Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I spoke with Jayden Hunt’s dad last week and he told me that Jayden was buoyed by the fact that Goodwin told him in his Exit interview that he was a required player and they would not entertain any trade discussions about him.

His Dad mentioned that Jayden is really targeting the Wing position as his best chance of breaking in.

He wont make it on a wing or in the midfield.

Thanks for the great pics. Trac is clearly looking more cut. No baby fat there anymore. Hope for his sake he's been able to lose a bit off his legs. But there looks like there's been real progress there. Fritsch looks like he has more muscle definition in his arms. Might end up being one of those rangy physiques that has plenty of strengh. Like a Michael Tuck.

Agreed... he seems to have less puppy fat on torso.  But the legs might look more muscularly defined If...  he did more klm's on them in Pre-Seasons.

I want to see Him much Fitter in 2019... and cover much more of the field at pace.

I'd also like to see him change his attitude towards International Sports Stars, and stop idolising them... and start to think about becoming a genuine Star, in his own right...  Via his own hard work.

Thats is all I want to see from Tracca...   Team player, with effort, first and foremost.

Disagree. Watch the highlights clip below from his first year when he was fit and confident. All his best moments came bursting from the wing or through the middle. Some great pieces of play there where he outmarks Mitch McGovern, takes off immediately around a few opposition and then lowers the eyes to hit Jones. Love the stoppage play on the wing against the Hawks too where he gets the handball out of the pack, bursts forward, steadies outsides 50 and goals.

He's got all the attributes to a great wingman. He runs hard both ways, has great pace, good agility, good overhead, and can kick it a mile. If he learns to control the rush of blood to the head and vary his kicks more, he could be seriously damaging in the Issac Smith wingman mould. He's one of the most exciting prospects on our list IMO.

That video just supports what I said.  He runs in straight lines down the ground, which is why hes a half back flanker. Also he doesn't have the footy nous to play midfield.   Just needs to get the ball and run fast from the half back line.

Maybe he makes it , maybe not.

He won't get a game in our back half. Disagree he doesn't have footy smarts. Reads it well. I'd the fe didn't think he was up to it they would have traded him.

I can totally see Hunt on a wing if he is playing at his best. I don’t know what happened to him last year, maybe drank too much of his own bath water in 2017? He just never looked like cementing a spot in 2018 even with Lever out and a huge hole in our defence.

At his best he can mark, run seriously fast, prop and kick it a mile. He can clearly finish well in front of goal also. He is never going to be an inside mid but we don’t need him to be. As a winger he could really be something if he just settles down, does the work and starts lowering his eyes. I really hope he does.

YEah, Jayden Hunt's lack of form was so strange. He was exactly the type of player we needed in our team, outside speed and run and he couldn't even break the team. Obviously goodwin has his reasons (maybe it was his defensive pressure) but geez we lacked speed last season. Getting hunt back into form must be a top priority.

I understand any issues Hunt had are addressed and while he wont be completely rounded i.e. kicking disposal, the other attributes he brings will see him in and out of the 22. I expect a huge Pre-season and my tip is he and J Smith are the big improvers this year. I think unless you are a bona fide star we will be working with 26-30 in and out of the firsts. I hope so anyway, we need to play fit for 26 games next year.

Hunt has pace, but is it speed of the mark? I've often admired his ability to run down opponents or grab the ball and dash 50m in a straight line before disposing (often poorly). But I've never thought of him as having a quick first 20m or being an agile outsider. In one of the GF half time sprints big Steven May was well ahead of Hunt at about the 40m mark before Hunt ran over him. I'm sure he'll work on his weaknesses over the preseason, but am not confident he's the answer to our outside need for speed

can people take heaps of photos of the new draftees tomorrow at their first training!

The first day is usually a dog's breakfast, ie a walk, a jog, maybe a kick and handball , a [censored] and a look around, last year Spargo et al didn't appear until near the end of the session

Unfortunately work calls tomorrow morning but will grab a heap in next couple of weeks

Hunt is like the rest, 22 spots up for grabs Rd1, up to him to make Goodwin give him one

Speed is such a ridiculous thing, don’t get me wrong obviously quick players have their benefits, but speed in football comes from ball movement and ability to spread to the right spots. When we spread from the contest well after winning the inside ball, we were pretty much the quickest side in the comp. Line breaking players have their importance but what cost us in games was when we didn’t do the basics well and lost the ball on the inside for the most part.

Why does he have to do the first to achieve the second? Couldn't he do both?

I suspect his attitude is of an idolising adolescent. looking up to others,,, instead of being settled within hmself.

If you watch him closely when onfield,  he also spectates at the play quite often... signs of letting others do the work, while he admires/idolises his environment.

He, is still,  'just a boy',  inside himself.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
