Did the West Coast game expose us?  I read Goodwin saw it as our off-day and never reviewed it.  Scratched my head about this all summer.  Fox Footy reckoned Lycett would have been hauled into Match Committe to discuss last years’s PF.

One one hand I am happy to walk against the herd when it comes to most MFC supporters.

On the flip side, I sought a sun-tan next to the cheer squad yesterday, and I admit it was pretty difficult to see what was going on at the city end; while I was squinting, and considering either dying of thirst or digging deep to pay $10 for a cider.  I will watch the game again and get back to you.

I don't remember what year or years it was but Jack was  played down back with us with some success - particularly the first couple of games he played there. I don't believe Roos or Goodwin have anything to answer for with regards Jack.

The only others I can see realistically, to help with spread and some speed,  are Jordan and Lockhart.

They're just not fit enough to turn this around in a week. Too many stars and still recovering match fitness after surgeries. Or if not recovering then just plain injured eg Viney. Please do NOT pick him in that state again!   Too many of the second rung played as if they also had had surgery in the offseason. Weideman played like he did a year ago . Frost and Omac played like they already know they're to be replaced by May and Lever and seemed disspirited.   We're in trouble. I dont think this is turning around in a week or two.

Kenty was predominantly unfit injured and low possession player who looked spectacular in about 3 occasions during a match.

Yesterday fir Saints a speccy   goal but no other contributions of any substance.

Tackled well once or twice occasionally and got caught on left foot because he can't kick right.

Think he left at right time andgood luck to him at Saints for more money.

This is a disgraceful post. Watts was on our list 3-4 years too long and the only reason he lasted so long was because we had so many new coaches that wanted to see him before delisting him from the list.

So watts plays 1 good game of footy and that excuses his previous 150? 

Watts was trialled everywhere for us (back middle and forward) and the only thing that remained constant was his lack of intensity and strength in the contest.  

He played a solid game of footy and that's great. AA? please! He is playing for his spot on the list at Port each week.

Say what you want, but who could argue that Watts couldn’t have fulfilled Lewis’s role as a back with an easy role.

I have said it repeatedly over the past 2 years.

As for a disgraceful post I will are you and raise you a lot of the rubbish that demo land simpletons have directed to him.

Watts played a woeful first quarter and was good in the next three. He was good because we had inadequate forward and midfield pressure. If anything is a barometer as to how we played it is that Jack Watts was able to execute his sublime skills precisely because there wasn't enough pressure placed on him.

What was ‘inadequate’ about the 3 on 1 that he won?  I couldn’t think of more pressure than a 1-on-3?  Hence, your summation is glib.

While an admirable theory, surely it would be best to use the whole 42 squad with some playing kamikaze footy for critical times to allow the finalists to be cherry ripe as the season progresses. Prepare for the finals over the season and work backwards to allow the appropriate rest and recuperation at appropriate times. Surely this is why we have Pruess to support Max. Play them both if needed but one or the other to provide appropriate r&or. It's called tapering and peaking.

using the squad is essential. Don't be worried if Casey finishes last if the players in the side are playing in accordance with their required role in the ones. Develop them to replace someone in the ones but expect to be used only if they are better than that player. Keeps the primary player on their toes as well.

Yes, and body builder unable to sprint.

I went to Shepparton and was shocked at CPs condition. He was as overweight as I have seen and looked like a park footballer that had wandered onto the ground by mistake. Unfortunately, this makes him look a lazy footballer as he cannot chase or break away from his opponent. 

Sadly, I think he is only ever going to be a "burst player" but unfortunately even his ability to play in bursts is hampered by his poor physical condition.
