Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Reading this thread over the last few days has totally done my head in ....... and now this!.  Bugger me!  I wonder if we'll never know the the story behind the story.  Doubtful I guess.  I just hope and pray that it doesn't have any adverse implications for our Club.

So to my mind (assuming this is accurate) we have:

1 - Jesse was asked to make up his mind and did so, deciding he would prefer to play for Melbourne

2 - The clubs were too far apart on the price and the deal was scrapped.

3 - Fremantle pulled out for a reason we do not know.

I list these in what I would consider to be order of probability.  I look forward to seeing the dissection in the media and any comments from the club for clarification.

I sense we've been nudging him out

It'll be awkward carrying him for another year with whatever issues exist prevailing in the background fuelling media speculation

Plus imagine if it comes out Freo turned him down...

Nothing further reported on Basil’s twitter account or by 7 News Perth. Maybe the “can’t bat can’t bowl” defence will be relied on by Basil - it was the camera man (auto cue) who did it as a joke. Surely not.

Haha

Ron Burgundy, didn't think he'd actually read it...

They didn't want to cough up. Plain and simple, plus they are in no mans land for a premiership tilt.

They'd look even more ridiculous than they do already.  They've been chasing him since before he played his first AFL game.  Every year they start a media blitz trying to convince the world that he's coming home in an attempt to create dissent at Melbourne and shake him loose.  If, after all of their efforts they reached a point where he was actually available and then turned around and said they wouldn't pony up for the trade, they would look like an absolute basket case.

If true it’s fantastic that he’s staying And I would be looking to the club to sit down with him to renegotiate an extension beyond next year.

Just with people suggesting we play him in defence, I would actually argue we develop both Jess and Weids with defensive capabilities to be able to swing either one of them back depending on needs and form.

I was as happy with Weidermans form in the latter stages of the year but he’s still got a lot of developing ahead of him.

Not sure we'll sign him for a long term deal.

The reality is the forward line functions better without him with a gun CHF in his position and a promising young tall developing.

Obviously there's a lot of footy that can change things as the year goes on but if he's not traded then at least until the games start we're dealing with the same issues. Plus he has to rehab his foot. Chances are we do the whole thing again next year, this time without a gun key defender available.

Might be a long year for Jesse dealing with injury, maybe even learning a new position, not having a long term deal on the table and having an immense amount of media scrutiny.

It is definitely not the price, as there was a week to go and the negotiations could have kept going.

This is either Jesse not wanting to go to Freo, or Freo concerned about his injury or attitude.

I still think the deal could go through.

If it doesn't, hopefully Jesse signs at least a 2 year extension, or we are in for another year of distraction.

The last possibility is that the Eagles have told him to hang in a year and they will get him across, as Kennedy will be 33 and they will have more picks or players to deal with.

As someone has said below, it is now off the clip. It could be pure BS.

Listening to SEN & they have put the question out to all journalists across the country to confirm the story about hogan .. & so far no one knows anything. They can’t even reach Basil Zemplaris who originally reported the story.. Something is seriously fishy about this...

If you go back and click that link again there's nothing in it about Hogan at all now.

Me thinks someone has fibbed and it's still on like Donkey Kong.

Accepting the red flags were known, I wonder why you tour him through your facilities and medically test him.

Do you think we can get the May deal done with what we have at our disposal?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
