Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

On the Melbourne website Goodwin indicated that Preuss will play after Gawn's shocker.

He didn't, really:

Brilliant ruckman Max Gawn played one of his poorest games in recent memory, being worked over by Port's duo of Paddy Ryder and Scott Lycett, while also copping plenty of physical attention.

Goodwin indicated he would look at bringing recruit Braydon Preuss into the side.

"It's something that we're used to. ‘Gawny’ gets targeted most weeks. Max will continue to get better," Goodwin said.

"He probably didn't play his best game today. We'll look to how we potentially support him better. We'll continually look at that as a match committee.

"Ultimately though, it's not something new. It's happened for a long time now. We'll just get better at it."

If Big Juicy Preussy is going to play then maybe we chuck Weideman to CHB and get some education in to him.

He can take a grab, is a keen tackler, has good hands and a nice boot.

I can't see the Tommy Mc/Weid/Preuss forward line being anything but a disaster.

Especially as many believe we're a little slow as a side in general, although I think it's more down to work rate than anything else.  Preuss would ease the burden on Max, but would he exacerbate it elsewhere?

Oscar had 1 intercept possession today. You could literally stand still at CHB and at least manage 3. Plus he wasn't running freely by the end of the game. Whatever was wrong with his hip that needed surgery I'm not convinced it's suddenly right. He played on Schoenmakers and Jack Henry in the finals last year and as soon as he took on a half decent opponent he was crap. I'm struggling to remember a tall defender who has no strength, no speed and no ability to take a mark. Nor does he counter attack and run the ball out.

Frost did a good job on Hawkins in the elimination final but he was awful today. The thing about Frost is he just has no football intelligence at all. None.Plus a poor tank. As the season goes on and he builds his match fitness and gets in the rhythm of playing games he can be more useful but every time the season starts again he's all at sea.

These guys are both dreadful and we worry about which is worse instead of moving them both on and bringing in someone with upside.

Well put. Unfortunately Oscar is a very own Zac Dawson. He will continue to be gifted games for as long as rhe selection committee finally wake up and realise what a crap defender he is.

One of Max’s trademarks last year was playing a loose man in defence sort of role to great effect after the centre bounce. I didn’t really notice this watching the game live, but if Preuss comes in, then surely that will help Max clunk a few.

We appear slow because we throw numbers at the contest and therefore guys on the outside over lap and run away from us.

Up forward it's because our crumbers don't get to the right spots, down back it's because every goes up for the mark and in the middle it's because everyone piles in for the ball.

Port were also just fitter and healthier than us right now.

That said - we need another outside runner through the midfield, we need either Hunt to be fixed and keep improving or at least KK from half back and we need a quick zippy forward.

Backs will look quicker if May gives them an anchor to spread around. Mids will look quicker with more fitness and an outside runner. Forwards will look quicker if the delivery is better and we can get out the back.

Does anyone any one know if Vanders will be able to play next week?

Doubtful he has the same injury as he had before it's a couple of weeks minimum.

He does what they ask by positioning in the right spots at set plays and usually not turning the ball over but golly that's all he does.

He's shown signs of something more at times in 2016/2017 in games he took a few grabs or got plenty of the ball but it's hard to imagine a footballer with less interest in getting involved in the game than Oscar since about mid year last year.

why...Geelong only play one ruck and the predicted max is 16 with strong winds.

Preuss would be a liability

Rubbish. You can't predict the weather that early. We traded for him to play they will burn out Max if they are not careful. 5 players that are more of a liability than Preuss and they are Weideman that's who he should replace Weid has done 1 good thing a match so far this season not good enough and he's about as mobile as him to no great compliment. The others are Oscar, Frost, Hore and Spargo who is living off last years form he's been terrible so far this season which include the practice matches. We must make 5 changes next week.

Drop the Weid he needs to find form in the VFL. Time to play Petty he looked good in his limited time in the JLT.

Tried to impact the game with numerous tackles but ball carrier still easily able to offload.

Cant fault his endeavour.

Didn’t stick a single tackle all game. As you said, can’t fault his endeavour, but we have to do better than that.

I like Petty and he'd be my first choice but one of Weid or Keilty might have to be on stand bye as a defender as well.

Frost really turned his year around last year after a horrible start. Oscar can also go back to the VFL and dominate games and learn to be more physical, more involved and more proactive.

Right now I wouldn't bring Preuss in. But I'd have all the talls on notice that things can change quickly.

It's unacceptable to be dominated in the air by this Port team. Really it's a joke.

May and Petty to come in for OMc and Frost.

I'd like Keilty to come in, to chopout Maxy, and can play fore and aft...  or from the pine.   Not sure who would be the out for Keilty ?

TMc could push up around the wing, if necessary.

I don't want Weide out of the side.

It's not as severe but it's still the same injury.

May & Lever cant come in quick enough! Will change the whole dynamic / structure of our play.

Backline was an absolute mess today. Salem the only winner down back... could argue our only winner for the day. He was fantastic.

Will change the dynamic a bit but Lever about 10 weeks away so not  by that much.

May, Petty, Baker if he goes ok and Stretch for me.

Out Oscar/Frost probably the latter, take your pick, Hore, Spargo, Viney.’

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
