Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Oliver doesn't care if you don't like him

agreed, absolutely not a dive

he may have (stress 'may') milked it a little bit, but it was all initiated by mitchell and a straight shoulder charge to the chest when clarrie was not braced and miles off the ball. if dorks have a problem it should be with mitchell for a stupid lack of control. a free kick every time in my book

Exactomundo ... how is Brownlow Boy's brain fart suddenly Clarry's responsibility ??

The dlckhead dork stuffed up . Very expensively in context of the game.

He didnt dive, he just didnt try and not fall over. Umpires warned a few hawks and oliver himself for retaliating. They had been targeting him and umpires were watching for the next one to put a stop to it. He went down easy but most players have gone down easier in their career, its just people will grade him harder since the west coast incident. He might not care what people think but he should be making sure he does nothing to get the media whirl wind going again. Because the umpires are easily influenced and if he's got the rep of a flopper, they'll let that influence decisions.

The good thing is I don’t think this is spin, I really think he doesn’t give a toss at all. Bit like Matty Scarlett.

There is no reason for him to give a toss. Came out of virtually nowhere, best midfielder in the whole League, and basically only his second year. According to his mum, everyone said he was not up to AFL football standard. Got the mind on his performances, responsibilities and execution -  what could be better than that? No need to absorb the comments or disdain of others, at all.

Are you more likely to cop an injury from bracing flat-footed against an oncoming bump (Viney notwithstanding) or by relaxing the body and riding it - a la having soft hands in tennis?

Not so long ago (or in different circumstances) Clarry would have been applauded for his footy smarts and professionalism for milking a free from the undisciplined actions of an opponent.

The worst thing about this is that with Oliver saying he doesn't care what people think of him, it implies that he doesn't care either if people love him, and I just love him so damned much.

Throughout the match you could hear the umpires repeatedly warning Hawthorn players about making contact with Oliver off the ball.  They chose to ignore the warnings and got pinged.

They were into Oliver all night. Particularly shiel, the dirty dog.

Early on shiel was all over him and I yelled out:

SHIEL, YOU'RE TWICE HIS NUMBER BUT HALF HIS QUALITY.

I was pretty happy with myself but got no love from surrounding fans.

Hard lad to phase though is our olly. Big smile on his dial through all the niggle

The essential quality emerging from our midfield is that they relish and thrive on the contest. So more agro from the opposition, the more they enjoy and the better they play.

Oliver, Viney, Vanders, Harmes, Melksham, Hibberd, etc are all thriving as the pressure footy mounts. With Petracca, Brayshaw, Weid and others growing into it.

What I love most about our team is that the players never winge or complain, they just roll up to the next contest and go harder when it doesnt go their way. In my view Goodwin sets this standard by never complaining about the umpiring which cascades to the playing group. Compare this to Geelong where the coach carries on like a pork chop, Danger flops around and Ablett winges when he cops some contact. To Selwoods credit he doesnt complain much.

The media should take a look at some Melbourne replays and watch how many times a game Oliver gets held at the contest, with no free. Not once does he complain, whinge or remonstrate with the umpires.

Imagine if the same was done to Selwood, Dusty or Mitchell.

I dont think so. The contact was there. He just let it happen. He could have braced.

You dont know the difference ? Lol.

No mention of Burgoyne or Gunston for exaggerating  contact  on the below the knee frees?

What about Selwood grabbing his forehead when viney hit him in the chest?

That Selwood one was a disgrace - umpire totally sucked in.

Yep Mitchell initiated the contact, Oliver was just standing there.

What about the Hawks players diving forward in marking contests as if they'd been shoved in the back? Or flying over our players as if on ice so as to make out their legs were taken from under them? Or diving headfirst into our tackles so they could get a free for high contact?

What about the fact Oliver gets scragged at every single stoppage so has to compete for the ball with one arm half the time? Why is there no media coverage on that?

Maybe they were .... certainly this week's opponents will be.

Really pisses me off (mentioned earlier in this thread) that they warn - just give the friggin free and it will stop.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
