Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

21 possessions (10 contested), 432 metres gained (#1), 8 inside 50s, 5 score involvements, 2 goals.

His stats don’t tell the full story either. He is a smart player under pressure and he doesn’t fumble. Two things we are crying out for.

We’ve found one here.

Agree and he is rock hard. Looking forward to seeing him play after a full pre season and with most of our better players available around him.

We have also found a hbf in Hore, hopefully a winger in Baker and a key back or forward in Petty and definitely a top key back in May.

Agreed. Eventually.

For now I’m quite happy having him forward.

I hope not.  Need all the goal scoring options we can muster.

No doubt he'll play some time through there at some point on occasions.

Tracc is starting to fire in there and will (is) slowly taking over chunk's role anyway.

Locky is a tad small to play there permanently IMO and his speed/finish more damaging up near the big sticks.  Let him settle into this role and cut his teeth on it.  Gives the opp one more headache to worry about and will hopefully feed off the spilled marks of Weid & Tommy (and hopefully a genuine KPF recruit) in the next few years.

He’s not too small. You can see he has great core strength, same as Viney.

No set timeframe on when he plays in the middle as I agree he provides attributes we lack in the forward half. But at some point in the future he absolutely could play in the midfield.

We have plenty of goals scoring options, just look at last season.

Its the game plan thats the problem, or has been.

But according to some on here he is a dud recruiter...

Tom Couch is coach of North Launceston where he played in Tassie, spotted his potential and put him in touch with Casey so he could get a look in

I have no doubt he'll end up with some time in the middle P-Man.  I just believe he is a better forward (instinctive around goals and at goals).  We are already witnessing and reaping the benefits.  Happy to agree to disagree re mostly forward vs mostly mid as to ideal role.

Last season is done.  You are only as good as your last season. ie., this one, and so far we've been shizen up forward (prior to Freo) barring the odd game.  If you can name me a forward, other than Jeffy, who's regularly hitting the scoreboard (consistently) i'm only too happy to reconsider.

As mentioned it wasn't Taylor at all but don't let the facts get in the way.

People have questioned Taylor which is more than fair based on what he has done. Haven't seen many if any people call him a dud.

Exactly right. But you are also wrong.

Jason ventured down to Tassie on the back of receiving a list of names to go and watch closely. Lockhart was one of them. Taylor and Tim Lamb both went down and watched several games where Lockhart was the clear stand out on that list. What pricked our recruiters ears up was Lockharts BOG performance in the stage game against the NEAFL. Taylor and our recruitment team encouraged him to try his luck on a more high standard at VFL level.

Before Tom Couch had signed at Casey Demons at the start of 2018 he pushed Lockharts case really hard to Jade Rawlings as well but also got huge endorsement from Jason Taylor as it was an opportunity to really keep an eye out on a weekly basis. Couch had played with and mentored Lockhart, especially from a fitness point of view. Couch really encouraged and pushed him to give VFL a real go.

It was Jason Taylor and his team who first spotted Lockhart.

He doesn't go to ground and he places himself in and around packs and at the fall of the ball.

Streets ahead of Spargo in that sense, and at this early stage (without an AFL pre-season no less) he seems to be more consistent in his efforts than Garlett.

A lock as a small forward for the next 10 years in his current state, skys the limit with further development.

Just watched the replay after seeing the game live. Gee Lockhart completed some extraordinarily clean possessions on the half volley and then either passed off or got the kick on goal. Looked elite skills to me. Just what we have been missing this season.

Clean possession and penetrating long kicks to position (including through the big sticks). Love it. Natural, instinctive footballer - coaching staff, please do not try to “coach” this out of him!

I think he may have a similar trajectory to one we did miss in Papley (although he’s no mental giant going by his election day interview).

However we’ve done quite well in this department of late.

The dogs & pies would be asking why they missed out on Hannan & Hore, while we still managed to get Fritsch & Lockhart.

Love this kid,a real keeper for mine and in our best 22 if he keeps up his workrate.

Not scared to have a ping at the goals

U are dead right! He is a genuine forward. As soon as he gets it he thinks " goal". Others such as ANB do not, they instinctively think " who will I give it to"

Baker disappointed me once yesterday, had the ball 40m out, slight angle, I was screaming at him to kick it, but he tried an impossible pass. Team play is to be commended but if the chance presents itself---/

Good to hear. I only had the word from Tassie re Couch's involvement. It was a surprise it took until two weeks before the season started for them to pick him up, but the main thing is they did I guess :)

He's very creative, heard he played off half back in Tassie, but he might be too small for that at this level

Id like to know what changed from not being picked by us us a rookie to be added to the list a couple weeks before round 1 and playing seniors a couple weeks later.

Was it just a simple matter of next CAB off the list to fill the vacant list spot or something changed??

He was incredibly close GT.. if we had one more pick we would have selected Lockhart. He came back to Casey's day 1 of pre season in absolute elite condition to the point where it was now too good to refuse and he basically selected himself.

Dont underestimate how incredibly hard Lockhart has worked over the past 18 months. He is the type of player you want around your footy club in terms of setting the standards on the training track but also culture wise because of how resilient he is.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
