and setup it’s x15 these days re when your underdone plus the game is so much bout setups these days if your system is off your almost never going to win, we thought we could play catch up and punch 2 wins (Port/Ess) but we haven’t and it’s [censored] but it’s also life - Pies & Tigers are 1 win ahead of us, if we get our system working and some key role players back that can actually mean we at least half ground balls in either 50 arc then the diff will show.

WC loss was symptomatic of where we are - inconsistent, and it carried over to this year cus we have key ground ball personnel and MORE importantly key SYSTEM leaders out ie Lewis, Lever, Hannan, Vanders - players that are HUGE in talking and communicating re system which is multiplied AGAIN this year with no runners out there.

ZERO to do with recruitment lmfao - our recruitment team have done a fantastic job, but right now other factors mean we’re relying on players that arent capeable of optimising our system which iS killing us.

Thats what BM was saying to Chaplin today - all our best def runners and communicaters are out or down on form and are mids are forced to constantly win win win every contest instead of being able to run more defensively cus they’re not confident in rotating back and not halving contests or staying outside cus they’re trying to be there for every single contest & are hack kicking cus there has been no continuity & many still not game ready they’re still weeks away form other teams re setup and being able to gel as a single unit setup wise - look at GC today, 100% that win was about setup & def run to halve contests to allow the time to stay in the game and prevent run ons..

HOW can we win games when we aren’t in sync systematically and we can’t buy any sort of breathing room at all - cus we get scored against every damn entry.. and can’t get ground balls i50 Either end! Insanity - midfield is great but not miracle workers it’s all about being able to absorb pressure and then capitalising when you Your chance - we can’t do either atm!!!

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer.
