Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Foxtel Sports aka Kayo

Recommended Posts

Just went to look up what channel the opening T20 match against India is on this evening to find that it too is behind the paywall.

As part of the search I came up with foxtel's new sports streaming product called Kayo.

I see it includes AFL and has a price of $25 per month with a premium price of $35.

Would be very interested in reviews and comments.

In particular is it streamable to my TV and is it HD? Is there an app that I can put on my smart TV or is it simply a glorified version of phone streaming.

Also what about contracts.

Many thanks

My understating it can be chromecast and apple played (is that a thing) and there is no contract.

Similar to Netflix and Spotify. Whose model no doubt depends on people simply not ever bothering to stop it.

it is tempting for the footy i have to say, in so far as i usually go to the pub to watch interstate games that are not on free to air and if you add together pub priced drinks, the occasional bet on the pub tab and perhaps a meal, i'm not getting much change from $70.

From this article: https://www.news.com.au/sport/kayo-sports-dubbed-netflix-for-sport-now-available-in-app-form/news-story/235080eb7d59fbd349da4e0a2357e76c

What has been described as the “Netflix for sport” is now available as an app on your mobile or tablet.

A trial of Kayo Sports has been released and is tipped to be a game-changing streaming service for Australian sports lovers.

After a successful web trial launch two weeks ago, Kayo Sports apps for Android and iOS, along with Apple TV, have also been released in trial form and are available in their respective stores.

Kayo offers a smorgasbord of more than 50 sports including a full summer of Australian cricket, AFL, NRL, Wimbledon, NFL and NBA.

Australia’s leading sports broadcasters, including Fox Sports, ESPN and BeIN, are key partners to Kayo, and their TV channels are the source of much of the content the new platform provides.

The service delivers live sports, as well as streaming matches on demand, in high definition, without ad breaks. Its different formation allows sports fans to watch multiple sports - be they live or replayed - at the same time.

The days of having to choose between NRL, AFL, rugby or football are over - you can have it all at once. The service also offers an extensive library of matches and other programming including documentaries and panel shows.

Subscribers can watch sports without the need to pay for extra, non-sports content and a spoiler-free mode is also being offered to hide scores from sports fans.

Users can sign up for a 14-day free trial, before activating a $25 per month “basic” deal or $35 per month “premium” deal, which can be cancelled at any time.

There has been a huge amount of positive feedback since the trial started.

apparently the difference between standard and premium subscriptions are the number of devices.

Two for standard... three for premium.

Sharing the service between friends/family members makes it attractive.

Anything about quality on the big (70-80 inch) TV's and internet speed needed to get a good stream.

As Binman says this could be worthwhile and that coming from someone who hates Foxtel is a BIG concession.

The cricket quality is good (a lot better than what the AFL has ever been streamed in), but no one knows what quality the AFL will be shown at. The replays on Kayo are the same low q rubbish on the Telstra site

I hope the AFL games aren't iPhone sized on an 80 inch TV like they are on the iPad.

Kayo is HD and has chrome cast as well as Apple TV integration

Kayo is great as someone who does not have Foxtel I've signed up for the free trial and will keep it going. It should have been done years ago.

However, do you how I can watch on Apple TV without mirroring off the phone app on to Apple TV?

Does anyone know if there will be an Apple TV app for it?

The attached article talks about data usage and more importantly for those of us still on ADSL, required internet speed.

It's suggesting a minimum speed of 7.8mb/s for high definition at a data useage rate of 7Gbs per hour.

Just did a speed test and I'm showing 2.8mb/s for my old ADSL line so probably no go until NBN arrives in 2020.

Potential category killer if Foxtel gets it right.

The flip side is that it may well destroy the "normal Foxtel" as one the sports discriminator is reduced.

Normal Foxtel is dying anyway, this will save them.

There is an app for it on Apple TV. Just go into the app store on your Apple TV and type Kayo.

80 inch screen!

You have too much money!

i have often wondered how far away from an 80 inch screen you have to sit, you must have a big room.

Nothing to do with anything but why in our world where everything is metric do we still have wheel sizes and TVs screens in imperial?

That is big in my world however glad to see you are still in the real world of normal size rooms and a normal ego Dland.

When the Dees are winning they look great on my iPad. Much better of course on the 55 Panasonic.

Many people I know share Netflix and Foxtel Go subscriptions between friends and family.

The Foxtel Go allows you one device change per month so you can't just flick them around as people want to use them. It has five devices but only allows two simultaneous uses.

I see Kayo offers two devices for $25 and three for $35 per month.

One plus of streaming to a phone/tablet and then streaming to the TV is that it makes VPN usage easier overseas.

Might take advantage of the 14 day trial and see how it goes.

My family share Netflix and it works well for $13 / month.

Lets know how Kayo goes DJ.

The big danger in this house is a disgruntled Mrs OD from all the sport being watched.

The service and quality of the streams are fantastic.  Make sure if you are going to stream vis a Chromecast, make sure to get the ultra version as Kayo streams at 60fps where the normal Chromecast runs at 30.

There customer service is really good and gets back really quick with any issues.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
