Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The smart clubs tend to knock off bits and pieces trades as soon as practical so they can move on to the next deal.

For that reason I expect the KK trade not get mixed in with May simply to make it cleaner given the sequence of events that would need to occur for May to be a possibility (Brisbane and Freo agree on Neale, Melbourne and Freo agree on Hogan, Melbourne and GC agree on May including KK).

All three of those planks have risk of falling through or taking a bit of posturing time so you wouldn’t want to rely on that happening to land KK.

Melbourne and GC have some reasonable trading history and I suspect goodwill so I wouldn’t be surprised if Melbourne can get KK for unders as a stand alone early based on that.

I'm trying to recall. Have we ever traded with GCS?

Craig cameron is a new list manager though. He probably wont be repeating the greatest hits trades of yesteryear.

No, actually. The priority is a big nasty fullback who can contain the Josh Kennedys and Buddy Franklins of this world. His name is Steven May and the club has met with him twice. But in all your hysterical recent commentary you keep choosing to ignore this fact.

A quality pacy mid or two would be nice but if we have to wait until next year to add this element to our list so be it. Not sure if you’re onto it but we do presently have a pretty damned decent midfield.

Go to the 2019 draft with two early picks (say 5 & 16) and we have a strong hand to pursue a range of attractive options. Josh Kelly won’t be the only show in town.

Your problem is that you can’t see past the end of your nose with your “I want everything and I want it now” attitude. As a rule that’s not how smart deals get done.

If you want to stretch success out over a dynasty, you make decisions with the occasional glance toward the future. Patience is s very underrated virtue.

Pick 5 now and a top 1-8 pick in 2019 is good deal for Hogan. Only the most one-eyed MFC fan would not agree.

So start of next season when Oliver isn’t ready rd 1-5 because he is recovering from his shoulder ops still, Viney has a delayed start as his ankles are not quite right yet and Jones is going slow coz he is aging, and there is no Tyson, Vanders and to a lesser extent Vince left on your list, what are we turning to? It’s a genuine question not aimed at starting a war, but rather asking you to tell me where you see the depth on our list? Are you foreseeing Billy stretch coming on? Is Maynard gonna have a breakout year? Is Kennedy-Harris finally gonna step up to AFL level? You can tell me injuries won’t happen, but I will tell you we survived this year because we had quality depth. I am concerned that the game is won and lost in the midfield and I think we ought to be trying to bolster what we are losing. I am not having a meltdown about anything happening right how, coz nothing is. My concern is not so much the Hogan for May deal, but the fact there is nothing coming back that addresses the loss of the depth we had. If I hear the KK is exactly that, I’ll fall off my chair. The bloke has barely played in two years. We did not lose to the Eagles coz Darling and Kennedy fired, we lost contested possession in th midfield and barely laid a tackle. No fullback would have been able to stop those two given how the ball was coming in.

Matthew warnock (some time ago now).

Close on Howe but it fell through because Howe didn’t want to go.

Pick swap and upgrade in 2015 to get Oliver and Weideman.

Some history, but as pointed out by another poster there has been turnover at GCS footy department so that could’ve reset any historic goodwill.

I seem to recall Ricky Pettard was close?

My recollection of Petterd was GCS were looking to sign him as a straight uncontracted player as part of their start up list so that was more potential poaching rather than trading.

It also could’ve just been the media connecting any player recruiter from local Gold Coast clubs with GCS irrespective of what was really happening.

You are making an Everest  out of a molehill over the abject calamity of waiting 12 months for pick 8 in a draft. Get a grip man.

Wouldn’t that be so typically Melbourne?!

If his foot is cactus, we have just lost our chance of seriously improving our list to win a flag, AND we have lost one of our big talents.

So some AFL writer, possibly McClure, said today that he thought pick five from Freo should be enough to get them Hogan.  Seriously?  Does the Dude even watch the game?  We have one of the best young KPFs in the game, he's contracted for next year and he's always said he's happy playing with us.  In what world would we accept unders for him?

If we lose Hogan, Kent, Vanders and Tyson and get May , Preuss and Kolojashnij in return then that is unders.

There has to be another big fish in the pipeline somewhere.

If pick 5 is what they only offer to us then I would say nothing more than the middle finger would be an appropriate response. Two top 10 picks at a minimum is what we will get, if they want to low ball us then we hold onto him for another year and bring West Coast to the party for next year. Potentially even then try to convince him to commit longer, if Freo jerk us and him around it could well sour his budding relationship with them.

Freo won’t accept pick 4 for Lochie Neal, so what do they expect to pay for Hogan? It certainly isn’t just pick 5.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
