Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Can get the fumbles, and can butcher it a bit.

But has real pace and knows where the goals are.

Would give you more than the likes of Stretch and Kent.

Probably needs a change of club to get the best out of him, a la Melksham

Couldn't disagree more with this sentence. Colyer has been around for a decade in a team that has barely played finals and shown himself to be a depth player only. We've moved on all our depth players from a decade ago.

Stretch & Kent are both still young, and I wouldn't at all be suprised to see Stretch have the year next year that Harmes did this year. He could still become our gun outside mid.

All that aside, if the price for Colyer was nothing more then a future 4th Round Pick, then I wouldn't be against taking him as depth on a 1 year deal given we may have 12 spots to fill.

Give Goody some credit please - he will know whether it's worthwhile taking Colyer or not and if he wants him so be it - he does have a couple of credits already in knowing which Bombers to take.

In theory the switch for Tyson is a good one - I just hope we get a little more in return - ie: they don't have a third rounder so a switch of second round picks - we get 31 and they get 33 would seem pretty fair.

I don't see Stretch ever becoming an impactful AFL footballer.

I reckon Colyer is on the trade table, so if Goodwin wants him, you'll most likely get him. I'd be surprised if a future 4th round pick does it though.

I've said the same thing for a long time re. Stretch. But I was ready to withdraw that opinion and return to an open mind after his later-season performance this year vs. Freo. Played with poise and purpose and provided a missing link with clean skills on a slippery day.

Curious if you caught it Ash - although I certainly wouldn't blame you if you didn't. ? It was enough to force a rethink, and I can't say the same for any of JKH's appearances this year. My knock on Stretch was positioning and movement from the packs and slow decision-making.

These are areas where a player can improve.

Yeah, I watched that game on tv with my daughters. Alice Springs game wasn't it?

I know this is a Colyer thread, so won't linger on Billy Stretch for too long, but I feel 2019 is a make or break season for him.

Needs to establish himself in the side in what will be his 5th season perhaps(?).

Anyway, like a few have mentioned, if Goodwin is keen, trust that Colyer can give you something.

Essendon won't be asking for the world for him, so could well be a handy pick up.

I'm not sure how many on here were that enthused when Melbourne traded for Melksham, and that has worked out quite well for the Dees.

We were all probably a bit dubious about Pig and Milkshake as pickups.

Would we be without them today ? Nupp

Maybe fresh start with a known mentor might reap dividends.

I have no real idea.

Tis a curiosity...

Wouldn't cost much....lots of lockers to fill...

our thoughts on melk at the time were also overlaid with the impending risk of asada suspension hanging over his head (which did eventuate)

i got mixed info re his worth from essendon relos/friends. some i valued thought he would be a good pickup esp with a new start

so yeah, the net results by many here were quite mixed

Nah, I just thought he was a turnover merchant. I was completely wrong. What a move by the FD and Goody. I'll back them in again here.

Colyer. Um Ah Nooo!!  Butchers the footy. Godfrey reincarnation

Godfrey was an extremely hard runner...under-rated for his work ethic.    If we had more gut runners we may have been better, and he may have accomplished more, because of it.

He... was ahead of the game style curve, and in a team that could not develop its list, for love, nor money.

Goody would know him well. If he costs us little, we have nothing to lose. Experienced player with dash. We need to replenish the list.

This.

Goody is 2/2 on the ex Essendrug boys.  If Colyer can make it 3, we will be cooking.

Funny how a recruiting suggestion of Zaharakis is ridiculed last year with the label of "too soft", then when a more substantial rumour about Goody chasing Colyer pops up, everyone jumps on board.

I liked Colyer in his draft year, as much as $cullee.

His run-dash through the middle, with his elusiveness, is beneficial... and I think he would aid Spargo as well, and deWeide.

We can work on his delivery.

He's got the main trick.  Run & carry with speed, thru traffic... transition.   It's a plus, on what we have.

Remember, if we ended up with a U18 small player... he will take some time.  Colyer allows us the time to develop the young player.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
