Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Just an amazing story first off for Jay & getting a game 16 days after being added to an AFL list - We all wish him well..

just had a chat to a member of the “inner circle” whom tells me it was revealed yesterday that he was brought in to play a lock down FWD role inside 50 to replace Spargo, perhaps meaning Hunt stays back or at times they perform a double pressure role but either way I think it’s exciting to know that may be the role he’s been brought in to play!!!

Can’t wait for the bounce back effort this week - should be a cracking WIN ?

I was about to post the same.

Geelong (and most of the competition) are rubbish.

The last few years the competition has been the poorest in living (my) memory.  Geelong may well win tonight, but it won't change the fact they're just another ordinary team.

Agree, the talent is stretched pretty thin with 18 clubs, can't believe the AFL are talking about expanding the competition further! So many state league quality players getting a game these days that wouldn't have 10-15 years ago.

Any chance of a late change given the condtions?

I don't see the need to play all 3 of May, Frost and OMac against a forward line that at most will have Hawkins and Ratagoluea. In fact, I don't see the need to play all 3 regardless of conditions and opposition. I'd personally leave OMac out, but it's a flip of the coin between him and Frost.

OMac copped a bad corky early last week and couldnt walk post game. Expect improvement this week.

Thought Geelong looked really quick last week against the Pies and I can’t see us getting anywhere near them tonight.

Would love to be surprised and this team often does surprise us, whether that be good or bad, but just can’t see it tonight after the way we played last week.

Hoping for big improvements from our most important players. Go Dees.

Well done to the melbourne fans travelling down to geelong. It's going to be cold, wet and miserable. But it will be fantastic if we could get the win.

I expect to see a massive response tonight especially from our experienced players who were terrible last week.

The weather might be pretty poor as well.

I always think we're a chance, no matter the circumstances, but I feel that even tonight might be a little bit beyond us.  That's simply to do with our preparation and overall fitness levels.  I think the Cats are more advanced than us and, on their home deck, will be a tough proposition.

May and KK are handy additions to the side, but I'm not expecting a huge output from either of them just yet.  It will take time for them to gel with the side and, even though they will improve us by simply being in the side, it will be a few games before we see that influence.

All I want is a better effort, for longer, than last weekend.  Going 0-2 isn't the end of the world.

Sounds delightful BBO but i'm having my own pre-game experience far away, sitting on my balcony with a cheese  and salami platter and some appropriate liquid refreshments, listening to a live concert a couple of hundred meters away, featuring some oldies but goodies, including John Farnham, Darrel Braithwaite, Jon Stevens, Dragon and Thirsty Merc. And a lovely sunny day here.

The garden show- FMD - that's an afternoon of my life I won't get back.

Anyway I've just opened a Heathcote Shiraz to calm me down.

As to the footy.

Well the ducks will have to line up just right or the [censored] will [censored] on us from a great height.

We were clearly underdone last week and we've brought in May and KK who you would reckon could also be a gallop short. However, we will need May to play a good one and shut down .. probably Hawkins. If Frost lifts from his shocker last week, his athletic and running ability may do the job on Ratta - he will need to. If Ablett plays forward that will be up to Nev, who at least made an effort last week. All that going well, some drive from Hibbert would be handy.

Of course the best way to nullify the opps forward line is to keep the pill at our end. I reckon Max will find the opposition more to his liking and will lift. Clarrie and Brayshaw will need to get 30+ possies. Viney's fitness worries me but he's one of those blocks who can turn it on in unlikely circumstances. Jones is experienced and proud - he will lift.

Tmac and Weid must kick goals …. and Trac …. please play a blinder.

Pray for the ducks!

That doesnt surprise me.  Thought it was odd we would bring in Lockhart and KK when Hibberd and Hunt were in the side.

If Lockhart does play that role it is his to lose,  we need a small forward badly.  Would be nice if he could snag a few goals tonight.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
