Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Any word on Preuss' shoulder injury?

Watch the song after the game, he couldn't lift his arm to put around Spargo.   And hes about 3 feet taller than Charlie.

With our injury luck this season Im expecting the worst.

I'd love to get a decent medico at our club.

Docherty 4 months from ACL.

These sorts of post really frustrate me.

Do you know anything about Docherty's injury, or his fitness, or his rehab, or Carlton's medical team?

Do you have any idea at all about how his rehab would have gone, if all else was equal, at our club?

Does him running laps at four months post-ACL mean he's going to make some sort of remarkable recovery?

Or are you just posting garbage?

It appeared like he jarred the AC Joint...  He tried to bump the opponent from a bent over prone position.   Not smart from Preussy because he could not brace his body properly from that position.

He'll play sore for a while I reckon.

Injury List

Oscar McDonald | Concussion – Available

“Oscar has no issues after that concussion. He trained today and will be available for selection this week.”

Neville Jetta | Knee – Test

“Nev trained the day before the game and trained really well, but just pulled up a little bit sore and was a little bit swollen in the knee. He made a really good team decision – he didn’t want to let the team down. He was touch and go but obviously missed, so we’ll be hopeful for him this week.”

Jay Lockhart | Back – Test

“Jay just got a back spasm at training the day before the game coming off the flight, so again, he was a lot better the morning of the game, but we wanted to take a fit 100 percent team in, so Jay was left out. But he’s turned around really quickly over the weekend so he should be available.”

Braydon Preuss | Shoulder – Test

“He came back and had a scan on the shoulder which showed there wasn’t too much structural damage. We’ll review him today and monitor him during the week, but we hope he’ll be able to get out there on the weekend.”

Jordan Lewis | Hamstring – Test

“He did a big session on Friday back in Melbourne with the rehab group. He’ll have a normal week this week and look to make himself available.”

Kade Kolodjashnij | Concussion – TBA

“We will continue to monitor Kade after his head knock against Essendon. He has some lingering concussion symptoms and these will need to clear before we have more clear timeframes on his return.”

Steven May | Groin – 2-4 weeks

“Steven had his first couple of running sessions last week, so we’ll look to keep increasing his volume this week.”

Aaron vandenBerg | Foot – 4-6 weeks

“Vanders had a run outside last week. He pulled up a little bit sore, so we’ll review him today, but hopefully we can keep progressing his rehab this week.”

Joel Smith | Groin – 4-6 weeks

“Joel’s actually due to run today. He’s been gradually getting better and better, so we’ll look to start his re-loading program today.”

Jake Lever | Knee – 6 weeks

“Jake’s due to do essentially his first full session with the group on Wednesday. He’s almost ticked off all of his rehab – still needs to do a bit of contact work – but essentially he’s going to need a month of full training with the group before he plays, and that’ll start soon.”

Mitch Hannan | Knee – 6 weeks

“Mitch has been slowly increasing his speed and agility in rehab and is doing a lot of ball work. He’ll probably do the session the day before the game on Friday with the main group, so that’s a really big step forward for Mitch. Again, he’s going to need a decent block of training before he plays, but he’s certainly heading in the right direction.”

Jay Kennedy Harris | Knee – 8-10 weeks

“Jay had his first run outside on Friday and felt really good. That was really pleasing as we weren’t really sure how he’d go, but importantly he’s pulled up well, so we’ll start to ramp his volume up this week.”

Guy Walker | Shoulder – Indefinite

Aaron Nietschke | Knee – Season

I thought groin injuries were usually a 4 week injury. It’s already been 4 and Smith is a 4-6 which means he’s potentially going to miss half the season with a groin injury???

Frustrating that May and Vandenberg appear to have had set backs, AvB could really make in impact if given the opportunity.

Vandenberg is a worry, he is an important cog in the machine, was it his ankle that kept him out for so long previously? Is it another "hotspot" that we seem prone too?

Last year i rated smiths defensive speed  to close opposition fwd entries, but closed my eyes when he was to dispose of the  ball, until his last 2 games he found time to execute. He seems to get injured every time he just starts to click.

May’s lack of pre season fitness is really not helping his recovery it seems. Another massive disappointment.

I would say,  from the little I know of things Re May,  that his attitude toward coming into his first Pre-Season with his new club,  imo shows his laconic attitude toward his physical preparation generally.

So I'm suggesting he might never have had himself in true elite condition and fitness.  So this is good and bad. in a sense his body could be underdeveloped ??? cardiovascular... maybe some of our Physio Doctor types could share here ?

But on the positive side, he could make big strides with a change of attitude and of desire,  and dedication to improve his body and physical condition...  similarly,  I put Tracca in a similar boat.

VDB is the big worry I’d say due to his previous issues.  I think originally they said 2 weeks and now it has blown out considerably.

I’m not overly concerned with May, I think they are just putting some extra work into him to set his season up.

I’m sure I heard Goody say that Lever is only a few weeks away.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
