Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We need a ruckman so Bradtke can play predominately forward, I don't know who to drop for him probably Tynan or Munro.

White will be skipper he was skipper when Hutchins was injured.

We desperately need Bowman to help out Bradtke. He comes from our area get it done Dees.

Surprised that Tom Freeman didn’t figure in any of the rookie draft discussion. He looks a future prospect to me.

Agreed. He showed real ability. Like to see him get more game time in 2019.  Not sure how given limited spots on vfl lists. Only 12-13 blokes maximum given 45 already on our list.

Casey aiming for 15 in the squad. That makes 60 players all up including MFC list.

James Freeman Tom Freeman Mitch Gent Mitch Lewis Jay Lockhart Corey Machaya James Munro Corey Stockdale Mitch White

Add returning Luke Tynan.

Likely another ex AFL player being announced shortly. Plus add 4-5 youngsters.

As others have mentioned in other threads the key forward depth is pretty thin. I'll be interested to see who actually does play forward this year for Casey and also what the drafting and trading strategy will be in the coming seasons.

Agreed. Casey is full of mid sized utility types. Rawlings will need to push to get a quality ruck into his squad.

Dees also need some more depth in key forward position and work with Casey to see if any could be developed for future drafting. Maybe youngsters like Haydn McLean, Josh Smith, Riley Bowman or Hudson Garoni will be looked at by Casey.

As far as depth goes. I think we are not covered so well if Jetta gets injured.  I think he is key for our setup.  Allowing others some freedom.

If Jetta were injured I'd like to see Nathan Jones given a chance back there. I think he could last a bit longer at the club in that role.

Be really great for us to focus and develop over time the young Bradtke into a specialist full forward and scare machine with mongrel.

Actually, might be worth a try NC...  if that were to happen to Nev.

I think Nev is our hardest to replace.

I think Bradtke has to ruck to learn his craft quickly and rest forward accept when Preuss plays at casey.

I think Preuss will play at least 50% in the AFL.  But not every match, as i reckon we will drop Gawn down on games per season. and on %time on the ball.

I think we will manage Gawnus, trying to lengthen his career, whilst managing his loads.

If either got injured... max or preussy, then we will be needing dee-bradt to learn early season... as much as he can, to cover this scenario.

I would fast track Bradtke for the first 2 months of the VFL season then ease him off playing more time up forward after that.

Let him run on the ball early... which is a closer thing to basketball, than being stuck leading from the goal square with some one punching him in the back of head all the time.

Certainly add to the rebound and clearance ability of the backline with a swinger to the HBF, such as OMac as KK looks better at this point as an outside Mid.

For those who were not around when the great Norm Smith was coach he believed the best small defenders were midfielders who had run their course in midfield. When MFC recruited Stuart Spencer as a back pocket player he stated to Stuart he was too young to play there and he made him a rover who became on of the AFL's great rovers.

Not sure which youngsters are training at Casey. Hope to see Mitch Riordan name being mentioned.

Dandy Stingrays and Haileybury College boy who has the Luke Parker type style. Plays to win and he does. Strong and skilled mid. Would have definitely been drafted but injuries killed his year.

Do you think his Ego will let him spend the majority of the season at Casey

If he wants to play football, he'd better go to Casey more regularly. I see him being more use to the MFC as a FD coach.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
