Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Massive generalisation mate. I am not a MCC member but know plenty who are far from wealthy, nor have the attitude you paint. My father was a 50 year member and struggled to find the cash each year to pay the dues. Demographics are more nuanced that broad sweeping statements.

I have great pity for your father. It's apparent he never took out his frustration on you (enough).

I’m an MCC member and 20 consecutive MFC member. But really the MCC/MFC membership is really an $87 donation as I get no real benefit other than supporting the club financially.

Would it make a difference if the MCC/MFC membership was reduced to $50, as a donation as such. I don’t need yet another scarf or membership card that doesn’t gain me entry to games. They could save on this, print of bumper stickers, and postage.

Totally agree. I’ve been a joint member for over 10 years and theres literally no benefit. Either drop the price or make it more attractive to sign up.

Pppffttt the benefit is the club you support gets a little further revenue.

I am proud to pay the extra cash to be an MCC/ MFC member. I have done so for over 10 years to support the club I have followed for a damn long time and I'll continue to do it because that's the most practical and valuable support I can give them. If others in my situation don't, well then that's a shame but everyone has there reasons.

All we can really do is encourage them to join up and build our numbers because it a step towards bringing the club to the heights we want it to reach.

So you hate all the people in the MCC?

or do you decipher somehow who have paid and who have not?

i have paid a full MCC Membership and bought a FULL MFC Membership for 25 years and i always sit in the Members Reserve and enjoy a great view

Be careful who you hate. We need to embrace EVERYONE. It’s been one of our core problems. The Members v The MCC Reserve. We need to become one....

So tell them to join in with the rest of the crowd... whether that be a Mexican Wave, or other spontaneous passionate gesturing.

It's time the Mcc enclosure caught up with society, and stopped being so stuffed shirt.

Maybe this is why CH-7 & 9....  have transferred Summer sports with one another... to try to change the dried out old ways, and refresh those sports and the hand-me-down attitudes and cultures, that have grown onto those Sports,  like another layer of dead skin.

Notice some old cricket commentators with lifelong employment guarantees are missing from CH-7 cricket.

Will the same be done at CH-9 tennis ?

Now I understand why James Brayshaw disappeared so suddenly from "The Footy Show", without much being said about it at the time.

He's been at CH--7 for a while, behind the scenes.

The footy crowd is quite different in the members. There is chanting going on (could be better though) and the support for the Dee's is as strong as in any other part of the ground. I know the members reserve is only one qtr of the ground  but for Melbourne matches it's the most packed part of the ground. The finals matches took the support to a new level.

I can't believe only half the MCC Melbourne supporters are Melbourne Members. Being a Melbourne member should be the first priority.

I wonder how relevant this stat is. Has anyone done analysis on whether those MCC members who don't tick the box actually hold seperate MFC memberships?

I along with 3 other family members are all MCC members who do not tick the box. Reason being we all hold full separate MFC Adult Trident Memberships.

If it's a choice between the MCC and the MFC then the answer is simple, I am not a member of the MCC and never wanted to be, I am a member of the MFC because I want to support my club.

I could never see any point in joining the MCC, if I want to go to the cricket, I'll by a ticket, if I want to go to the finals I'm not going to line up out the front of the ground, I'll get one through the Final Guarantee I get with my membership. I see the stories where people are almost prepared to go without food to pay for their MCC membership, why?

Is/was there some sort of prestige being a member of the MCC, I can't see it.

I think the membership value has diminished significantly since the old pavilion stand was knocked down and numbers increased.

They can't guarantee a GF seat anymore and on normal game days there are too many reserved seats sold in the members taking away prime viewing areas.

I used to roll up on game day and have a nice little spot in the pavilion up level with where the coaches boxes were. The line up on GF day has always been a pain but at least you would be assured of a spot.

There are too many members now and too many guests taking away full member seating.

...but the big draw of being a member is the waiting list. People will always join a line to get into anything and this is just about the biggest line in town.

When running the odd show we would always leave the doors closed to draw a crowd out front as the intrigue would be piqued and more would join the line wanting to get in.

It was well known certain venues would indeed rent a crowd to start the line and of course the classic door b.... had a prime role.

I've been a member for a a long time now and every year it gets harder to find reason to pay over the cash particularly as I don't go to many games anymore because in part of the above reasons...and I don't get to the cricket now.

I used to enjoy boxing day a lot, we would meet up with some people every year from the bush that we didn't even really know apart from having a couple of pots and a chat, they were always there... then we would go a find some more new acquaintances.

It got too crowded with the party crowd...the same ones that go to events like the cup, tennis etc...boring mob, not interested in sport just want to be seen.

Long answer...prestige, no, anyone can be a member if you're prepared to wait long enough.

Value, probably not...paying for the club membership and the GF guarantee is probably a more sensible way to go.

Are you missing anything. No, the old long room had some character but now it's just another bland room.

They returned the club back to the supporters...  coming back to Moorabbin.

pisss off the supporters and close them out at your peril,  as a sporting club.

It would be interested to see how that tailed off the further the season went.

Maybe part of the numbers came when it looked as though they were going to be a decent team in '18? Two years of floating around 9 to 11 should have had them primed for a finals run.

There was something dodgy about St.Kilda's numbers last year.  All season we had a tally 1 or 2 thousand more than them, and then suddenly in July ( yes July!), they found another 4 thousand members.  They went from 42,605 in June to 46301 in 4 weeks.

was also a bit dodgy when they started the membership period with a massive campaign on 2 game memberships. not towards the end of the season but before the season even started!

Didn't they have the $1 memberships? How many of those actually paid up by the end of the year? Are these audited AFL figures or the club ones

There's no way you would take up a Saints membership in July even if it was only 2 games. Probably decided to add in the 'free' pet memberships. Very dodgy!

Could easily by SMJFC associated memberships, my kids got offered memberships with their junior club participation

Interestingly, we’ve done the same thing this year - kids playing in the south-eastern junior div can choose to align their membership with either saints or dees

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
