Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I have to say that Milkshake is one of my favourites the kind of player that gives you a buzz when kicking a goal at the right moments taking a mark when it counts finding space at the pointy end of the game I cannot fault his play. I am a big fan of his and I would not be on my own in saying that.

3 year contract. I am a happy Demon.

I’m currently sitting in an over water villa in the Maldives on my honeymoon drinking Tigers. Life is good.

My wife has expressly banned me from:

1. reading work emails;

2. drinking to many Tiger beers; and

3. reading Demonland.

BUT - I just saw the Melksham contract extension news on Instagram and simply had to get on Demonland. And drink more Tigers.

I love this bloke.

I have made plenty of completely stupid predictions over the years, but not in relation to this guy - I knew he was going to be a great pick up. He was our Bernie trade of that year, much like his best mate Hibberd was a year later.

I’m absolutely stoked that he’s going to be roaming around our forward 50 for many years to come.

This club is just unreal these days!

Ron, I think you must be the best lover on Demonland.

Now adding a new wife to your list of other loves.

Keep loving Ron, it must be in your DNA.

Your last sentence does suggest honeymoon euphoria.

After all my marriages and liaisons, I can tell you, it does wear off.

Sorry to interrupt the Tiger Beers and playing Twister with your loved one...........but correction, I meant wife not new wife.

When I use the word wife I usually use the plural.

given it's a honeymoon, ernie, its a fair bet the wife is a fairly new wife and ron is a fairly new husband.....just saying, though if you wanted to be truly 'modern' you could have come up with a genderless alternative.

Always thought Ron was an oldie, well middle-aged although he does at time exhibit the naive, enthusiastic and emotional responses of youth. Thought crossed my mind that it could be the second or third, but the Maldives does suggest youthful spontaneity and a desire to please. The unforgettable honeymoon that becomes forgettable if like a candle, the initial bright flame of love slowly flickers before being extinguished by boredom or unfaithfulness.

As for Jake his inside 50 kicks and aerial contests as a forward have been a revelation. Not bad for a midfielder we recruited as a defender.

Not the ideal preseason but I wonder how much his ankle injury restricted him last year, still think he has a level more to go to with defensive work, crumbing and getting even more of the ball around the ground.

Saw him (Jake) play a couple of times at Essendrug. Hardly got a feed from his teammates as he was a bypass player. In the doldrums, he decided to do something about it and very cleverly, at that. When recruited to the Dees, I was very happy; knew it was all in him and perhaps more. His physical attributes were noticeably very sound. His reading of the play had something akin to ball glue about it. He's now producing even more - and the Dees are very lucky to have him. Ditto, for Hibberd, whose attack on the ball and his great kicking really impressed.

Remember seeing him play against the Dees in his first season (I think) and thought he was one hell of a tough and aggressive kid.  Not only no backward steps but a provocative in your face kid.

Also remember thinking how like Essendon and how unlike any young Melbourne player.  Of course, I disliked him immediately as a total prat.

Now it's very nice to see him in the face of our opponents.

I'm on record as being very negative when we recruited him. He was a turnover merchant at Essendon, but he's matured and is now arguably our most important player for connecting midfield to forwardline. Well done, Jake. I was wrong.

AF, it matters little that you were on record as being negative about this guy.

The fact is that you had lots of friends. Many informed Demon fans were dubious about Melksham and there were many Bomber supporters who told us that we had picked up a dud.

Also since coming over to MFC, Jake has had his moments and played some very poor games. I remember sitting in the stands at the beginning of last season and cursing him as he appeared so slow and appeared to lack effort and intensity.

Lets face it, he had been in the system a long time and had a less than stellar career.

He got better as the season progressed and blossomed in the second half.  It is the second half of the season that really turned around opinion on his footy and his impact on games.

It shows how coaches influence the careers of players.  Giving a player the right support, encouragement and the confidence can make or break careers.  At times, it appeared that Goodwin was gifting him games. Another one in that category was Neal-Bullen.  However, Goodwin got it right on both counts.

Let's face it, sometimes people surprise us. Too often we pass judgement prematurely or unfairly on others. We get it wrong.

We would live in a much better world if there were more people who were prepared to say "I/we got it wrong".

Imagine if we had Governments, political leaders and community leaders with the honesty and guts to say we were wrong. Imagine the improvement to personal relationships if admitting to wrong opinions and wrong doing was the rule rather than the exception.

There are many people in my industry who are never wrong either. Fortunately, I surround myself with good people these days.

If a football club fails to acknowledge its failures it's doomed to repeat them, unless those running the football club are replaced.

We have good people in all areas of the club now, who are good people managers and that's so vital.

So maybe I should be saying well done MFC, as well as Jake. He said as much in his interview too.

I know he is such a threat forward but is it worth persevering with JM in the midfield? After last weeks effort I really think he is the bigger, hardened body we need at the moment and at 27 I think he could very well revel there.

I think we need him across half forward. If he can't get into the game, by all means, through him into the midfield mix, but otherwise, playing him midfield actually means he has less time to pick the option he would from the half forward flank or inside 50.

one of either Melk or Petracca needs to play as a midfielder imo. we're too slow in the forward half with both in there, plus a couple of tall KPFs as well. so maybe with Viney out we should rotate both through the midfield, swapping with each other to the forward line about 50/50, so they both aren't forwards at the same time. also tell them if they don't put in good defensive effort as a mid or fwd, that they will be dropped the next week.

Melksham is among the best half-forwards in the game right now.

Currently easily our leading goalkicker, goal assist, score involvements and, incredibly, marks inside 50.

Without him, we'd be dead last right now... ah frak.

But my point is, you don't shuffle around one of your few players who are doing a really good job in the role they are in. I mean, I'm sure Gawn would offer us something valuable full-time in the forward line, too, but I'm not about to call for him to leave the ruck!

He is the only shining light up forward. I get the temptation to move him further up the ground but we just don't have anyone capable of doing what he does in the forward half.

He is a ripper.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
