Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Is Hore a tall, small, what position would he play? I really do not know a lot about him.

It will be fascinating seeing Watts play from an opposition point of view.

I see him as keeping Lever’s spot warm. He is a tallish intercept marking defender. Uses it pretty well. I reckon he’ll do a job for us, seems reliable.

Good to see Marty Hore will debut on Saturday. Met him at the Family day. A very personable young man, and handsome too. His photographs don't do him justice. I'm predicting he will become a fan favourite very soon. (Hope he plays well!)

Well thats an interesting point of view.

Seems to have lost confidence especially with his disposal. It won’t help not even being an emergency and Corey Wagner being picked ahead of him. I feel sorry for him because apparently he is a super-professional trainer and a really good person.

I guess my observation Chook was that you need consecutive games to gain confidence, right?.........Roosey didn't play ANB in 2105 & 16, but Goodwin backed him & kept playing him in 17 & 18 & now hes in our best 22.

I thought also last year JKH played a good block of 5 or 6 games & reckon he wasn't far off

ANB played 11 in his debut year, then only 4 in 2016, 19 in 17 and 25 last year obviously, playing in every game

JKH played last 6 of the regular season before being dropped for finals

And that's not all! I told him he was too good looking to be playing football. He might get his face messed up. He had a good laugh with us and he speaks well. All round nice guy. ( He won Collingwood's VFL best and fairest award in 2017 and 2018, so hopefully he brings this good form, with further improvement, to our club).

Watts will smash us. A gifted player who will have to induce more Gatorade than coke this preseason after his public calling out.

He will be sharp.

Corey Wagner deserves a go as he was at North Melbourne and was delisted. You see every now and then Brad Scott has a brain freeze and gets rid of players who can play However doesn't like to keep good honest players. He wants the thugs in his side.

Played 8 games from 2016-17 drafted at 43 for NM. Top season for Casey last year. Marty Hore a dual B&F last 2 years for VFL C/wood.

Worth the pick for a 23 year old backman that can run and carry and could be of value. 190cm plays small and tall  and an accurate kick.

Good luck to  both the boys  and wish you all the best. Make us proud.

Yes agree Wagner and Hore deserve their chance.  Not in the best 22 so debut in MFC is a lot earlier than I expected or considered. Shows the team is absent 4-6 players.

Billy Stretch is on the outer - career under threat

I've called Billy out before for not having the aptitude for AFL - especially with respect our playing style - but his return last year in Darwin was impressive enough to make me reconsider my position.

The emergency list of Preuss, Petty and Keilty suggests that we're not intending to bring another mid/small regardless of the circumstances, and I think Sparrow's inclusion can be considered in line with the rewards system we've used in the past.

As such, and with other injuries, it's not clear how far down the pecking order Stretch truly is - and he may very well be the next-in-line mid,  ahead of KK, JKH and Maynard (but presumably behind AVB). Too early to be calling it cross-roads.

Hannan would be my first pick very underrated player kicked about 20 goals, he's a good player. Vanders career has to be in doubt due to it being the same injury he had earlier.

My best 22

B: JETTA, MAY, LEWIS

HB: SALEM, LEVER, HIBBERD

C : JONES, OLIVER, HARMES

HF: PETRACCA, T.MCDONALD, NEAL-BULLEN

F: MELKSHAM, WEIDEMAN, HANNAN

FOLL: GAWN, VINEY, BRAYSHAW

IC: FRITSCH, KOLODJASHNIJ, PREUSS, VANDENBERG

So 6 out of my best 22

Awesome to see Corey getting a go.

how good is it too see boys come from the VFL into the big time. We’ve got Fritsch, Wagner, Hore, Keilty as an emergency, Hibberd originally VFL as well. Good stuff.

Who and when are Casey playing this week?

I'm pretty happy with the team that's been chosen.

Hore was a no brainer imo, we've needed someone like him in the backline for a while now.

And C.Wagner comes in which adds to our fwd pressure and gives a bit of run. Hopefully it also means more time for Spargo up the ground this season.

I’m staggered that the club has said they kept Smith on the ground in the final JLT match as they didn’t believe his groin injury would worsen. A strain can become a tear in a single movement. He should have been off the ground immediately. It was only a practice match after all. Sheer stupidity.

If we think that's bad, Essendrug played Joe Daniher 3 times in 11 days early last year. He missed the rest of the season with OP. Has a history of it. Idiots.

That's surprising. Essendon has an unparalleled recent history of fully understanding the health of all its players with complete confidence in everything the club doctor says.

Underwhelming team in my opinion. The first 18 basically pick themselves, but the 4 on the bench don't convince me. Definitely a weaker side than we had for most of last year, and our lack of depth (particularly in key positions and through the midfield) is a real concern.

I would like to see an extra tall to provide some cover for when Max rests and Weideman rucks, or if we have an injury, or is the plan to run Max into the ground so he is cooked by finals again? Any of Wagner, Hunt and Spargo could drop out.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
