Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The best use of his speed this season was when he chased down Petruccelle and ripped his jumper to shreds. He was awarded the free, took the kick and booted it out on the full. The ball re-entered the Eagles 50. This is Frost.

You whine about mediocrity, playing it safe hasn’t gotten us anywhere in 60 years. I think it’s time we don’t play it safe and take a gamble on someone like Bennell.

So true - nearly bought a new telly after watching that...

If he ends up continuing to show those off field issues, or his calves go ping again, then we haven't lost a thing.  He'll get the flick and we've lost nothing.

However, if he settles and his body holds up then we've almost got the steal of the entire trade period.

Exactly.

Without injury, he would walk into any midfield in the AFL, but what he provides our midfield, if he can stay on the park, will make our midfield the most feared in the competition. That's before we add two top 10 draft picks (hopefully players with an ability to roll through there too). The modern game is about midfield depth.

Things are getting exciting again if Bennell is over the line.

A few of Bennell's performances:

2012 V's Melbourne - 38 possessions/4 goals

2012 V Freo - 37 possessions/3 goals

2013 V Brisbane - 27 possessions/3 goals

2013 V Port - 28 possessions/3 goals

2014 V Geelong - 27 possessions/6 goals

2015 V Adelaide - 39 possessions

Good stats....I guess....

Exceptional stats, however:

2016 - 0 possessions/0 goals

2017 - 19 possessions/3 goals - from 2 games

2018 0/0

2019 - 0/0

Throughout the period from 2012-2015 he was one of the most talent players in the comp. Since then, which is a whole 4 season. He has done nothing. As much as his talent will excite many, the reality is he hasn't even gone for a run since his latest bout of surgery, who knows if he still has his speed, agility and even co-ordination that he once had. We've seen what injuries did to the highly talented Jack Trengove on our own list.

We need to have him complete training sessions with us before we even consider him, otherwise we'll just be paying for someone to do rehab who never plays a game.

Then St Kilda snaps him up and he kicks 30 goals playing wing/HFF.

Yes, this is why we’re talking about picking him out of the dumpster. Obviously if he was in the nick he was in when he was flying, we’d be talking about multiple first round draft picks.

The risks are implicit in the price we’re paying, which is sweet FA in terms of opportunity cost (alternative is the 70th best 18 year old). His salary is a sunk cost - we have to pay someone.

Frost stopped a fast-play I50 for a certain score.

The turnover resulted in a slow-play I50 whereby a decent defence would be semi-ready.

You lot lap this up, but the reality is you are psuedo-clapping the Melbourne footballer with inferior speed/workrate to actually get a to a Petruccelle contest.  We have heaps of them.  So I guess the psuedo clapping is on in earnest.

Clarkson and Hawthorn will have clear instructions for him and a superior work-rate up the field.  I would also add that the get-out dump kick, could be better secured with aerialists in Sicily, O'Brien and co.  Frost will smash it at Hawthorn.  Clarkson has got a beauty for next to nothing.  When 'all is said and done' and Frost proves his worth, and the stupidity of the decision, the sycophants will yell "move on, that was history".

Jordan Lewis targetting for me was the snowflake of a decision that started an avalanche.  Most here have blind faith in our decision-makers and medical staff.  I don't, not for a minute.

It seems clear that you are far intellectually superior to the rest of us on these boards, so perhaps you might feel better suited with your peers, and your current favourite player, at the brown and gold?

I’m with you. Sublime talent. If he passes the medical then by all means take the risk.

Absolutely agree on why were looking at him, the risk vs reward benefit could be massive, and he will cost next to nothing (maybe some extra rehab staffing). But some on here are carrying on like we could be picking up 2012-2015 Bennell - the likely-hood of him even getting close to those levels are very remote, I'm just trying to bring some balance to those working themselves into a frenzy, wait until he shows some signs of being an AFL player before getting excited.

Anyone know what part Neville has played in relation to us stepping up our eagerness for this bloke. I'm very keen as well mind you.

Love this story to come true and what a coup......

Reckon May has more to do with his than, Nev, but I could be wrong.

I mean, of course, our recruiting team and FD have the most to do with it, but I'd suggest May has had something to do with it.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
