What a sad sack you must be.

It's a great sight. Must be an exciting but very nervous time when a reco patient starts to test the joint for the first time.

And besides, both feet are off the ground. It's the Olympic definition of running.

I don't make comments like these lightly I have seen a lot of injured player come back from a knee injury and some never make it back because they have not done enough work.

I was a trainer with the MFC in the 1976 to 1985 and an athletics official for 30 years (Olympics in 2000 and Commonwealth Games 2006) so I have seen it all.

I love the club and I hope he makes a great recovery like Max Gawn who did his knee twice but he could be the MFC version of Alex Johnson who did his knee 6 times.

I hope those who think I am sad sack, I hope you put in the similar amounts of work that did for the MFC.

I would think he has done work on the weightless treadmill first not running outside.

Yeah pretty common Chook which is why the limp will be excaberated. My son did an ACL playing footy and that was the most singular issue with rehab. The Quads just waste away like anything and it takes a truck load of work to get them back. My Son missed a year and then came back strongly and played good senior footy before injuring knee again. Result knee totally wrecked EXCEPT ACL which the specialist remarked that the ACL was still ROCK SOLID. So he embarked on a rigourous program under the watchful eye of one of the Collingwood Physios who concentrated a lot on building up the Quads muscles to withstand anything. Essentially my son did an AFL Rehab. Hopefully that puts you in the picture. Cheers Fence!

I was lucky enough to talk Jake at a function pre GWS game and I asked about his knee and rehab. Fascinating insight as he will follow Trac and do the rehab training at the same facility but didn't do anything like it when he tore is ACL in the TAC cup. He had more trouble with his back and hamstrings which where tended to rather than the knee. I wish him well.

It has been 4 months since he did it..Goldsack was back playing in 6m...

I think he'll be OK to to run outside...

Yep, straight line running with Zero deviations! 

He will be right. as an aside I take the point that his first ACL Rehab wasn't as comprehensive as what he will do now! 

So he will be much better of!?

It is fantastic to see Jake doing any type of running at this stage of the year and it shows his determination.. A real professional the kind of person we are going after because they are worth their wait in gold. Well done Jake  and hope to see you play in round 1. Wish you the best.

Anyone heard anywhere when he’s expected to return. ACL’s are usually a year although Goldsack did it in 6mths but he’s older. That would be round 11. Others have said they are 9mths nowadays. That would be close to the start of the season. 

I have no idea.

I think there would be 0 rush. If it takes 12 it takes 12. I prefer he takes 15 and never does it again. 

He would probably aim to play round 1, but my guess is we will see him after the bye.

Yes, correct, surpise, he is aiming for Round 1, spoke to him about it, already ahead of schedule

And is US bound for some rehab

You will find they took the graft from his hamstring.  There has been some amazing advancements with Knee reco's you have a number of options for the Graft one being Transplant which I think Goldsack had, a Transplant means you only need to rehab from the knee and not the area they take the graft as well

It's a great sight and he seems upbeat. I don't think our staff would be taking any risks, I'm sure he'll put in all the necessary work and then some.
