Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Farewell Jesse Hogan

Finally someone else sees it.Id take anything from Freo just to move the mummies boy on. He hasnt bought into the club so take what we can now,as either way hes gone in the end

I'll trade him, but only for a deal that helps us get May. Pick 11 doesn't do that.

Pascal was the inventor of game theory.. (mind you it was not called that at the time).

Game theory works on the concept that both sides will take the probability that seems to give them the best outcome.

A belief in God was the example he used to demonstrate his theory in that it is better to believe that he exists because you can never be disappointed when you find out he doesn't.

Yeah OK I get that.  Now how does it apply specifically to this thread?

works only if Freo are near enough to the bottom to ensure no other club takes him first.

If Hogan rejects the offer he doesn't play.

Big stakes and in a way a silly deal from Hogan's perspective in the sense that the picks are inter club... he's only interested in the length of contract and dollars per year.

So in short unless Freo end up bottom any deal from this year is on the table next year if not better.

As an aside I cannot understand why Hogan does not want to go to WCE at the end of next year instead of to the perennial cellar dweller that Freo could be destined to become.

Maybe it’s an ego thing? At Freo he would be a marquee player, best paid on the list and set up for life post-career. That’s leaving aside the other commercial opportunities he’s likely to get as face of the club. Freo will be rebuilding for a few years at least, and barring Fyfe & Walters, the players on their list would not be very highly paid, they’ve more space in the salary cap than we’re likely to have especially if Petracca, Gus & Oliver continue their upward trajectories and demand larger contracts in 2-3 years time. I also believe there would be less pressure on him, odd as that may sound; his potential team mates can’t hold a candle to him in talent terms, and their dysfunctional midfield will likely be blamed if he fails to eclipse his goal-scoring achievements at the MFC.

One thing that player managers of potential and current Fremantle players should take into account are the new restrictions re trainers on the field. With Ross Lyon’s game plan dehydration becomes a serious WH&S risk!

Dockerland is at 20 pages on this subject and we are at 312.

Does this say anything about either team's following or is it just that weather in Perth is too good to be worried about such matters?

It's because Jesse Hogan is our star player and we are much more personally invested in him than Freo fans are.  He's reality to us and theory to them.

That’s next year. A lot changes in 365 days. I am interested in next season.

Me too. I want a backline capable of standing up in prelim and grand finals.

We can win the premiership without an uncommitted, wantaway Jesse Hogan.

I’ve yet to hear, feel or see anything from this player that he’s 100% committed to the cause of the red & blue.

One foot in, one foot out. Now desperate to leave. Why would you want that bad energy on your list? Brings the joint down.

What would people think of this scenario  (in the spirit of getting the deal done):

Brisbane trade Pick 5 to us & 32 to Fremantle

Fremantle trade Lachie Neale to Brisbane & Pick 23 to us

We trade Hogan to Fremantle & Pick 46 to Brisbane

Means Brisbane loose Picks 5 & 32 but get Neale & Pick 46

Fremantle loose Neale & Pick 23 but get Hogan & Pick 32

We loose Hogan & Pick 46 but gain Picks 5 & 23.

Fremantle can then trade Picks 11 & 49 to GWS for Lobb & Pick 25.

We trade Pick 5 & future 3rd Round Pick to Gold Coast for May & KK.

Finally knowing we have picks 54, 62 & 65 up out sleeve to match any bids from 30+ for Bedford, we package picks 23 & 36 to Richmond for Pick 17 & a late pick.

Net Gains

OUT: Hogan, Tyson, Kent, Pick 36, 46 & future 3rd Round Pick

IN: May, KK, Preuss, Pick 17, Pick 62, Pick 65

That reads ok to me.

I'd be happy enough, provided we also got pick 24 or 29 with May.

He’s at a club on the verge of sustained finals success and possible premierships but to quote Mahoney is “happy to be traded back to WA”.

If that doesn’t blare “uncommitted” to you, what does?

So given our retirements and delistings how do we fill the list vacancies to bring us up to the required number?

Reckon we'll go with 38 senior list, 4 rookie list & 2 category B rookies for the year.

8 retirements/delistings and 3 trades out creates 11 vacancies.

We've already got Bradtke & Walker coming in as Cat B rookies takes 2 spots.

Trade in May, KK & Preuss makes 5.

Use 4 Picks at the National Draft is 9.

One Pick in the Rookie Draft is 10.

One delisted free agent = 11.

The party line.

If he was happy to stay he’d have inked a three year extension months ago.

He may well do it after his plane lands too.

Fremantle are throwing rubbish, so the deal is off unless their attitude changes.

Think we might use 36 for Bedford, and I doubt cat B's are on main list.

Might take 2 or 3 DFAs to get the numbers. Menzel here we come! ?

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
