Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JAY LOCKHART

Recommended Posts

Jay Lockhart has filled our last list spot as a rookie.

"The AFL introduced a Supplementary Selection Period for the first time this year. This allowed teams to add players to their rookie list up until todays date,” General Manager of Football Operations Josh Mahoney told Melbourne Media.

“By passing on our last pick in the rookie draft we had a spot available and today we have added Jay Lockhart to our rookie list for this season.”

The 23-year-old is Tasmanian-born but made the move to Victoria in 2018 in a bid to chase his AFL dream."

As I recall, he plays small defender (rebound/runner) , not so much a Nev 'lockdown' defender type.  Could see him being cover for Lewis, and he could also put pressure on Hunt.  In a couple of games he played further up the ground, including in attack where he got a few goals.  Seemed good over the ball, and looked to have a good (accurate) passing kick in traffic.  More workmanlike than mercurial from what I saw, but a really solid small footballer.

Well worth the pick up.  Think we have ruck covered with Max/Preuss/Keilty (Bradtke too green), and we seemed to lack quality in the flank / run and distribute role, and unless Hunt finds his best headband, could be an inspired pickup.

Staggering we haven't gone with a third ruck option.  If Gawn goes down good luck. Preuss is developing and Bradke three years away. Didn't Hawthorn just add a 4th ruckmen to their list? Add to this the obsession with recruiting Casey players and it is very hard to follow.

I want more Tasmanians. This guy looks pretty tough to me.

Hopefully he's a cross between Russell Robertson, Darrell Baldock and Ian Stewart ( without the cross dressing )

good assessment.... a capable but not outstanding player.

Good depth addition but it underlines that there is really not much in the cupboard at Casey in the depth area.

This season's success will in the end come down to injuries and dare I say it suspensions.

Good luck Jay

Yes, Hawthorn added Ned Reeves. And this is meant as no disrespect to him, but he is no where near an option for Hawks this year; based on seeing him many times last year. He is Hawk's Project Bradke. He didn't play that much in the ruck in A grade amateurs, let alone VFL, let alone AFL. But then again, in the ammo's he was up against a guy who pushed Jamar to the reserves.

I was hoping we would draft him. I thought he had a touch of class from the Casey games that I saw. Bit like that skinny bloke we picked up a year earlier who is now close to my favourite Demon (especially forward of centre when he has ball in hand and time to spot up one of our forwards!).

I dont think i have ever seen him play? Can anyone tell me what kindnof player he is??

Does he also go onto the rookie list or the main list?

Im a big fan. A small but combative back flanker with legit run and kicking ability.

Absolutly what we need.

Was excellent at Casey on a back flank and not too bad as a mid who rested forward when needed in the second half of last year.

Potentially could replace Lewis or free up Salem

Maybe the coaches were reading Demonland last year where Jay received a lot of favorable comments throughout the year.

Well done Jay.

PS(What is his height / weight)

I thought Keilty showed enough in JLT to warrant his inclusion on the backup ruck list. Much rather him line up than Bradke at this stage.

Defender Jay Lockhart, 21-year-old, 183cm, 69kg, earned the Lefroy Medal as Tasmania's best player. He used the ball cleanly off half-back, provided run-and-carry, took intercept marks and ducked through traffic. Lockhart collected 20 disposals, four marks and nine rebound 50s.

Very happy for the young fellow.  May struggle with his height but was consistently in Casey's best last year.

My feeling is that any ruck option we may have signed would not solve any percieved ruck injuries/issues this year as the available ones are all young stick insects.  I noted that the Dorks used their last pick on a 208cm twig who they said will be unlikely to see any action in the 1s let alone 2s this year.

Similar to a Jayden Short from the Tigers but more a 55m kick than 60+.

I think we may have drafted some sort of Benjamin Button. According to Knightmare (see above) on 14 June 2017 he was 183 cm tall. According to Mad As Hell on 2 October 2018 (in the Jay Lockhart thread started last year), he's 177 cm. If he keeps shrinking at this speed he'll change sports and become a jockey before the Spring Racing Carnival.

Some confirmed height and weight numbers would be appreciated.

Yesssss boys awesome stuff. I said during the draft period I was really surprised Jay didn’t get picked up as a rookie.

Some of the games he played for Casey last season were unreal. Handy pick up for sure and I’m super glad he gets a run at the big time.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
