Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I wonder if Steven May is having a big say in this. I know they are quite close friends still and he would be in his ear big time.

Whatever gets him over the line I say...

I think we could do worse.  I think pick up and offer two years with conditions. If he turns it around, two year extension with some bells and whistles.

He has had a kid, and does need to sort himself out. Nev would be a great role model. It works it works, it does well all good.

If Bennell passes the medical I'd be very happy that we take him in the PSD. He fits our need for a skillful outside mid and is much better proven in this role compared to Jack Martin, who by comparison will cost at least $400k more. In reality he'd probably cost us $200k per annum on a two year deal at the expense of one of JKH, Stretch or KK as a list spot. This is an opportunity that is worth the risk.

If we sign him its a 1 + 1 deal with the second year being a club option.

Got to be based on match payments thou as otherwise he sits in the rehab group and goes on benders once he has that guaranteed cash in his pocket!

I'm relatively pleased with our trade period to date - Langdon, Tomlinson and then taking picks 3 and 8 into this year's draft.

Landing Bennell would however give it the excitement that, for me, this trade period has been lacking.

It literally turbo charges everything.

Curious use of the word literally

If thats what the club thought, I highly, highly doubt we'd make him an offer.

his management team has been harder at work than sam murray's to claim there's interest in him

i am not opposed to it at all - certainly prefer him on cheap coin for a season compared to jack martin's $1.6m over two - but i just have no faith that he'll ever get his body right

if we are doing a medical that means we're either very close to making an offer, i would assume? then it's up to bennell

the thought of a fit and firing harley revving up the flanks at the g is tantalising...

B: Jetta - May - Hibberd
HB: Salem - Lever - Harmes
? Langdon - Brayshaw - Tomlinson
HF: Petracca - T Mac - Bennell
HF: Fritsch - Weideman - Melksham
Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Viney
I/c: Jones - Hannan - Petty - one of our early picks
Emerg: Preuss - O Mac - ANB - our other early pick

As I posted a few weeks ago, we spoke with his management conducing initial inquiries as part of the due diligence process.

I assume that has been followed up with medical report reviews and references etc.

Club medical now, which will determine the next step being a sit down with the player to discuss the process/plan of returning to training and what we can offer

If we've got the room, then sticking him a one year deal won't hurt us long term.  If he ends up injured then he's off the list at the end of the year and we're using that room for other things.  I doubt he'll be on anything more than the minimum payments and I would also doubt the club would sign him and have that affect the other contracts/deals etc that we have in play.

Jetta has a link to other members of the Bennell family, he'd have some input and certainly play a mentor role. Vitally important for this club moving forward that Nev is kept on after his playing days. Very highly regarded

Hoping my Pickett will be a tad quicker rjay! (No offense PF...im sure you were quick back in the day!)

Hnmm I was a very silky HFF who never handballed and would try to kick miracle goals at every opportunity. Would kick 5 one week, then have a quiet game for a week or two, nearly get dropped and then kick 7 then go a bit quiet  then respond with another 4-5.

Used to drive coaches mad. The one attribute I had was Kicking. I was a truly magnificent kick of the Sherrin/ Faulkner. The Ross Faulkner footy were a magnificent footy to launch torps.

Ah the memories.

As I hear it, his ankle / Achilles / calf region is cactus. Won't play again.

Would love him fit and firing at Demonland. Exactly what we need.

Can't see it, tho.

That’s what was said about Scully’s foot.

Absolute disaster.  Has been trouble & a disappointment at 2 Clubs.  You start recruiting di#%heads and you reap the result.

Like Richmond with Dusty and Stack and Pickett.. they have reaped 2 flags, idiots!

I would be very excited next year if a fit Bennell was best 22 by round 1.

With our enchanted fitness/medical team we are well positioned to make the right call.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
