Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I once thought that too, the name is a coincidence, they companies were not connected.

Correction a British engineer bought the rights to the name and motor design but afterwards was always a english company.

So there is German connection way back

that makes more sense

I think basically what happened was Gottleib Daimler invented the petrol engine, his company built the first vehicles in the 1880’s. Benz was a rival nearby.  An English company bought the right to use the Daimler name on cars.

Daimler died in 1900. After WW1 his corporation and Benz joined forces creating Mercedes Benz and the name of the parent company was and still is Daimler.   If that makes any sense.

Yes you are right. But for a time, maybe short there was the Daimler Benz Company

There was indeed. But to avert any confusion going forward they went with Mercedes Benz.

It was my late Brother-in-law's.  He did it up in the 1980s.

He was an exterior designer for Ford starting in the 70s and culminating in being Ford's head exterior designer.  The Jag was just one of many he played around with.

Unfortunately, Jag along with most brands have lost their distinctive difference in styling inside and out.  How do they market a car that looks like so many others ?

World wide competition is so great across the board whether it be top, middle or bottom of the range. All brands can only compete on new sale and resale price along with running cost, and perhaps fashion.

Why buy a Jag (unless your an enthusiast and its an old one) over any other brand ?

Maybe status, but I can't see Jag in that category any more. Although that could be said for BMW, Audi, Benz etc. In the city these brands are a dime a dozen. In the country its very different and the choice of vehicle is usually Hilux or a Japanese 4wd !!

Perhaps someone with more knowledge of cars than me can identify what differentiates Jag.

Im waiting on the New Defender , next year they reckon. :)

Though the new jag's do have good reviews, and I think we are a good fit for us.  Hopefully multi-year.

We have one New Defender, May, and another reconditioned one, Lever.

My question is can we get VW to sponsor Neville Jetta?

I bet it did and they had good brakes if they were serviced correctly.

My friends 4.2 would always stop dead straight

Trouble with all that era of Jags was that the huge lump of iron at the front could get the cars up to really high speeds, but the brakes were from the same era...totally inadequate for the momentum that had been developed. They could never take a corner at speed, and usually suffered severe brake fade after a couple of applications.

I’m sure that has all been rectified today, but all I care is that whoever owns Jaguar is paying us loads of money to keep our football club competitive.

I certainly don’t want to be in Port or St.Kildas situation hoping that chocolate milk producers are going to fork out anything substantial in sponsorship.

Like i said, if you had the brakes worked on properly they were very good at pulling up such a big car. Straight out of British Leyland i totally agree.

And yes i also want the money to flow.

The logo looks fabulous

Doing my annual winter trip to India at present. Yeah it's different and it's unbelievably hot outside the November to March period.

Almost every truck is a Tata so there's scope to think laterally if we want to bring in the brawn. Not that many years ago who had ever heard of Isuzu.

Isuzu ?

Anyone who owned a Rodeo ;)

Why do you say this?

Because there is presumably a long lead time on these deals and it's disappointing that we are often the only club not to have a BOJ sponsor sorted by Round 1. Not this year, which is great.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
