Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

He doesn't have to be star.
Just play his role.
Target would be a couple goals a game this early on.

Jesse was never a true Full Forward in my eyes. He never took an overhead pack mark. Most of his good work came 30-40 metres from goal. Jesse also assisted in a lotof goals, so i am not denying his talents. But The Weid could become a great Full Forward, when he is not tackling an opponent on the members wing.

He can put the long arms up and hold marks. His opponents will be studying his game now though, i have no doubt.

Pruess has incredible strength and when combined with his height, he might be a good option to nullify Cox if he posed a threat to us we needed to contain

He is the bloke to play on Cox, but there are many others in the whole comp on whom Preuss could be completely effective. His strength and physical presence are just two components that provide (other than that provided by Gawny, to the death so far) great options for our team as a swing ruck-forward-backman, depending on the team we are playing. This, at least, provides that relief we must have for a longitudinal Max Gawn and due to Braydon's age, he may well be the longitudinal heir apparent to Gawn. Whatever the case - and no-one will know until this season is underweigh - our acquired 2-ruck combination is highly formidable. Given the talls in TMac, Weideman, OMac, Joel Smith and even Bradtke (once matured), we really are poised for some positive action it would seem.

I’ve seen nothing this pre-season / jlt to change my opinion.

He does lots right particularly at ground level but he can’t get his body in the right position to take strong contested marks which is what he needs to do to play his role.

In his last 5 games in 2018, including 3 finals, Weideman took 13 contested marks at an average of 2.6 per game.

Across the season as a whole that average would have placed him equal second with Jack Darling on 2.6 and just behind the best contested mark for 2018 Jeremy McGovern.

What you envisage as a weakness is one of the biggest strengths in the competition.

He is fantastic at ground level and when he gets a leap at the ball.

Contested marks stats don’t count for when he is too easily blocked from getting near the footy.

I have more patience for a 21 year old key forward still learning the caper.

Ladies and gents. Today I saw Sam Weideman in a hardware store and shook his hand, wishing him all the best for the season ahead. He seems like a really personable and pleasant young man. Despite being bailed up by a bogus looking bloke, he smiled and thanked me.

The last Demon player whose hand I shook was Clayton Oliver ( and look how that's turning out )

Could be a big year for Sam !!

Already showed enough in the finals, and should only get better as he gets older.

We wont have to rely on him solely as TMac is the No. 1 forward.

Joel Smith kicked the most goals out of anyone in the whole competition in the JLT and could be a revelation up forward.

The Hunt experiment also looks  promising, and guys like Melksham and Petracca always chime on for a couple.

I think our forward line has the potential to go to another level this year.

I disagree, he's already better than Hogan in his intended role. that's why we traded him. Hogan plays more like an oversized half fwd flanker than a key fwd and he's frightened of the big stage. that's why he always gave a poor showing in big games against top teams, and is probably the same reason why he wanted to go to lowly Freo.

unlike Weid who plays like key forward, taking contested marks and bringing the ball to ground for the crumbers, and he tore it up on the big stage against good teams when he got his chance.

50 goals from Weideman is the aim.  He needs to be the Hogan type now.

Completely different type of player 'norm'....

The only similarity is they both play key forward, Weideman also has a run in the ruck.

I don't see the Hogan type doing that.

I think it’ll be more like 50 from TMac

30 from Weed

25 from J Smith

20 from Melksham

20 from Petracca

Pleased to hear that he didn’t get the rough end of the pineapple.

Yeah I’m just being ultra conservative and proving a point that we do have to rely on any one player.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
