Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Do we know clearly what the Steven May situation is with Gold Coast if we don't sign him this year? Are the rumours true about him touring Bulldog facilities? Is staying for one year untenable for him personally, is he willing to wait a year to become a demon?

A Hogan committed for 5 years, and a Steven May committed from 2020-2024 is the best situation here, so maybe the club should just put that target in their sights and make it happen over the next 12 months.

The problem getting May without a Hogan trade is as much salary cap as it is what we can trade. JH is on $900k next season, on top of that we have a very young exciting list that we will need to manage carefully  to keep together in years to come.

Make no mistake teams are looking to raid our talent.  I am aware of a massive offer from NM to Oliver (who has some vague connection to them) that Oliver refused. This one never made the media.

These offers will only increase. Our stars are all young.

I dont know the answer to this.  Maybe this is nothing more than media speculation. After all the club has never said anything except two early first round.  Maybe 5 and 23 with pick swaps was their absolute position. Think your probably jumping a shadows here. I don’t know and don’t think it means anything.

I think he was referring to this quote from Mahoney the other day:

“If you stack up a 23-year-old key forward and everything he’s done over his career stacks up against everyone so we think he’s right up with the highest anyone’s been traded for and we think Fremantle might have that opportunity with picks they may gain,”

Surely 5 + next years first is closer to a fair trade than 5 + 23 - if he ends up being traded.

The charter of a footy club is to win a flag.

make no mistake , I am a huge Hogan fan, I want him to stay long term.

however, we are dealing with professional footballers who are invested when they rolls the balls out.

if we have retain Hogan for a year, win the flag and he goes so be it.

but who ever we get whether it be May or picks will not see us closer to a flag.

If Hogan commits for 5+ years, and another player doesn't. We're still in the same position as we are now, only we're probably more likely to get high draft picks that we can use to set us up with a gun for the 5-10 years after this window, or to immediately fill the gap left by the player through trade or FA

Maybe the lofty goal of all players buying in and taking paycuts like other clubs, is an attainable goal too? Josh Kelly and Dustin Martin aren't wearing blue and white next year. (And neither is Tom Lynch)

Truth of what?

We do not want to go into 2019 with Hogan at the club, to think that we are ecstatic with him staying another year is nonsense.

I want value but you know what I want more - a settled team looking to win the flag.

Who is we. Do you mean we as a club or you and me.

If the latter, where did I give you permission to make up stuff about what I am thinking.

Anyway who are you?

If I had to choose between the posts of you and GNF, I know which I would believe and I am sorry but it wouldn't be yours.

The club is actively trying to move on from a player and all the soothing from posters ‘in the know’ won’t change that.

If the MFC has its way, Hogan is in purple inside of three business days.

With all due respect, have you been asleep for a week? The dockers value Hogan at pick 11 + 23, not 5 and Ed Langdon. Mental health rumour spreading suggests they're not going to cave.

If he goes to a club that is less successful and with relatively poor prospect  = less pressure = less expectation = less stress = more time for outside activitivies (surf, social life, music scene etc) but all for similar money. If he is not the footy beast/animal like a Viney, Gawn etc it may suit him perfectly to be in such an environment. He can then “cruise” through the season for a fat pay cheque.

Likely a lot more money as there is less competition for the Freo salary cap space

Failmantle have some very strange ideas on sharing the money love. They signed Bennell on a 3 year $650k pa contract and kept Lachie Neale on $450k pa. There is every chance that Bennell will be gone soon (or at the very least get a new low $ contract) and if LN goes as well, that is a lot of money in the kitty. As well as any retirements, delistings and current underspend.

So you are right. Lots of salary cap space in the land of purple muppets.

We give up Hogan and pick 54.

We receive May, Kolodjashnij, and Langdon?

Hmmm, sweet deal for us.

Mate, no disrespect but that is nothing more than your speculation.  It is simply not true.  Without wanting to sound like a [censored] that is the best assurance I can give.  But I promise you are wrong.

Disagree.

I should clarify.  We're better with both May and Hogan in the team and Weideman at Casey.  But as that's not an option I really do think we're structurally far better off with May at FB.

I see a flag with May at FB and I can't with Oscar, Frost, and Lever as the key tall defenders.  I accept others disagree.

How about with Hogan at FB CHB?

And your source of info is?

You may well be correct but if you are it will be Jessie's decision alone. MFC will have no input.

You make dogmatic statements but won't answer my questions.

Strange.

If you want others to believe you you should name your source

Ahh, here we go. The poster who knows eff all during the year, then at trade time, suddenly knows every intimate detail that gets discussed in the FD, right at the moment that you could probably just assemble all the rumours and take a wild stab and get to the same conclusion. Add a dash of “trust me, this is rock solid” and there you have it.

The only surprising thing is that it’s taken over 300 pages of this thread for him to turn up.

Agreed rpfc. If Hogan stays, 2019 will be a circus for an entire year on his contract situation. Given we are clearly in a situation now where we have bigger aims to worry about, it would be a huge distraction that we most definitely could do without.

If he stays, i'd want him to sign a contract extension sometime in the off-season (preferably before the new year).

Yep! I just woke up!

The ball isn’t in Freo’s or little man Peter Bells court! I don’t care what Freo value because it stinks and the rest of the competition agree...

Pick 5 is the foundation to move forward...  If not Jesse stays! I would be asking for Langdon and if I were the Dees I would be in his ear to leave. His brother doesn’t even want to go there! Or Tim Kelly. Freo are on the nose...

Freo want Pick 5 and more from Brisbane... But want too give nothing for Jesse. Please...! Freo need to get off the grass.

The Dees are the seller and have control. If the Dockers don’t want to buy at the asking price we’ll so be it.

Sounds as though you would touch your toes for Pick 11 & 23...!

Stupidity confirmation.

The only time TMac might be in the back 50 is in the last 2 minutes of quarters when we're  trying to stop opposition scoring.

2016 - circus with Dustin Martin

2017 - circus with Andrew Gaff

2018 - circus with Jesse Hogan

I like where this is going.....

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
