Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What they need is to install a proper scoreboard like this next to or above the bench for each side. That way you can put up 4 numbers to rotate as well as any in game signals you might need.

Instead they've got clunky and horrible handheld signs that are less effective than the ones they use for soccer substitutions.

Which one is Gill ?

Gill and his mates at AFL House make Max and The Chief look completely sane and sensible.

Or perhaps it's just that Max and The Chief are not trying to impress anyone and do not take themselves seriously.

This is beyond ridiculous. Aside from glare you also have greater distance away from the sign and no official stoppage in play to look at the sign, nor no notice to look at the sign.

You can see what the AFL is trying to do with AFLX but i dont know why they thought this was good nor how they thought this was good and why it was needed.

Well that little initiative didn't last long.  The electronic boards have been scrapped and clubs can use there own boards.  https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/afl-scraps-expensive-led-screens-after-brief-trial-20190306-p5128q.html

Having spent $90,000 on them there off to the scrap heap.  Pity the AFL didn't ask the clubs first.

One would think they would have bought one to try in match conditions before they committed. Someone stuffed up bad or something more sinister.

Can get an LED soccer substitute board for about $100. Or the old fashion manual ones for about $15.

Maybe next time the AFL can pay us 90,000 and we'll get what's needed, split most of the spare cash and put the rest on for a demonland bar function.

They might be better having 4 screens - one at each point where the 50 arc touches the boundary.  Imagine trying to see the board from the far pockets, whilst trying to not let your opponent give you the slip.  A single board at the interchange is rubbish.

Even better is to have then installed around the grounds.

For home ground advantage, the boundary signage for our home games could simply have the symbols whizz around the ground and flash so they cannot be missed

Wow, seriously? The AFL actually tested an idea in a practical sense before making the decision to act upon it????!!! (I’m actually impressed)

In most industries we talk about: evidence-based, risk-informed, decision-making.

im not sure which of the 9 or so rule changes have been thoroughly tested, or to what level of quality, but for the AFL to not solely act on a brain fart is comforting ?

the sooner our game is rid of Gill and his mate Hocking the better. in a relatively short amount of time they've shown themselves to be completely out of touch and nothing but a couple of muddling morons.

I'd argue they're not out of touch @Demon Dude

They're innovating the product.

Now then... I am nudging 40 - and I don't relate to all things they're bringing that surrounds the game - but they're trying to bring versions of the game to a younger market - AND don't forget that average age of players is around 23... they've all being brought up on devices, and are tech savvy... I'd argue that although you and I don't necessarily 'connect' with it - they have an understanding that the broader section of society that will follow the game in 10 years, 20 years will want shorter versions of the game with more 'insights/statistics' and grounded more with technology...let alone those who play the game themselves.

implementing useless electronic devices that were never going to work is innovating the product is it? well I guess its an innovating way to blow 100k that's for sure.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
