Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

GF Ballot Barcode

am i right in thinking that you can't specify a preferred category in the ballot?

i.e. if you wanted standing room you couldn't nominate and could end up with category 1

This is something that has annoyed me no end. Myself and a dozen of my mates all have have priority one membership. Should we make the GF we will have no option but to purchase seats when all we want is standing room. The same thing happened in 2000. We had 9 seats together on level one in the Ponsford - reasonable seats. We wanted standing room in the Southern stand (at a fraction of the price). I phoned the MFC to say I was happy to swap, but unfortunately they were too busy to help. Nine seats remained unoccupied as we all stood. It may happen this year.

The AFL is too greedy. Release standing room tickets from the get go.

Poor form from the club.

When I rang the club, the on hold message said the email was being sent at lunchtime. I got mine 2:48, hang in there.

The info has been easy to find on the club site for days.  I linked to over the weekend here.

You've got your personalised email 40 hours before you have to register.  That seems like enough time to prepare.

I'm not sure what you're complaining about?

I'll be in the queue for a Priority 2 ticket and will be mightily effed off if some non-member barcode beggar gets a seat ahead of me.

On ya bike (putting it very politely)

Could not agree more. We all want to go if we make it.

I haven't read through all the fine print yet but my 9 year old Son is a Priority 2 and I'm a Priority 3 ?

Hoping the fine print explains how I register to give us both a chance to go... Surely they don't expect him to go on his own? Although he would! Haha

Im in the same boat. I tweeted the club but no response.

I appreciate the issue people have with lending bar codes to non members - and lending bar codes in general.

But i want to run this up the flag pole anyway.

I'm a priority 2. I have really good mate who is priority 3. He has been a life long dees fans and despite living in Sydney for the best part of 25 years has maintained his membership for almost all those years, only missing one a few years back which has scuppered his priority 2.

In his lifetime (he is 50) he has not missed ONE demons final game. Including going to the last West Coast final over there. In the last few weeks he has come down for the Swans and GWS games and both finals. He and i are going across to Perth for the prelim.

My mate has organised all the finals tix for me (and a group of my friends) so far, which given how much hassle it has involved is above and beyond.

Should we make the GF i really want to go with him. Also as a priority 3 he is very unlikely to get a ticket and i would hate for him him to miss out (or more likely have to pay ridiculous price to a scalper or the like, which he would end up doing).

That is a long winded way to say in the very unlikely event someone has priority 2 bar code they are not using and prepared to share i would be eternally grateful.

Try email.  MFC Membership team is doing a great job and working late.  I received an email at 8.00pm last night.  They will respond.

I asked a similar question of Priority 1 and 2.  This was the response from the club last night:

"If you register with someone who is a priority two you will drop to priority two with them. There is no way around that unfortunately".

So my reading is: to sit together registration is to be with the lowest priority group.  Not sure but I would imagine the system is smart enough to know that if a Priority 3 is being registered with a Priority 2 it will reject both or drop both down to Priority 3.

Not much the club can do about it as the AFL make the rules.

We have been caught by surprise a little and I will be paying more attention to GF priority groups when I renew memberships for next year.

cannot really understand how a ballot works if you have both single and group applicants.

Is an application for five people to sit together one ticket (chance) in the ballot or five. If it is five chances do only the selected persons out of the five get offered a ticket.

It is a little ambiguous in the mailing.

Strangely, probability theory would say you are best registering as five separate persons and not sit together if the group only has one chance.

Oh such mysteries we must now solve as we enter this strange territory called finals.

I live in Perth and am wondering if anyone knows about airline pricing. If we were to win on Saturday and assuming that many west coast fans would then cancel their flights would that mean that flights to Melbourne for the GF plummet in price?

i have not bought a flight as yet so am curious.

Whilst I’d traditionally agree with this Poita, I’m a MCC/MFC dual member and the ‘membership’ is nothing more than a donation. Get no access to any games or anything other than a scarf. Given we’ve never played finals, I’d never encountered or thought about the fact it wouldn’t give us access to grand final ballot but given I’m only a restricted member I’m now stuck because I can’t get into MCC nor can I get a ticket through MFC. I’m a 10 year member who has sat through Gold Coast spanking us at the G, Geelong spanking us in the 150th year game and all the spankings between them. Worlds smallest violin and all that jazz but it’s hit me in the last few days that if we win, I’m next to no chance to go. At 28, it’s a somber thought that the I was 10 at the 2000 and couldn’t take it in and I’m sure all the rich & elite that have jumped on the bandwagon will get tickets before me through corporates or mates in the coming days after we get it done over the Eagles ;) but probably a good life reminder that sometimes life sucks.

Im rambling now but just remember not everyone who is asking for a favour isn’t a member or hasn’t been on the same emotional journey as you for as long as they can remember!

go Dees

In this scenario the MCC/MFC Premium option is a good option for 2019 onward, that's what I am as I'm also stuck on MCC Restricted Membership for a few more years.

This year it was $219 as opposed to the standard option $87 (on top of your MCC Membership) but it has the following benefits;

* 3 game guest pass membership that allows entry to MCC Reserve for selected MFC home matches (or entry into the public reserve for up to 3 home matches)

* Free Young Demon membership for a child under 15 years (as at 1/1/19)

* Priority access to purchase finals tickets, when Melbourne participates. (this year it's Priority 2)

Bring a mate to those 3 games and make him buy you food and drink in return and start chipping away at that $132 difference aha

Is it possible to pay to upgrade a membership at this late stage?

I think you'll find that all AFL clubs are restricted in how many 'priority one' memberships they can sell ie Legends, Redlegs etc in the case of the MFC.

If they had no restriction then there would be no tickets available for the 'ordinary' member.

I know there's a long waiting list at all the big clubs for 'premium' membership, and I suspect a waiting list at our club as well. I let mine lapse in 2000 but promptly re-joined in 2001.

PS I've been a MFC member for 56 years - longer than most DL'ers I suspect.

Hey guys i know everyones after a barcode for the gf, i didnt get the grand final guarantee instead bought my daughter a membership too.

But i can live with that, that was my choice, i'm hoping that i can get my dad there, he had been a member for decades, priority 1, and only missed the 2000 finals series with his first bout of cancer (I know timing). He got struck down again last year for a third time and it didnt look good, they even gave him a month time line, but the tough son of [censored] is still here, numerous times i invited him to some games this year but he always had an excuse, or said it was to bigger day, it wasn't until our first final that the proud sod told me he couldn't afford his membership this year and after burying mum he just gave up a bit i think. Fellow demonlanders @ding got him there vs the cats which was just amazing and @faultydet also lent me his and our whole family got to go and enjoy it with him. Thankyou guys so much, thats a memory that will stick with us forever. He wouldn't accept a ticket last week because we all couldn't go, but a grand finals a bit different I would love to go with him, but from where I'm sitting i just need to get him there. If i knew he didn't have the money or wasn't buying his membership i would have pulled money together and bought it for him. We didnt even know he was struggling financially, he only expected to last a couple if months and set up his funeral costs and paid off what he could on his property which he wanted kept until the grand kids were 25 to give them something to build from. If anyone has one I'm more then happy to pay the grand final guarantee amount, hell even if you want me to pay a bit extra its worth it. it would feel like i could make up for not picking up what was actually happening and sorting it out at the start of the year.

Thanks for taking the time, I'm not usually one for airing personal things on the internet so thankyou to the two posters i mentioned and if anyone isn't using one please keep me in mind. Ill be doing everything i can to get him there.

Thanks mate.

I'm stuck in central Queensland, so I'm living the Dees succcess through others right now.

So glad you got to go with the old fella. Wish I had a ticket to offer for next week.

btw, @ding and I are twin brothers. He is quite the ranting arzhole normally, and hates EVERYTHING (except cats), so to get help from him is some sort of breakthrough.

Sounds like he has finally figured the correct dose for his meds..

Hey, I've also got a barcode for you, from a spare membership I bought for a family member, but it's only a tier 3. Not sure if that will be much good to you.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
