Is this for real? Horrible news if true. RIP Colin. Far too young a life to be lost.

‘landers it’s with a real heavy heart that I deliver this news, but I have it on very good authority that Col Sylvia has passed away in a car accident over the weekend. Please keep his family in your prayers.

It has not hit the media yet, and if the mods wanna pull the thread, then I understand.

Col was a great contributor to our club through some dark days and we should remember him this way.

rip Col

How did you hear about the accident and knew it was Col?

Wow, No...

That is sad.  I always liked Col, and I had high hopes... that finished;  but I still liked him, and hoped he would do well somewhere.

This is a shock, very sad.

Shocking news. I feel so shocked and eerie about it all. I loved watching you play Colin and followed you so closely from under 18's, to vfl at sandy to playing with the mighty dees. R.I.P! :(

Oh no...

Absolutely shattered if this is true.

As someone who started to take in interest in the Demons during the mid to late 2000's, Colin was one of my first 'idols.'

Thoughts go to his friends and family.

RIP Colin Sylvia I'll always remember that last half of the year ( I think it was 2011) where you played some great football and got a fair few brownlow votes too that was when you were at your best. Gone too soon.

RIP Col.

Best wishes to his family and friends.

Easy to forget,  in the fishbowl of AFL and chasing hard that ever elusive flag, just how human the players are. How much they hurt when things don’t go well and the personal difficulties some  go through under the  microscopic lense of the afl media.

Thanks col for all the memories ... loving thoughts to your family

Tragic news, so sorry to hear this. Far too young. Rest in Peace Colin.

Very sad to hear.

?

I wonder given how traumatic parts of his life were, if he partly died of a broken heart? Anyway, R. I.P. Colin. You played some beautiful football at times.

Sad news. Apparently he was getting his life back on track after a troubling few years according to SEN this morning.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
