Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Farewell Jesse Hogan

Plays for Fremantle now so I don’t care all that much, injuries are a part of professional sport. At least he’s still getting paid

Yep they are on a solid financial wicket.

Most of them still love playing the game and are passionate about the game.

Not being able to play at such an elite level would be very disappointing though. I missed a lot of low level footy when young due to knee issues and it was depressing enough without any money. Did you ever play? Did you miss it for any reason?

Add the fact that he's probably rightly concerned about the future of his career given his injuries and I would argue that the financial compensation is not that much of a help.

I get that he's moved on but JH has gone...is going through a lot. His dad passed away as well as having to fight cancer.

I'd argue that from your post you dont really care at all. That's all well and good. You are  entitled to your lack of empathy but I dont understand why you want to share it.

Who benefits from your dont really care post and why the motivation to not care but care enough to tell us .I know you are a passionate supporter of this great club and I enjoy your humor quite a lot but your cynicism not so much.

Perhaps you forgot about his other struggles in which case I apologize.  But I for one feel very sorry for the poor kid.

Good luck Jesse.

Get well soon and TX for the memories.

Look forward to seeing you play some great footy again  You served the Mfc well.

Not at any decent level but trained hard to join defence, at 25 I injured by back pretty bad on deployment and couldn’t do what I was doing anymore. A decade later it’s still buggered and having another round of major surgery in a couple of months. Pretty rough not being able to do what you trained hard for and loved. I could probably be more empathetic I suppose.

Whatever way you look at it it's sad. I hope he's able to get his body right and play some good footy in the future. Right now I'd say the trade is sitting at a 0-0 draw given May's injury troubles.

I'd love to see Hogan have a good run at it in 2020 and show what he's capable of. He's been through an awful lot as a young man, and it is clear he is popular with our list and coaches and alot of mutual respect when he left to join Freo. I think has handled himself pretty well and I would genuinely be happy if he plays well and kicks a bag against us. There are more important things in life than footy.

Yep, that said, you could also argue the trading of Jesse could have given us King instead of May. If May can put together 22 games in 2020, we might be level.

Always liked Jesse, but I don't think he was ever going to be the great white hope we all wanted.

But he is Freo's problem now.

As a supporter Jessie disappointed me with his attitude, in which i probably saw a lot of myself, with all sports and work ethics. But i would be negligent if, having seen what does happen in life, without favour, i cannot feel sorry for a sooky money waster if that is what he is......and i do not want people to feel sorry for me because i never had a father............

Thanks for sharing Willmoy.

My thoughts on the bolded bits about Jesse (or anyone) is I think the point that some folk are saying, is that they understand that the death of a loved on is/can be disruptive. It's exclusive to the conversation about how much he earns (or has nothing to do with it).

In the end, it's Jesse's choice,  sometimes mortality hastens peeople to fall into line to get the best out of their situations, othertimes with the exact same experience, people go '[censored] it'

I totally agree, I think the media is always looking for the feel good story to come to fruition, where he plays the best footy ever in tribute to his father and looks up at the sky when he kicks the match winning goal.

Obviously people are masters of their own destiny but it's hard to argue that his personal development from the age of 17 was disruptive, unusual, and emotionally difficult. As for the money side of things my understanding is that he's on slightly less that what he potentially stood to earn at Melbourne. When we traded him out I think the club saw the writing on the walls that his injury troubles were going to continue and that what was best for both club and player was to get him home. He's now Freo's problem but I still wish him well.

Sensationalist headline writing, he was taken to hospital only as a precaution and has been given the day off from the club. I hope he’s all good and that there’s nothing more to this, it’d be nice if we could see him get a crack at fulfilling his potential.

Sounds a bit more serious than that. Hopefully he was sober

Fremantle star Jesse Hogan has been released from hospital after flipping his car in Perth’s south.

It’s understood the 24-year-old’s white BMW collided with a car parked in front of a retirement village along Waddell Road in Bicton.

A nearby resident said she saw Hogan climb out of the damaged SUV, which flipped onto its side on impact.

Gotta watch those parked cars, they're deceptively still.

Yep. Could well be right. An SUV can tip easily if hit in the right spot. Would have to be going at a fair speed though.
Very lucky boy....

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
