Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

New Deal Tabled; @melbournefc Jesse Hogan traded to the @GoldCoastSUNS in exchange for the Suns’ Steven May & Kade Kolodjashnij.

@freodockers cuteness towards this trade may cost them dearly!

Would want a pick too

Get the feeling that the AFL might get involved with the amount of deals being stuck and players in limbo.

It is becoming a farce and a bad look for the AFL.

Agree. The AFL should introduce a minimum draft pick requirement based on the contract $$ amount and length of contract. So if Freo is  offering Jessie $1.2m/yr over 4 years then that equates to a certain number of points that is converted into draft picks / players. Freo has to offer the minimum unless Melb agrees to something lower (in the case that Melb just want to offload Jessie at any price).

Don’t agree at all but I do think the AFL need to give freo a clip around the ears because four young men are currently in limbo due to their unwillingness to deal fairly with clubs. They chase these guys for years, finally convince them and then refuse to come to the party at all trade wise

it’s insulting and disrespectful and will hurt them badly in the long run. So far there is no way to judge bells appointment but a failure

Pretty rough deal for us here...

Maybe GC can trade pick 3 to the crows for two later first rounds.

Package may, late first (say 13) & KK for Hogan & maybe a later pick

It’s going to be interesting for Hogan next season and how he performs as he clearly doesn’t want to stay.

And we as supporters also know he isn’t committed to a the MFC.

Mite going to be interesting to see how it plays out.

Well I believe it has got to the stage that if what you are insinuating is true he can play FF at Casey. I think he is better than that though so he will play his best for us. Freo stance may have helped him into staying at least until 2021.

Liam Pickering just said that all 3 players definitely want to leave.

He said the deal will get done.

Neale to Brisbane

Hogan to Freo

 pick 5 to Suns

May and second round pick to Melbourne

My guess is GC were set and eager to deal with us after Hogan stuff went through.

Freo stuffing us around in turn stuffs GC around too.

This "offer" is GC's way to help us pressure freo

Just imagine the size of the contract GC could offer him with May, Lynch & KK (who was on a  very decent contract) off their books?

No doubt the AFL will kick in the 500k ambassador allowance to go with it.

1.5 mil plus.

GC would be rapt with this deal as would MFC if there was a sweetener involved.  The only sticking point would be Hogan's willingness - a pretty major sticking point I imagine.  Still GC could offer a Buddy style $11m over 9 years deal that may entice.

If their behaviour hurts them as a club long term I say great - ship it in !

Anything that makes other teams less attractive than the MFC is ok by me

These young men you talk about are no different to any other people in business ( yes it’s a business not just a sport ) they make their own bed by entertaining interest from other clubs - they don’t even have to negotiate their own contracts they have managers to do all that for them.

They don’t even have to make any public statements about what their real intentions are. They don’t need the AFL to intervene their managers are paid good money to protect and advance their individual cause.

In the case of JH I support him 100% whilst he is a MFC player - when and if he says he’s not then my support is withdrawn - simple

Long time reader first time poster on this subject and most every twist and opinion has been canvassed.

My only point I would like to add to the discussion is we should never lose sight of the fact as to how good Hogan may yet become.

I think this trade is short sighted. Looking to build a side to win the flag in 2019. And that is fair enough. But if WC get Kelly from Geelong they will be the team to beat. And if we don't win the 2019 flag we could rue our decision to trade out Hogan.

Remember he hasn't yet committed to the whole idea of playing professional football. If he does when he turns 26 he will be a superstar. We are being short-sighted.

I really hope he stays.

Can someone make a few internet memes (to share on the social media sites)?

Freo chase Hogan for the best part of four years to only pull out when asked for two first round picks (e.g. 5 and 11).

Ironically they wanted nothing less than Pick 2 for Lachy Weller last year, who at best is worth an early second round pick.

AFL trade mediations over deadlocked negotiations have occurred at least twice before, Ryder, Essendon-Port, and Warnock, Carlton-Freo.

I really don’t get the love for May the only reason we would entertain this deal is if we have been told categorically by Jesse he’s gone as soon as he can and does not want to be MFC player

What effectively constitutes a swap May for Hogan and a second round pick is nuts

As far as KK is concerned I took the chance to watch the R21 game vs Suns last night and all I can say is for him to get a game he needs to HTFU big time

I get the feeling a number of clubs and managers are not going to forget Freo’s behaviour in this trade period.

They will last as long as the next deal that suits them Mr Leg. Self interest is the chief motivator of AFL clubs.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
